The Shepherd team this year is far improved from last year. All im going to say.

They certainly had plenty of room.  (And, I bet you say more.)

I'll bite. A team that only had 5 seniors it's hard to expect to much.

    You've been notified Shepherd returns 9-8 ;)
[/quote]9-8 from a 1-9 team.  Not scared quite yet.

    Very true lol

The last two years they've had a senior group of 4 players and another one last year of 4 seniors. The Shepherd teams of the last two years consisted of this years seniors and Juniors.  They haven't been completely out of very many games last year excluding BC,CS and Liberty so i don't believe its to far off based on watching this year's team. They will be improved. Improved enough to get a play off spot? Who knows, to early to tell.
  4. Shepherd scored 1 TD in controlled scrimmage and had 2 for sure pick 6's on  Defense and didn't give up a touchdown. In the live scrimmage, New waverly got the ball first and was moving it well before a strip/sack was returned by Shepherd for a TD. New waverly then moved the ball down the field before busting a long one for a TD. They traded another set of TD's before a 3 and out by New waverly set up another Shepherd TD. Back and forth for rest of scrimmage. Pirates look much improved.
  5. Shepherd played well in the beginning half of the scrimmage, trading scores with Episcopal offense didn't play as good as i thought they would and defense played better and had one pick that probably would of been returned for TD. The live scrimmage portion they did not fair as well. Episcopal dominated and Shepherd looked tired and flat. Still have a long way to go, but they're on their way up.

How can you Huffman folks always say Coldspring and Huffman? The only team in this district that has really done anything in the last few years is Coldspring! I don't see them coming on here and calling the other teams in the district scrubs or always trying to make yourself look better than what you truely are. They prove it on the field. So Huffman has been to the playoff the last couple of years, good for them, but you really haven't shown anything while in the playoffs. Please tell us what your record is in the playoff the last couple of years. In Texas High School 3A football I don't think any of the top 10-20 teams would really get worried if they were going to be facing Huffman in the first couple of rounds.

In the last couple of topics you Huffman folks are starting to sound a lot like last years Liberty folks and we all know how that ended up.

Well there aren't alot of CS fans on here and the ones that are don't post alot, but I'm sure the recognize the talent difference.

Huffman is 2-2 in the playoffs the last 2 years, what is shepherd?

You're right the top 10-20 teams in 3a probably wouldn't be worried about Huffman, but the only team worried about Shepherd in 3a might be Tarkington. I don't think anyone said Huffman was a top 20 team anyways.

Huffman has proved on the field that they are far better that every team in the district except CS. Huffman has handily beat the lower teams and has had some good games with CS, and we ran in to an excellent Navasota team in the playoffs. Nothing to really be ashamed of when your only losses in 3a are to top 10-15 teams. No one in Huffman has ever claimed to be better that CS(unlike Liberty fans) we know were not, but we also know that Huffman is the only other team in the district that has a chance to compete with CS and win in the playoffs. If you can't see the current talent difference then it's because you're not opening your eyes.

I seem to recall the Shepherd team gave Huffman a little bit of scare in last years game. A few bad breaks and we didn't have the firepower to keep up with the falcons. Just something to think about considering that was a group of sophomore and juniors with a couple seniors sprinkled in there.  ;) Shepherd willl compete and i can tell you first hand they won't quit and will play who ever they play with all their might.
  7. Shepherd won the Region 4 Division 2 championship last week. Jance Guynes got 2nd in the 123 with a total of 765. Gilberto Romero got 5th in the 132s with a total of 695. Nate Jones got 3rd in the 148's with a total of 1005. Arthur Maxwell placed 1st in the 181's and David Saucedo placed 2nd also in the 181's with totals of 1235 and 1230. And Charlie Courvelle placed 1st in the 275's with a total of 1685, and also took home heavy platforms best bench award. Their Coach, Coach Cedric White also took home the Coach of the year award for the region. Just wanted to congratulate all of the Shepherd Lifters on a job well done.
  8. Maybe the winning team could work on like pitches that are inside, outside, high, low, etc.. You know kinda like how the farm league teams in the bigs do? only swing at certain pitches and practice on those?? would be less obvious than say bunting everytime.
