2. Back in the day (70's) when McDonald was the band director, the band would march with the lights out and had flash lights strapped to their legs. Made for a nice half time show.  Not sure why they quit doing those routines though. Heard that it had something to do with the old light system back then getting turned on in time for the teams to come back out. idk. Nice to see that Vidor has developed their homecoming shows into something really exciting to see.
3. Neumann has stated in numerous interviews, newspapers... TV .... and radio, that Dionte will be expected back as starting QB as soon as he healed up from his injuries and was released to play.  He made no secret of that. I never heard at any time that he had any intentions of keeping Raines as QB.  Why all of sudden this student feels he needs to quit to make a point and then go to PNG is beyond me. Not a team payer IMO.  Team is fine, Neumann will be fine.... they will show up at Vidor tomorrow night and take care of business.  Fans will back Neumann and the team like we always do.  Neumann is a good coach and always finds a way to iron out the problems and play some good football. Good luck to the kid that quit... gonna be a long Senior year for that young fellow.

I dont have a dog in this race but after watching this coach lastnight on TV I can see the story from the kid that quite being more of the truth. Looks to me this all started by someone over hearing 3 other players talking to each other. That player wonted to stur the pot and that is were it all got out of hand. If the player that butted in on something that nothing to do with him had keep his mouth shut this would have never gottin this far. The three kid did not go to the coach he came to them and call them in to talk to him. Seems that other people ( not players) have question the call of changing QBs and the coach took it out on these 3 kids.
what TV channel aired this interview with Neumann?

Since my kid goes to LCM, I don't have a dog in this hunt...

But...

It's a tough decision for a coach to make.  Do you put a kid in as QB who has a lot of athletic talent, but struggles with interacting with his team mates, or do you put the kid in who might not have as much talent, but has the ability to work with the others?  Plain and simple, football is not a popularity contest.  A coach has to evaluate the tangibles and intangibles and decide who will be best for the TEAM.  That the "field general" might not be a popular choice shouldn't matter to kids who are team players.  The fact that Coach Neumann had the new QB talk to his team mates and iron things out, shows that coach recognized that there were issues.  That the majority of the team stood behind their QB, even the kid being replaced, after this, shows that the majority of the team play for the sake of the team.  That does not bode ill for Nederland.  They know they have to work at it.  Once you identify an issue, you work to remedy the issue and play ball.  As for the kid who left...hey, you knew what the consequences were before you walked out of the locker room.  I can understand leaving on principle, but to go to the rival across the way shows that principle only goes so far...

I agree... good post!  We just don't need this kind of turmoil going on right now.  District starts this Friday and it's not much time to get these kids re-focused again. Despite the issues with Forney or Lack, this team needs to remember why they play the game of football.

I wish the best of luck to our boys and coaches to recover and re-focus.  Stick with your comrades and see this thing through.

GO DOGS !!!! BEAT THE PIRATES !!!!
6. I agree about the athletic transfers to CO Wilson.  My son played NNLL and Babe Ruth and several of the kids were zoned to Central, but by request of the parents, were transfered to CO for "Athletic" reasons.  Parents said that there was a better athletic program there and that's where they wanted their kids going.

What's up, dawgnuts, haven't heard from you in a while.  Nederland will win because Vidor's not very good.  BTW: there's only one that deserves a rant.  LOL!!    ;D

Central improved greatly from week 1 to Week 2.  This game will be if Ozen can stop our running game vs. If we can stop their passing game... Also, how much each team improves from the Bye week.  This one is hard to tell, honestly... I have to go with the homer pick.. Central by 7...  But trust me, this could go either way...  BTW, who is the home team?
I agree, it's gonna be close. Ozen has a lot of speed but I think the Jaquars will cover well and pull through... they always do. I will not be surprised by a Central win. Good luck to both teams.  Central with the win.

THE KICKING GAME NEEDS HELP!  IN COLLEGE YOU NEED TO KICK AT LEAST TO THE 5 YARD LINE OR THE END ZONE EVERY KICK OFF IF YOU PLAN TO TAKE IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL.  THE KICKER NOW IS NOT CONSISTENT AND HAS A WEAK LEG, NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL.  HOPEFULLY THEY HAVE SOMEONE ELSE THEY CAN TURN TO FOR THE SFA GAME OR FUTURE GAMES.  NO ONE IS SAYING ANYTHING ABOUT THE PUNTER CAN HE KICK OFF?  THEY NEED TO HAVE ANOTHER TRY OUT FOR THAT POSITION TO HELP THE TEAM.
ON ANOTHER NOTE, CONGRATULATIONS CARDS ON A GREAT WIN LAST NIGHT CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU NEXT WEEK AT SFA.

Great win for the Cardinals; the players the coaching staff, the students/alumni/fan's. What a way to come back after SE scored 28 straight points.

Good coaching in the second half by the Cardinals staff.

I read Coach Woodard only has 57 players on scholarship so there will be some room to add players this coming recruiting period.

I hope our kicker gets better or maybe Coach Woodard will have to add a kicker to the list of players he'll sign in the future.

Again great win by the Cardinals!

I know that SELA did not have the starting QB but this was still a very big win for LU.  Should be a huge confidence booster and hopefully propel them to a very good first season.
Their QB, I guess a true freshman, played very well, making some pretty passes, receiver in stride.  They protected him very well.  The winning TD was made despite the refs, illegal procedure calls against us that backed us up.  Their blitz rush timing put them off sides each time.
I am still disappointed in our kicking game.  Our kick offs are short and he did miss a FG.  The other punter showed good leg and put a punt in the corner, like you would expect from your punter.
They had the opportunity to sign Taylor Trahan, the kicker from Nederland, and yet, they let him slip through their hands ..... hopefully they can rectify the kicking problems and do it soon.  Congrats Cards on another well played game. Looking forward to SFA game this weekend.  GO CARDINALS !!!!!!
10. Now this is interesting, I pulled this from : www.texasfootball.com/all-time-playoff-appearances/

Nederland has had (31) playoff appearances: 1937, 39, 42, 44, 45, 53, 54, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 61, 63, 64, 65, 88, 93, 96, 97, 98, 99, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009

Port Neches-Groves has had (26) playoff appearances: 1933, 34, 38, 41, 46, 47, 52, 53, 54, 55, 61, 68, 74, 75, 76, 77, 89, 90, 92, 96, 98, 99, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009

Nederland and PN-G have won only 1 State Championship each.  I don't believe for a minute that PN-G has a higher "Bar" set than Nederland.  I do agree that it appears that Nederland does have more "Homegrown" coaching, if you will, while PN-G has started hiring outsiders.  Faircloth is a good coach and PN-G is getting to capitalize from this.  Neumann is a good coach as well, has anyone forgotten last year's game against PN-G??? The first half we had Faircloth throwing his clipboard on the ground because they couldn't get a grip on us.  As we all know, Nederland ended up losing that game... but it sure took a while for Faircloth to get things figured out, and btw.... the score for that game was 23-7. There were only 2 other teams that kept the all mighty Indians to scoring less points in a game and that was BARBERS HILL AND TEXAS CITY, which were pre-season . . . so Nederland held them to the least points scored on a team in our District in 2009.  We also made play-offs (again) and did all of this with a injury plagued team and several QB changes. Point being..... you can disect our coaching staff, strategies, formations, etc. etc. etc. all you want, but heart, determination and the talent of those kids is what is winning games.  Proof enough of that from our season last year. IMO, one of the most dedicated to winning teams Neumann has had in a long time. It is too early to see so many people speaking so negatively when we haven't even played a district game yet.  Why doesn't everybody just sit back and see what they do with Vidor.  Maybe things will get a little more pleasant on this board.

13. Carson did really well the 4th quarter against BH when he finally aired the ball out. Upto then, running game was not working and we were therefore dead in the water.  If he is able to show consistency throwing like he did in the 4th against BH, then I say leave him in as QB and play Dionte where he was before.  It sure would open up more plays for the offense to have them both out there.  IMO.

1)  PN-G
2)  LC-M
3)  Livingston
4)  Lumberton
explaination?
haha after you explain why Lumberton wont be in.....

1) PN-G needs no explanation, they have played closely, 2 teams better than most in 20-4a...they just have "it" they are the team everyone wants to beat, but few admit it
2) Lumberton can score all night long with the best of em, and defense is bending, but not breaking. Dont have to kill people, a W is a W. Once the injury Bug leaves town and Ltrain is full strength again, will be tough to beat.
3)LCM is scoring at will, D is suspect, but kind of irrelevant against the several inferior opponents in the district this year...(Ozen, Vidor, Central  ;)
4)Livingston or Ned, really dont know about either
LCM will not stop Ozen or Central! This district is wide open for the taking. Both Beaumont schools will be right in the thick of it. The only inferior thing is LCM's defense and Lumberton's their strength of schedule so far.
Hmm, Lumberton's strength of schedule huh. Let's see Jasper, I'll give you that one although historically they are slow out of the gate. Barbers Hill, didn't they spank Nederland last Friday? Oh, and before someone says we played them without some of their starters, that went both ways as we had a couple starters out and lost one during the game as well. Silsbee, picked to make the playoffs in their district, won district champ last year against the team that pounded Nederland the first week. Dude, nobody says that Ozen and Central didn't play two very tough games to start the season with, in fact Ozen is making people notice, but face it, Central got blown out of both of their games and Galveston couldn't hold on to a ball if you super glued it to them. Yeah this district is up for grabs, but it definitely isn't gonna be the same old status quo this year.
SPANKED ..... POUNDED ...... geeze, why so many references to NEDERLAND??????? ..... sounds to me someone is worried about what Nederland is gonna do this year for you to use us as a comparison so much.... imo.

Oh btw, if you call losing by 7 points to BH a spanking, then it will be interesting to me to hear how future loses for the Raiders will be justified and defended. I bet spanked will be removed from the vocabulary choices won't it?

I wish upon the Raiders a sucessful season, as I do for all the teams in our district.  I hope that our DOGS will be more sucessful!!!!
