  1. You hit the nail on the head. People want to blame the coaching because it makes them feel better that the talent just isn’t there and they don’t want to acknowledge the issues with the district. BISD becoming more inner city like HISD with dominant basketball and lauaghable football. It’s not the coaches fault they don’t have much talent or the kids have no discipline.
  2. I’m not from Beaumont but live here now and I’m not familiar with the cliques everyone is referring to. The current coach at Brook has legit credentials. I’m not sure coaching is the issue, but rather think the admin is. I also don’t think that Brook has a whole lot of talent right now. They’ve got a good QB but other than that are there any other D1 prospects? It could just be that WB isn’t very good bc they are in an extremely tough district and they lack talent.
  3. There are many reasons football is bad at brook. If you look, however, at the successful programs now in Texas most of them are suburban schools that have a lot more money. Unfortunately, people are fleeing the BISD school system for a multitude of reasons, some reasonable and some not. If Brook dropped to 5a it would help, but as long as they stay 6a they are going to struggle against the wealthier teams and the more they struggle, the more people will transfer and it just keeps getting worse. Their only hope is to drop classifications and then they’ll probably compete a little better but not state championships. The ship has sailed.
  4. Agreed. But we aren’t talking basketball and it’s a sport where you don’t need as many kids and facilities don’t make a huge difference. Dont get me wrong, I wish and hope Beaumont gets better in football, but I realistically don’t see it happening. Too many things in the community at large are against them.
  5. I posted the following in the WB Summer Creek thread WB and BU are low on talent lately but even if Beaumont had 1 school, 2 schools, or 3 it wouldn’t make a difference. For the most part, and there are a few exceptions but not many, the successful schools in 5 and 6a are large suburban schools in which the districts have money and the parents too. The schools have better facilities, coaches, and the parents have money to pay for individual coaching. For the most part WB and BU are missing both of these two ingredients. It’s sad, but Beaumont ain’t what it used to be and it’s getting much worse. The schools are dangerously close to being like inner city schools. This isn’t the kids fault and I feel sorry for them because it’s the parents and former administrators that ruined everything. Maybe they can turn it around but it’s unlikely. A drop to 5a might help but people of all types are leaving BISD and I think that’s what left won’t win many games.
