  1. The title of this thread is Good at sports or good sportsmanship !!! Diehardaggie asks the question as if they are mutually exclusive of one another. I think that for most student athletes, they go hand in hand. Everyone would like to succeed in sports but if given the option of being a failure in life but good in sports or vice versa, where do you think they would choose? No one is going to say that they would like to be a high school star for a couple of years and then fail the rest of their life. I have read thousands of posts in this forum and have never seen anyone make a statement that life is not important, sports mean everything or anything else of that nature. I have never seen anyone mention their own illustrious high school career as if someone should be in awe. If you started a poll on is it more important to succeed in life or high school athletics, where do you think it would be. I am sure that it will be at 100% that life is more important although you will always have some clowns vote the opposite just to play devil's advocate. It seems like diehard is trying to make an argument that does not exist. If all he wants to do is make a comment that sports are fun but life is more important, I do not think that anyone would disagree.
  2. That is a riot.
  3. There are some pretty good coaching staffs in the area and it is certainly based on opinion which is best. I don't see how some of the top rated ones are better "by far" over the others. There are just too many good coaching staffs in the area with proven track records that have lasted for years to proclaim one the best by far. IMO.
  4. We missed it because you didn't say it. Let's see' date=' a high school forum is beat to death talking about high school sports.. yeah, now I understand. Thanks for clearing that up. I must have missed that post. Please refresh our memory on when someone in here (at anytime) has equated high school athletics with excelling in life. Since you never mentioned that in your first post, how is anyone going to get it? Maybe you mistook this for the clairvoyant forum. Sorry, we are not mind readers. While it is true that being a high school football (or any other sport) player generally doesn't equate to success in life, I have never seen anyone on this forum say that it did. I have not seen any of your "geeks" come in here and spend any time talking about his high school accomplishments. I don't recall anyone talking about what they did in high school. Sorry, maybe I have missed those posts. True, you are free to post. When you start off by creating a thread in a high school football forum so that you can call people geeks for talking high school football and then finish by saying that playing high school football doesn't mean squat, what kind of response did you think you would receive?
  5. I can't believe an Aggie could spell stereotypical. Way to go!! (Must have had help from a UT grad)
  6. Let that be your chastising lesson for the day. All you geeks get off of that computer and get to making a better life for us all.... while I sit here and talk about high school football like Al Bundy.
  7. From offense or defense, especially on defense. I guess when they gave 20+ picks to Dayton, they didn't leave room for much else.
  8. It takes more than being close to make a game of the year. First it should have some kind of impact on the district standings (and not challenging Lumberton for last place) and it needs to be memorable by maybe having wild scoring, great individual performances, closeness, etc.
  9. I corrected it for you.
  10. Dayton sure can't claim they were passed over as the new kids on the block by the Golden Triangle coaches.
  11. I hunt a split deer season. I split my vacations so that I can hunt at different times in the season. That is a good thing about having 8 weeks vacation.......
  12. DeJohn had a great year but there is more than stats in picking all-district. I can see that the Lumberton fans believe in all-district by computer. Let the computer spit out the stats and that is your all district team. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. Leadership, impact on the team, winning, etc., all go into the coaches making their decisions. As far as stats, DeJohn has slightly better stats but just barely. Moshier taking his team two games deep in the playoffs probably seem more important to the coaches than looking at Lumberton as last place in the district.
  13. Dallas Cowboys @ New York Giants
  14. LOL. Now that is funny. Yeah' date=' didn't you hear, no hunting in our county next week? Trust me!![img']
  15. Have you changed bullet weights?
  16. Almost half the people (at this point) do not agree. For my opinion, Larry Neumann puts together one of the best staffs top to bottom each year. Individual coaches might be very good in their specialty for example, I believe that Cornell Thompson is a great defensive coordinator at WO-S. Neumann's staff across the board seems to get a maximum effort out of the talent level they are given year after year.
  17. But if you buy the Zeiss Victory Diarange scope for $3,700, they will throw in the mounts for free. The Zeiss Conquest line is actually fairly comparable in price to the Leupold VX-III line. It is when you get the the more high end Zeiss that you start paying a little more than Leupold and then not by much.
  18. Sounds like he had an awesome year. I am not that familiar with the players in 21-3A and don't pull for any of the teams in that district anyway so I don't have a dog in the hunt. Dishon sure seems to get more press than Ramsey and perception is everything.
