No kidding. I make for me what is a chance in a lifetime hunt, go to within 25 miles of the Mexican border.... and get snowed on. Go figure.

I didn't vote since I don't duck hunt anymore. It seemed like almost a religion a few years ago but I have moved on. I was looking at that best ever option. I don't know that a perfect hunt now would ever qualify as the best ever. There were too many times in the mid to late 70's (maybe early 80's) where two friends and I would kill 30 birds in short order in consecutive trips. I doubt that we will ever see those days again.

I voted worse than last year because in number of kills, it was not as good. I think that maybe it was one of the more fun seasons that I had. I just didn't get a chance to go out as much due to a change in my work schedule. Kills were down but it was fun and interesting... especially the snow in south Texas.

Zote is better. It has a higher tallow/fat/lard content and is a lot softer and more pliable. It is not brittle so it tends to stay on a hook more and the extra fat draws them in better.

I don't really care who gets the BC job and don't have a dog in the hunt. But.. if they eliminated Matthews simple as a payback, that is crazy. That is like saying that maybe he was the guy for the job but we are going to show him. Who loses out on that kind of deal, the coach or the team that needed him? If they wanted to eliminate someone due to the person not being the right guy at the right time, great. If they do it in spite, that will only hurt the school that did it, not the coach. Now I hope that the BC hires the right guy for their team.

Ever try to use Zote Soap for bait? It doesn't seem to work well with Ops but it can bring in some good channel and a few blue cats.

I put a dent in it also... a tiny little dent. Maybe it was a scratch......

I have seen turkeys on my deer lease twice in four years near colmesneil. -
What are you using for bait or are you using a bit of everything?

Did anyone have a good deer season?

Your right and I think you can have 130 class deer in any area in 3 years. If you get them plenty of good food, kill a bunch of does (has a lot to do with the food supply) and let them grow up, it is amazing what kind of deer are produced. -
Your reading comprehension skills are showing. I was taking up for Lumberton. A bit above your head but you will figure it out.

Well, Vidor has been trying to beat Nederland for so long in the standings of any sport, maybe they have found something to compete in... the looks of the baseball coach. ;D -

That was not the original report but detectives are looking further into it. They are thinking of bringing in the Texas Rangers to try to recover DNA from the suspected spittle. It may link the argument to definite gang activity. It has been shown that drive-by spitting may lead to further acts of violence. One of the first graders may have indeed moved from Port Arthur to Nederland, fueling more threats of gang violence. -

I heard that two first graders last week were seen having words with each other at recess and reliable witnesses said that one of them spit on the ground. It could not be confirmed because they fled before the Nederland police arrived. -
I have never used a bonus redfish tag but it is the principal. It already costs $5 more to fish in saltwater than freshwater. If they don't stop the stamps and permits, where will it end? State duck stamp, archery stamp, whitewing dove stamp, redfish tag....... if they went up $2 on everyone's license, they would raise more money than they do selling all of the different tags and stamps. It seems like buying a new car and then you have to pay extra for wheels, seats, headlights....

Talk about a government red tape and bloated rules and regulations. The article says that the Texas Parks & Wildlife issues 161 different permits, stamps and licenses. But wait, an assessment work group decided that there were 61 too many license, etc. If everything goes well, Texas will only issue 100 different types of licenses. What a break through that is! One of their responses is a $3 charge for the now free bonus redfish tag. That is to (their words) "cover the agency's administrative costs of issuing the tags". I imagine that. When you go into Academy and trade in your used redfish tag for a new one that is spit out on a computer printout by a minimum wage employee, it is reported to cost the TP&W $3. So it is done on a computer in about 15 seconds and it costs $3? I need to get into that computer business. At a rate of about $700 an hour, I am pretty sure I can cover the admin cost of the stamp. Certainly no red tape or hidden costs there. The article calls it, "an untapped revue source". Well duhh. If you want an untapped revenue source, why not charge for each type of fish that can be kept. Heck, they did away with 61 licenses. They could add a few back without much red tape. Just think, the license costs you $28 in freshwater but they could make it where you can only fish, not keep any. If you with to retain bass, that is a $10 stamp for the year. Catfish, bream and crappie might come in at a $5 stamp. Maybe they could even charge a $15 stamp for anyone that fishes in a bass tournament. The stamp would be good for the whole year of course. No need to buy a stamp for each tourney.. at least not for the first year when they realize another "untapped revenue source". Now that I am off of my rant, why don't they just charge us for a hunting, fishing or combo license. Why all of the silliness with the stamps and permits? If they need $40 per person instead of the current $28 ($38 for salt/freshwater combo), then just do it. Why the nickle and dime stuff where it looks like you are paying more or less by the fish you go after. I think they have all gone nuts.
