  1. Back to the cost of imprisonment vs death penalty,  My son is a Capt at the Stiles Unit and you just would'nt believe how many cases of Aids, Cancer, etc their are in the prisons, and their treatment is paid for by (TAX PAYERS)  HOOPs you will have to show me some actual documentation showing it cost more to put someone down than to keep em locked up for 40 years.  I personally think you had a BS moment on that one.
  2. Both parties were different at that time (Kennedy) only the differences were not nearly as extreme as it is today. I was too young to vote for LBJ although he was my commander in chief while in the Navy, my first vote for President was for Richard Nixon, I did'nt really dislike Hubert Humphrey but the ideology of give away programs was taking root and that just was'nt what my daddy had taught me. I think Jimmy Carter gave the Dem's a real pansy image and I think it has pretty much stuck with them all these years. (guess you can tell I did'nt like Carter).
  3. I don't think Lincoln ever thought that our country would become a wellfare state where millions of Americans and others that are not Americans would sit around waiting for someone else to feed them cloth them raise their kids and just about anything else you can think of that comes from give away programs. Todays Democrats use this as their number one tool to get guarenteed votes just so they can keep their happy butts in office. Maybe some of the democrats should think about what John Kennedy said "What not your Country can do for you, but what you can do for your Country." A democrat really did say that Big Girl, that's not a fabricated story from Fox.
  4. I don't always agree with every commentary on Fox but a lot are very insightful and some of the topics you hear on Fox do not even get air time on the CNN's or NBC's and the reason for that is they do not want to report anything that would reflect badly on the Obama administration.
  5.     I'm assuming 5th grade students are our new barometers for what is true or false on news channels? Tell me this Big Girl did you see Prsident Obama make his world tour and apollogize to every one that hates us? I did'nt have to get it from Fox, CNN or andy other network, I saw him and heard him do it for myself, and I think most folks out their form their own educated opinions from what they know rather than just what a network reports. I will say this I did vote for Obama for his second term, and every since I have been kicking myself. (what was I thinking)
  6. Yeah as long as you're doing pretty well, why go get a job. Another old saying I used to hear as a kid was "it's hard to be hungry when you have a couple of hams hung over your shoulder."
  7. I think compassion is great but..the needy or lazy are riding in the wagon and the tax payers are pulling the wagon and it seems that as time rolls on more and more are getting into the wagon and less and less are pulling the wagon...get where I'm going with this? Heck what would happen if we all just jump in the wagon? I would guess then we could just sit still and have compassion for each other, and slowing starve to death.
  8. COUGAR YOU ARE RIGHT THAT O LINE DID HELP OUR RUNNING GAME ALONG LAST YEAR...WELL WE GOT ALMOST THE WHOLE LIINE BACK (BIGGER AND BETTER THAN LAST YEARS) OH YEAH THAT RUNNING BACK IS BACK TOO.....AND HE'S BETTER.  WAIT TILL FRIDAY NIGHT IS ALL I CAN SAY.
  9. Our offense will definitely keep our defense on the bench a lot more this year, we can grind it out or strike really fast, the cougars will find this out Friday night......Dogs 38-17
  10. Bulldogs offense will be better than last year and while the defense might not seem as good at this point, give it a few games and it just may.
  11. Just a comment about first team and second teams Friday night.  Ned had 53 guys suited out and when the season starts their will probably be 43-44 on the varsity. The other 9-10 will drop back to JV. WOS on the other hand had 32 guys suited up...so its hard to come up with a complete 2nd team...WOS had at least half of their starters in the scrimmage at all times..right up to the end
  12. The scrimmages are to find out who the starters are going to be, and even with the two scrimmages it may go several games into the regular season to get it right.  The scrimmages are not games, they are glorified practices that offer the coaches a chance to see who really stands out.  Come Friday night at West Orange Neumann will have the kids going in and out of the lineup continuosly, something that they would'nt do in a real game. There will no strategy or game plan...how could their be this is not a game. But it will be fun watching and getting an idea of the team that will take the field in a few weeks for real.
  13. Come Friday night scrimmage with West Orange If we Win the scrimmage so be it, the main thing Neumann is looking for putting the folks in the positions for the games that do count. He can't get that right if winning a scrimmage is first priority.
  14. Santa Fe has 7 offensive  and 6 defensive starters back from last year.  Last year only two opponents did not score 40 points or more against them, and one of the two was Galveston Ball and they only won two games...so probably gonna be another rough year.
  15. I'm not sure, but  I think some of these things are not allowed by the UIL.
  16. I think Preston White will have the QB position, Seay could could come in at QB (wild dog) some. He would probably be great doing that.  Preston has a good arm and if his line protects him, he will have some great targets to throw to.
  17. Nederland Bulldogs  Ned Grad 1968
  18. Coug, thanks for the tip on getting to the game before kickoff, but we bulldog fans always show up early..when you get out of your car you'll hear cowbells and barking, and when you get back in your car at the end of the game you will hear cowbells and barking, and our band playing conquest.
  19. If Hopkins is not at the top he won't be far from it, I'm not basing this purely on yards gained either, he plays in a balanced system and sometimes the individual stats don't always jump out at you. But the opponents will sure as heck see a lot of his tail lights this year.
  20. Actually 2 cents I'm very sure of it, but just to sprinkle in a couple more ingredients, How bout our head coach Larry Neumann he's the number one cause for heart burn in Vidor, and to top it off you're in our house this year, and like coach Neumann once said "we don't rebuild in Nederland we re-load.
  21. Nederland's defense may not be as good as they were last year but they may not miss it by much, I think the Offense could be a lot better, with a solid O line coming back , probably the best running back in district I think Ned will use ball control to limit our opponents offensive time on the field.
  22. Just got off work, is the game going to happen tonight? if so is someone out there gonna do updates.
