Who did they play and how did they look?
1st scrimmage Crosby  4 TD's Allen      0 2nd scrimmage Crosby            5 TD's Denton Guyer  0
Well played, my friend.. Well played.
Heck, Crosby already won the state title of scrimmages.
Don't get me wrong, Malveaux is a good player but he was the least effective of all Ned's d-linemen last year. He's short and moves slow laterally, he'll be cut down all night with our zone blocking scheme. The only interior lineman that gave us trouble last year was #76 from SC and Caleb isn't that type of player, hard kid to move but we don't run iso plays.
Maybe you need to re-watch the video,  the QB was running for his life most of the game, and Crosby's D couldn't stop anything that Ned was doing.  14-0 in the 1st with 5 min left.  Also,  I hope you have a better  punter than last year the kicking game put you in  a hole all night.
We do have a different punter. We couldn't stop Ned's O? Y'all got 14 points in the first and we played the last 3 quarters to a 7-7 tie. We had a costly turnover and left a couple plays on the field. Y'all got the same 20-21 points you scored on Vidor, Dayton, Connally, and Dawson. That's all y'all score on decent teams and couldn't manage that on Georgetown. We'll see what happens in the second year of the offense. Aston was also told not to run last year so he could get used to reading defenses in the new system. I bet he takes off more this year.
Because we didn't need to score any more.  Defense takes care of their part.  Every game you listed with the exception of Georgetown we won, so i would say it worked out ok.  :)
IJS, in the last couple of seasons in Ned's more noted games against WOS, Crosby, Dayton, Barbers Hill, Vidor and 7 playoff games(#envious) win or lose they haven't scored over 25 points. They did get 31 on Angleton last year though. Your offense didn't get better or more explosive by losing Raines and Shaw either. I think Ned is going to score in the mid to low 20's like the normally do in games like this. Question is can we get 28 or 30?
All those teams you listed have pretty good defenses too. But so what if we don't score 50 a game, our offense isn't meant to just run up the score board.. It's meant to tire out the opposing defense, limit turnovers, and keep our defense rested for the end of the game. Last time I checked you just have to score more than the opposing team. And lately we've been really good at that. White is not bad, don't sleep on him. We replace Shaw and Barrow with Seay, who is very good, and some juniors that are bigger and stronger then them both. Broussard is quick and decent size, Bordelon has hands like glue, and Richardson is very quick. That's not even mentioning Krautz who is faster and bigger than Barrow was. Hopkins only got better in the offseason, and Barton and Dial should really help back there too.
No reason to eat your firstborn....just cause you had another baby. Dogs had a great season last year. (period) Crosby and Angleton will be tests for the secondary.  It will be a good indicator of how Ned will face/defend Central and Ozen.  A road game is difficult no matter who you are.  I do agree with crosby that experience makes a difference at this level.  Ned is fortunate to have enough experience in key positions to help.  Concern is our punting game and coverage and play of LBs.  To 3 peat,Nederland will take its lumps this season with everyone's bulls eye on them.  One misstep may result in a loss.  Undefeated district runs are difficult, focus on the gameplan and execute.  M2cents hit it on the head, that turnover battle will be indicator in this game.  This game is always tough for Nederland in Crosby.
 4.

You have NOONE who can block Caleb Malveaux either.
Josh Blackburn was all-state on a couple teams and did very well against everybody that lined up on him except Washington. He'll be even better this year but still won't be able to block D.Wash. Pryor on Kouron allowed Washington to make even more plays but they're gone now. By no stretch am I saying it will be easy to block Ned's d-line because of their departure but I think Aston will have more time and our line is a year older and stronger. If Aston has time I think Ned will struggle to cover our receivers.
That's a good point about Crosby's speed.  This will be a good test for Nederland...can't really simulate that speed in practice.  It will be good to see this firsthand vs Crosby and Angleton, if either a loss, still a win to prepare for 20 4A.  It will help be ready for Central and Ozen.  No one can kid themselves with our d line.  The only hopes of a running game will on the outside but I am not even so sure about that vs defense.  Teams like Png that rely on a passing attack may cause us more problems that more balanced teams or running teams. Ready to see gameday offense.... Hopkins healthy and strong.  I think Kimler and Seay may set some records this year.  Our offense may be the 12th man on D.
 5. Crosby might be a little better than Ned expect.Speed may be a problem on the outside.  Krautz gives the  best chase we have this season on the outside. Nice play in dayton scrim.  Don't see inside runners getting lose against Ned.  The twin peaks Kimler and Seay make great plays snatching 'em on defense as well as offense.  I'll take Nederland in a closer one than expected.and hope everyone comes out healthy. Seay punts extremely well, shame we can't clone him and put him in.Ready to see what Krautz will do returning one. Lots of excitement to come this season for Dogs.
 6. #18 for Dayton real nice speed, why not in more?  Dayton looked young and small.  I think Dayton might have a problem this season....looked middle of the road...weak in some areas
 7. Dayton will not take Nederland lightly, even if scrimmage, no powder puff game for sure. I know they remember last year and that memory is not a fond one.  Starters will go longer for Nederland this one, got to get them ready for Crosby.  There are still big shoes to fill from last year and until we go 4 deep and beyond in playoffs, no accolades needed.  Records speak for themselves.
 8. Seay and Kimler are names that will give defenses nightmares with their size and agility and good hands. They will give offenses headaches with their ability to defend and jump routes and make those picks. Krautz was also another bright spot on kick off, can't wait to see him return one. With the passing attack, the running game might be a force to be reckoned with.  Like I said, defense didn't miss much and the offense showed some bright spots last night that might turn some heads this season.  #19 took some hard hits and bounced back like nothing.

And the entire team flunks.....not happening in Nederland....probably have better luck with that "mythical" spring game disqualifying someone or maybe an ill-advised 7 on 7 debacle.
Neumann was present when Central won its last 2 district championships.  Neumann was also present when Nederland was perfectly content with 10 consecutive years of just making the playoffs (behind Central in standings most of the time).  Also, Neumann was also on the sidelines when Central blew Nederland out at home giving them the biggest home lost at Bulldog Stadium ever.  So, who's worried about Neumann?
Neumann was also there the last 2 years when Central didn't win a DC and Nederland did.  Say 3 peat. As for the past, you can hang on the DC but as I recall Nederland made deeper runs most of those years in the playoffs than Central, but who care about that?  We ain't got no time for that.... I know you don't worry about the coaches (for very long) over there at Central... :o

 12. Seay and Kimbler were all out playmakers both sides of ball.    The defense didn't miss a beat last night against a very quick Wos offense.  Washington, Mayfield and Malveaux were dominant and they looked very capable of putting heat on anyone at any point last night. The linebackers were effective. Offensive line had one weak link in it  and it affected the running game last night.  White looked ok. Bordelon made a nice play to come back and get that wing and a prayer. The 2nd QB (Smith) was  accurate and would like to have seen him with Seay and Kimbler.  Passing game will open up that running game as the offense progresses. Noel is one of the best kickers who has come through in a while.  Don't see many "problems" at this point just a few areas where the Dogs can be sharper.
