  12. Like Obama going to 57 states…. 🤣
  13. It’s a good thing that I didn’t mention Mexico.
  14. Was…. now retired but still teaching voluntarily at the police academy. Almost four decades gives a lot of experience. Mine was fairly active and crossed into several specialties. The chief of police of Arlington, TX during a promotional interview however, told me that if I did too much and it shows that I was not a good police officer. On the other hand the assistant chief of police from the Amarillo and in the same interview said that my experience and knowledge were great and gave me his highest score. 😎 No subjectivity in that interview ….. 🤣🤣🤣
  15. 18 years, 2 months, 24 days 😎
  16. Colorado is a border state.
  17. There are so many federal agencies and agencies and departments within agencies that I could probably study it for a month and still not understand it all. If it can be done in three steps, the federal government will do it in 31 steps. Each of the dozens of federal law enforcement agencies have different responsibilities and are under different controlling department. Departments of Justice, Homeland Security, Treasury, blah blah blah…. Many of the agencies that existed for the first 20 years of my career changed for the last 18 years due to 9-11 and a massive government shakeup. That is why Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was created, in 2003. A federal agent is a federal agent just like in Texas a peace officer is a peace officer. It doesn’t matter whether city police, sheriff department, game warden, alcoholic beverage, college police, etc. , they are all Texas police officers. But…. like federal agencies, they are created for a specific purpose. The federal special agents are all federal law enforcement. It is so long ago that I don’t remember but when I was doing child victim crimes about 25 years ago and before DHS, if I remember correctly some child exploitation was usually investigated by US Customer such as illicit child photographs. US Customs and INS were combined into ICE and under the supervision of the newly created DHS. So there is a chance that child photography cases went to DHS by way of ICE by way of Customs. So why did DHS raid a home? Because it was probably part of their investigation. Crimes also overlap like the DEA does drugs and the ATF does firearms so when a guy is selling drugs to fund illegal gun sales, who takes the lead, DEA or ATF? The prosecution doesn’t matter because that is all done by the US Attorneys Office. It’s no different than the Jefferson County DA takes all criminal cases (except Class C like traffic citations) from BPD, PAPD, TPWD game wardens, Sheriff Department, etc. The Feds raid houses just like the local police. There are just a lot more state licensed officers than federal agents. I wouldn’t read too much into a warrant served at a home done by one federal agency rather than another.
  18. Horrible!! I came in to post the same thread and you beat me to it…. 🤣🤣🤣
  19. That is hardly a representative police group. Starting off with “Leaders” is the first clue. Leaders (chiefs and sometimes assistant or deputy chiefs) are many times chosen by political connections or beliefs. The larger the city, the more likely. They are under the direct control of a city manager or mayor. There are certainly outliers who are truly good police officers and an example is just retired Beaumont PD Chief Singletary. Singletary commanded swat teams and narcotics units later into his career. When he was almost a 40 year officer, he was still out there mixing it up with the young guys and backing them up. I remember probably 15 years ago when I was in command on the evening shift and speaking with the night shift commander. I was talking about the misallocation of manpower in reference to the volume of calls and effective police work. Boy did I get an education from the other commander who was junior to me by a few years. He said something like, “You are correct but you are thinking about like a police officer and the product that we are putting out. The city council doesn’t care about the police response, only how much money it will cost if an officer has to work overtime”. What a slap in the face but he was correct. I was thinking of helping people by cutting response times and they were looking at different ways to spend their money. Those sound like the “Leaders”. Yeah, out of almost a million law enforcement officers, dozens…. 🤣🤣🤣 Wow, that many? I looked at their website and you can sign up to help as “Academic” or “Non Police Supporter”. Go figure. There is absolutely a place for communities to get involved and be on committees with the police department. One of the best programs that I have seen or have been involved with was a citizen’s group that started completely on their own and later became involved with the police. They were awesome. Just don’t put them out as a national police group with any national influence.
  20. Sure, that’s the definition or examples of chronic vs. an emergency. This lady didn’t have diabetes or any other chronic condition or disease. From the article that you posted: ”Thurman became septic in the hospital due to excess tissue in her uterus that did not shed from her body, causing a serious infection. Thurman needed a dilation and curettage, or D&C, a procedure in which tissue is removed from inside the uterus.” Septicemia is a life threatening condition. It requires emergency intervention. Apparently this doctor didn’t think it was life threatening as that intervention is an allowed under the GA law. Oh wait, too late in the game he decided that it was life threatening and he performed the D/C…. after waiting 20 hours. Did this doctor think that he had an alibi by claiming that septicemia after a medical procedure was chronic? No, the doctor messed up and his political cronies and medical professionals came to his aid by claiming that the law killed her. You’re a medical professional (I assume). If a person came into an emergency room reporting problems after recent abortion or any other medical procedure and the diagnosis was septicemia, would that have been seen as a chronic condition?
  21. Let’s see, woman had a lawful abortion in another state. She had a “rare” complication, I am assuming after she returned home. Going by the article posted by Big girl, the GA law allows abortions (quoting the article) “only applied to imminent and acute life-threatening emergencies and did not extend to chronic health conditions, even those that can become lethal in pregnancy”. Okay, is a rare complication that may cause death is considered “chronic health condition”? I was c reading the federal National Institutes of Health website and it mentioned diseases or conditions that last over three months such as emphysema, heart, disease, cancer, etc. Perhaps this doctor mistook this emergency situation for the equivalent of a long term condition? The laws says that an abortion is allowed for life threatening emergencies. Did this doctor not spot the life threatening emergency? Apparently later he finally decided it was life threatening when it was too late. It sounds like medical malpractice with a convenient alibi. Uhhhh…. doctor, you messed up and killed a woman by waiting 20 hours for surgery. You either knew that it was life threatening and therefore exempt from the law and failed to act or you misdiagnosed it and did not think it was an emergency but rather thought it was “chronic” (how is a medical emergency from a treatment chronic). Feel free to choose either option. The law had nothing to do with this botched medical treatment and disaster. The doctor and his medical professional colleagues are merely looking for a scapegoat.
  22. I know that it’s not part of y’alls discussion and I don’t know how long it will last but: Lamar is 3-1 after tonight. Last week they beat 1AA #22 ranked Weber State. On the NCAA website they have Lamar listed at #22 in the country and possibly moving up after tonight’s win. The honeymoon might not last long with some big games on the schedule but how long since Lamar football has been listed on the top 25 in 1AA football…. if ever.
  23. Interesting excuse for medical malpractice…..
  24. Fingers doing their own thing tonight
