  1. There is no doubt in my mind that, despite the finals on the scoreboard Friday night, both mid-county schools will benefit greatly from their experiences at Reliant Stadium. Not only did they get to play in one of the finest facilities in the country, but they also got to test their mettle against some of the top 4A teams in the state, which can only help them to grow as a team as the season moves forward.
  2. I certainly cannot speak for everyone in attendance Friday night, but I know that I personally, did not have anyone drinking beer anywhere within viewing (or smelling) distance of where we sat for both games.
  3. Central vs West Brook at Lamar Ozen at Port Arthur Memorial Houston Forest Brook at Nederland PN-G at Crosby New Caney at Lumberton Vidor at St. Pius LC-M at WO-S Nacogdoches at Dayton Barbers Hill at Jasper Huffman vs Houston Wheatley at Dyer Stadium Houston Sterling at Silsbee Orangefield at East Chambers Cleveland at Hardin-Jefferson Kirbyville at Carthage Liberty at Hamshire-Fannett Crockett at Newton Splendora at Woodville Groveton at Hardin Warren at West Hardin Burkeville at Buna Deweyville at Evadale Fort Bend Baptist at Anahuac Kountze at Hull-Daisetta Baytown Christian at High Island Kelly at Hitchcock Oakwood at Colmesneil
  4. Has anyone heard any numbers on how many fans were in attendance at Reliant Stadium Friday night?
  5. I can't speak for all of them, but I know we are.
  6. Good point. I remember when we opened the season at their field in 2002. It seemed like their defense was in our backfield as soon as the ball was snapped.
  7. I'll be sitting (standing) in Reliant Friday night, screaming for the Indians.
  8. A fan is a fan if he/she shows up & supports his/her team, no matter what his/her personal biases are reguarding said team's chances. A fan will always pull for his team, despite the odds.
  9. 1. South Carolina @ Mississippi State (Thursday) 2. Nevada @ Fresno State (Friday) 3. Stanford @ Oregon 4. California @ Tennessee 5. Washington State @ Auburn 6. Notre Dame @ Georgia Tech 7. USC @ Arkansas 8. McNeese St. @ USF 9. TCU @ Baylor (Sunday) 10. Florida State @ Miami (FL) (Monday)
  10. My point exactly! Despite having talent, we did not look very good in that Week 1 matchup with LM, but by season's end, we found ourselves in the playoffs. If anyone would have tried to make a prediction based on that Week 1 shellacking we took, I don't think they would have predicted we'd still be alive in Week 3 of the playoffs.
  11. I'm not convinced that you will know too much more about Ned after this Friday night. We have very seldom looked good in Week 1, and especially not when we play LM in the first game. Historically, it takes Nederland a few weeks to get everyone in sync with each other. By the time district rolls around, you get a better idea of the team chemistry and a more accurate outlook of how the remainder of the season will go. As for this week's game, I am just going to go and have fun, and enjoy the fact that the season has started. With NEd & PNG sharing the home side at Reliant, it is going to be fun!
  12. I think Dayton will definitely mix things up in this district. It is hard to predict how they, or anyone else will fare this season b/c of the quantity of quality teams we have. I will be surprised if any one team just runs away in this district. And even if one does, I think the other two playoff spots will be determined by the tie-breaker system that is in place. Whoever ends up in the 4th & possibly 5th place spots will probably be playoff-worthy teams in another, weaker district. You know what they say, "On any given night . . ."
  13. Not if they keep playing the way they have been lately. :?
  14. I'm afraid that once it enters the Gulf, it will strengthen quite nicely. :|
  15. Wow. What a tragic end to so many young stars.
  16. Ahh, Dustin Driskol (sp?). He was a good one too. He was heck on the wraparound draw.
  17. Paddio, like several other Ned backs, was good, but he was no Sumrall. Mosley stands the best chance yet to unseat Sumrall at the best to come out of Ned.
  18. It can't happen too soon for me. I'll go on record right now & say I'll buy 4 season tickets the day they go on sale, no matter what division or conference they are in.
