1.
Gas, I can't speak for Silsbee on the 7th grade championship but I do know that all the games were not played. I guess we can amend the district championship claim to a more factual "district leader" since they lack 2 games on their record ;D ;D ;D. Congrats. Good luck to the Stangs tonite and in the playoffs. Rake1
You can only be the "leader" when the race is not over. The race is over, we are the champions. Period. ;D ;D ;D
 2.

Kinda seems like 6 degrees of seperation, you may have dated Paris Hilton with that kind of logic!! A pre district game doesn't count does it? So I guess now maybe we can revert to scrimmages and settle the issue ;D ;D. "We beat you in a scrimmage and our regular game got cancelled so we get the win, hooray we are the champs!!". Incomplete schedule....period.
Gasilla's light doesn't burn that bright.....besides WOS is always the UNDISPUTED DISTRICT CHAMPS RIGHT! There is no such thing as a DISTRICT CHAMPION in middle school....only self proclaimed. See you in 2010!  WOS undefeated in district 2009
88... my light burns bright enough to know hypocrisy when I see it.  ;) Don't try to turn this into another, "hey gang, let's gang up on the big bad WOS thread" either. You did the same thing you claim coop did and you got called out for it. Don't act like a little ticked off teenager now and start throwing insults at me personally unless you want it back at you. And, lay off the smite button because I can do it just as well as you can. Rake, you can look at it any way you want. The bottom line is that our record in district is better than anyone else. There is no such thing as an "incomplete" season. If you don't play the whole thing then it goes to the team with the best record. Period. And Silsbee sure as heck was claiming a district title last year with their 7th grade so apparently there ARE district champions.
 3. No, it's not. WOS finished the district schedule 4-0. The only district game missing was HJ, but they have lost. BC cancelled the second time, but they had already played them and won earlier. So WOS is the district champion.
 4.
To outscore your opponents 268-0 at any age level is unreal! No fumbles for a TD or bad snaps into the endzone or missed tackles for long TD's. What are the odds? Will be interesting to see these kids in the near future. Could keep Dan Ray in the Mustang saddle for several more years knowing what is coming. Congratulations to the kids and coaches!
Thanks ndn!

Don't do it here. You sound like coop!
I make no excuses, did not reference this as an excuse.  If you were anywhere near this game you could tell that.  Silsbee did not get the job done! WITH OR WITHOUT THOSE PLAYERS!  Come on Gas- I do not make excuses.  And noone can sound like COOP! Like I said, we look forward to playing the mustangs in 2010
All I know is what I read. coop mentions hurt players, 12 Silsbee fans jump on him for making excuses. This is no different. 8. This is some good conversation. I like the differing opinion's. One thing I might add, or maybe, get clear. If he doesn't start some of his starters, that doesn't equate to "throwing" the game. There is no way that Barbay would intentionally lose the game. If he does play the backups, he's still going to try to win. One more point, if he loses Chad Allen to injury, he will not win either playoff game...
Yes, and the B team was 112-0. Both teams finished without giving up a point. Very good group of kids in the 7th grade both athletically and as individuals. I hate seeing them go.

 11.
I don't think that there is a chance that a Barbay would go anything but full blast.  I know I have seen it many times where this happens in the pros, only to see the team taking it easy completely lose their momentum and be the victim of a one and done.
To the contrary, it happens every year in the pros. When a team is playing a meaningless game. The pivotal players MAY play the first qtr. This happens EVERY year. There have been times when it has come back to bite them, but it is the exception and not the rule. Again, I don't think Barbay will do it. But comparing it to the pros isn't a good idea because that is done every year. You should be in the middle of a fantasy playoff and have your stud players sit on the day of your superbowl (which is usually week 16 or 17)... SUX!!!!
No..... you didn't. ;D
 13. I don't think any coach would go into a game with the intentions of losing it. That being said, if he doesn't start his vital players to rest them and keep them from injury and starts the backups and they lose then that's a different story. Like someone mentioned earlier, LaVega went to the state finals last year because they rested their starters the last game of the season and lost. Some people said they threw the game, others said he was a genius for doing it. Whichever it was, it gave him a shot at the title which is everyone's ultimate goal. I personally don't think Barbay will rest his starters just because of who he is. But I will say this, I guarantee you that if he does start Andrew Leigh and Chad Allen and one of them sustains a seson ending injury, you can bet that there will be doubters on this board saying, "Why risk your starters in a meaningless game?"" They have clinched a playoff spot. Losing this game will not kill them and will, in fact, give them a better chance to advance to the next round. If you look at it from a coaching stand point, he gains nothing by risking his players friday except for a little pride and people on message boards claiming he took a dive (which I really don't think he gives a crap about). All in all, it will be interesting to see what he does.

We wanted to play!
I thought something was amiss there too Gas. I have seen several posts by Icewater that were well thought out made good points etc., then all of a sudden he can't spell anything and posts like he is in 3rd grade. My guess is you are correct. I don't know him but from his previous posts that sure seems like it was someone taking over his account.
Yeah, we pretty much confirmed my suspicion earlier today. None of the coaches from WOS think that HJ, Silsbee or BC are scared to play. Just calm down. Silsbee 88, the one thing you said though that I have to disagree with is your comment about the athletic ability of the silsbee 8th grade team over WOS. I saw the game this year up close and both teams are equally talented. The silsbee RB is very fast and broke off a long run, but that was about all they did offensively. The WOS RB is very fast as well. Realistically, both teams are evenly matched. Not trying to take anything away from silsbee, they are good, but so is WOS. I look for them to have some good battles over the next few years.
Did not mean to say that WOS has no talent or athletic ability, merely letting coldwater and 2010 know that Silsbee is not afraid of strapping up against them anytime or any place.  But go back a year and look at how Silsbee dominated WOS in that game.  Yes, WOS won this year and I too look forward to many year of well fought battles on the gridiron between these two teams.
Yes sir, I am fully aware of the beat down administered by Silsbee last year. All I will say is that there were some mistakes made last year that were not player related in that game last that have since been rectified. Last years game sould have been more like the one this year. Two equally talented teams battling it out with the winner being the one who played the best defense made the fewest mistakes. ;D
 19.
Gas, thanks for shedding a little light on the subject about scheduling. I thought the whole thing was a bit odd because there were other places to play. I guess the only folks who know how the whole conversations went were the coaches and we can't go back and change that. I just wish that the cancelled games could be made up so "ALL" the boys who have been affected could get the opportunity to play. I have enjoyed watching all the schools play this year, especially since we know a bunch of folks from other teams. It will really be fun when they get older. Look forward to some awesome games in the future. Rake1
Hey, no problem. And yes, it sucks for the kids the most because they work their butts off during the week looking forward to Thursday, then they don't get to experience the pay back. We prepared for BC then HJ in back to back weeks and then... nothing. Hopefully the preparation will help both teams for next year. At least we got to play BC once this year, really would have loved to play HJ.
 20. I'm really interested to see how the Mustangs fare against this offense. It will be interesting. Also, Coldspring runs a similar version of offense, so this will be a good test. I also think that OF will play with intensity, I've never seen them play otherwise. They always play with heart.

 22.
Icewater, I have no idea which games you have been watching concerning the A teams?? Yes WOS is talented but they have been far from dominant. They beat Silsbee by a touchdown after Silsbee fumbled 5 times and they squeaked out a 6-0 win over BC in a pre district match up. I agree they are good but the statements about nobody wanting to play them is more than a little off base. The BC game that got cancelled was a mystery? I understand the Varsity rules in situations like this, especially concerning possibly messing up the fields any more than they were. Bridge City's field was wreck to say the least so instead of playing there while the Freshman and JV went to the middle school campus the 7th and 8th grades got left out. Why couldn't they play at Dan Hooks stadium? I know 7th and 8th graders wouldn't mess the field up nearly as bad as the bigger guys? Or even better, the JV and Freshman should have played at Hooks Stadium and the middle schools should have played at East Campus leaving the field at BC ready for the varsity. JMHO. As far as playing the 8th grade A team, I'm sure both BC and HJ would line up in the Wal Mart parking lot and play WOS if they would let them, no fear from either school.
Rake, couple of things... first, that was not Icewater posting that, I guarantee you. I know him and that is not something he would say. 23.
We have always done it since I have been close to the program, last 10 years. But the other day some Dad was saying it was not legal and he did not know how we were getting away with it, pointing out that two kids who played JV were not dressed for the varsity as they have in the past. Even though there were two other JV kids dressed out who played JV. Is there any rule? I looked and of course found nothing saying it was wrong. Others thoughts and knowledge?
They can't pay for the JV then play for the varsity in the same week. However, our JV did not play this week. So they were OK to play this week.
