Yea not with those numbers. I thought they’d be closer to the cutoff, I was wrong.
-
Multiple schools have been opting up with success. Desoto being the first that comes to mind. Hopefully UIL gets their together and we’re back in region 3 with schools closer to us in proximity.
-
1,000 more students? I’m not sure what our screenshot was but I’m assuming it was around 1800. We’re a large D2. D1 starts at 1903 if I’m not mistaken. 1,000 more kids would be comfortably in 6A which isn’t what I was implying.
-
That’s understandable. My wife teaches in PA so I could send my kid over there if he wanted
-
Come on over and wear that purple and white 😂😂
-
Anyone know when the mocks will start coming out? Wondering if we‘ll see some changes to the districts locally. Hoping they use their damn heads and put PNG back in region 3.
-
We’d have to lose a few hundred kids. I believe Nederland is closer to that 4a d1 number
-
Thanks for the clarification, I’m even more confused now 😂😂. It’s a complete mess. As far as football goes, they should just opt up. Road games wouldn’t be a 3 hour drive and the talent gap between D2 and D1 is minimal
-
I think my main question is how you have families living in port neches but having to send their kids to Nederland. It’s never made sense to me. Would that be a zoning issue?
-
I get the feeling a lot of the folks around here don’t want any growth.

I married into the whole purple cult thing and genuinely love it but I’ve for a few questions. The city line and school district lines are so confusing. You’ve got a lot of Port neches homes that are Nederland school district, a part of Groves that is PA school district, etc. I’ve heard numerous PN citizens opposed to apartments, etc, things to expand the enrollment of our school. While I don’t agree with open enrollment, it’s hard to grow when there’s limited space for people to move to. Is it an old way of thinking? Is it people who are stuck in their ways and don’t want to grow? It almost feels like “we gotta keep the trash out” mentality. Hopefully I’m wrong. Coming at it from a football perspective, it would do them some good to gain about 200 kids and move up to D1. It would make sense logistically. I’m not trying to start any bs, it’s just something that’s been on my mind.

Port Neches-Groves (0) South Oak Cliff (28)---FINAL

Nope, not guilty about anything actually. I support the whole community. I don’t let a few bad apples ruin my perspective. Saying PNG has no class while SOC players are doing the tomahawk in their faces after TDs is laughable. Just say what you really mean 🤣 -

You’ll root for them why? Because they’re predominantly black? Some of yall are sad. It was a gg by both teams. The absence of Bailey was definitely a difference. That game is a tall task for any QB let alone a sophomore starting his 3rd game. Hopefully next season we’re out of this region and can get back to playing schools in our areas. -

This is the best post I’ve seen. Bravo 👏. If you see it, I see it, other fans see it, hopefully the OC sees it. -

I still think open enrollment schools should be forced to play at the 6A level. It’s never been an even playing field but apparently the UIL doesn’t care -
PA by 24. That defense is relentless. I watched them with my own eyes last Friday, they’re for real.

PNG has to make this game ugly. DO NOT get into a track meet or that’s a wrap. Ball control, milk the clock, capitalize on possessions with tds, and force a couple turnovers. Make this a two hour game with limited possessions. You’ve gotta beat SOC mentally before you can beat them. Keep it close, weather the early storm, punch em back in the mouth. They’ll make mistakes. -

My heart says PNG 24-23, my brain says SOC 42-13. They just don’t have any weaknesses. -

Well, we’ll be talking about that chip last season for another 50 years because there won’t be another one -

These football powerhouses are using open enrollment as a form of NIL in college. It’s done to get some of these kids out of unfortunate situations and to a better life. It is what it is. I’m not opposed to it whatsoever. Having said that, schools like PNG better seriously consider the benefits of adapting to this new trend in high school sports. Anyone who couldn’t see the talent gap from the opening kickoff is either naive or doesn’t know ball. Some of the kids PNG put on the field last night were severely overmatched. It’s no fault to them, it’s just facts. There will be some who say “well we won last year”. Last year was a coaching clinic. PNG could play that SOC team 10 times and lost 9 of them. Last season was a perfect storm. If PNG continues to be strict about transfers, that chip last season will be all we talk about for the next 50 years….because there likely won’t be another one. Out of the 8 schools in the 5a D2 quarterfinals, 7 are open enrollment….PNG is the outlier. Look at other predominantly white football powers (Austin Westlake, Southlake Carroll) also open enrollment. We’d also quickly move to D1 which means driving to Beaumont, PA, and Barbers hill opposed to Montgomery and Huntsville. I know why some of you would be opposed to open enrollment. I’m not from here, I’m from Nacogdoches. Our school was about as diverse as it gets. I see the honor, pride, and tradition. What I also see is an old school community unwilling to adapt to new culture. A community that stands solely behind the purple and white….heavy emphasis on the white. -
I was born and raised in Nac, I’m excited about going back home and seeing our fans fill up Homer Bryce. I shattered my wrist on that field back in 99, hopefully Friday is a better experience haha

The only thing I could see is Gary retiring and Jeff taking over at Katy. The issue is, Katy is so watered down with the recent growth of schools, they’ll likely never return to the dominance they once had.

I’ll start a go fund me and raise the difference 😂
