  1. Yep, Wildcat32, we lost but you've made it so obvious that we have more class than you. I would be disappointed if I saw a post from a Pirate like this. I'd rather have class and dignity and respect. I won't be judging your town or teammates by your statements or attitude. I'm so proud of our Pirates!
  2. I just want to let this team know how proud I am of them. They showed up to play some football today. They beat an undefeated team, Lumberton White, and it wasn't easy to do. They have some talent there. A huge thank you to the parents and fans in the stands for stepping up and screaming for our little pirates. There are two moms, maybe a few more, that always yell for the kids. They were doing that and I saw the head coach turn to the crowd and raise his hands like, "Come on. Bring on the screamin'." And they did. I believe it changed the whole game. The energy level was just out of this world!! The boys on the field noticed because they started playing like I've never seen this year. It was unbelievable. Let this be a lesson for all of us....ENCOURAGE THE KIDS THROUGH SCREAMING AND YELLING AND YOU MAY CHANGE THE WHOLE DYNAMIC OF THE GAME. (But remember, we are only screaming to encourage not to tear down so always keep it positive.) We won 30 to 26. Thank you also goes out to the guys who always step up to do the chains!! And the refs weren't bad, either. GO PEE WEE WHITE!!
  3. Say it aint so... was told the a kid punched another kid in the face while doing the handshake after the game...again could be just a huge rumor If you know who started this post then you know why he did..He's not affiliated with our league in anyway, just one of his tactics on trying to make people look at our league the wrongway.. Now this is just my opinion. But why would it matter to him are anyone else what took place. As long as both coaches handle it then so be it. I'm sure all things are well in his league...........Robby i think your totally wrong...i was told it was a senior kid that punched a kid on the handshake...i have nevwer heard of anyone doing this and just wanted to know if it was true and apparently it wasnt as bad as it was described to me...but as far as Robbie saying it was an attempt to make people look at your league in a wrongway that is not true...this has nothing to do with a league but an individual.... I guess the problem is, if people are going to talk about things that happen, they need to at least know what they are talking about. The person that told you this had every aspect of the event in question wrong. Which is exactly what you said in your quote, makes it a huge RUMOR. This is how rumors get started in the first place. If in fact it had been a Senior player and he was my child...I would be completely embarrassed by it and wouldn't want it discussed but I realize we all discuss things that happen, myself included. I just know I would be wishing people hadn't witnessed it and then talked about it so that EVERYONE would know. Ah! But it's not a perfect world. Anyway, just wanted to get it out there.
  4. You're right, Robby. I love people in both these leagues. The kids love their friends that are in both of these leagues. So why the pot stirring? Okay, that was a dumb question! No youth league in the world is without problems so why look for them? I take offense when it is a story I know a little something about because my child is on that team and I know the coaches and how they teach the children about sportsmanship. I also know that not one person is perfect and that includes children. If this was an opposing teams child, I would hope that we would have some compassion and realize he made a mistake. The coaches rectified it if it did take place. I feel like I have to stand up for my team without being rude about it. I'll do that a million times if need be. I just wish we could be civil. People don't have to be best friends to do that. I've seen the people in our league be civil. I'm very proud of that.
  5. Say it aint so... Normally I would not post a response but since my child is on the team in question, Pee Wee White, I would like to clarify. Every child on both teams had helmets on so no player could have been slapped in the face. I have that on video so that can be proven. When one of our coaches was approached by the Nederland Gold coach about the incident in question, our coach immediately got the child in question and asked the Ned. Gold player if this was the player who did it. After asking many questions, the Ned. player could not positively identify anyone as the player who had hit him. Our player was also very upset that someone thought he had hit them. Also, the Ned. player said he was hit in the stomach. Then, after talking with the coaches for a little bit, thought that it might have been a hard "Good Game" slap that missed his hand. I assure you that the head coach of this team would not tolerate that kind of behavior from his players. That's why our coach (who wasn't the head coach) immediately looked into the matter. If the Nederland coach reads this and any of this is not correct, please let me know. If ANYONE has any questions about this incident, including the person that started this conversation, please call the head coach of the VPIFA Pee Wee White Tackle team. He would, I GUARANTEE you, love to answer any questions you may have regarding this matter. He prides himself on teaching his players to be good sports.
