  1. Its a completely different culture across the board. Barrow has caught a lot of heat and owns some of it but its a Nederland ISD issue. I read a lot about kids playing multiple sports and all that. It really goes to overall involvement. PNG encourages a culture where kids are involved at a early age one way or the other. From students doing broadcast during games, 75 girls in drill team, band, and all the way thru into their athletics. Nederland needs to take a hard look at why their students are not getting involved. I might be wrong but I believe if your a cheerleader or drill team at Nederland you are not allowed to participate in spring sports, but I know at PNG they can. Why does one place have this type of participation in all there organizations and literally across the street their number shrink every year. One answer culture. Culture starts with your leaders and there is more than one leader at Nederland who should have to be answering these questions. Barrow and a lot coaches are going to take the bullet for this and rightfully so but their is still plenty of people from Principal Natalie Gomez to our Superintendent who need to take a hard look at the type of culture they are creating around them.
  2. I can assure you taking shots at a couple boys certainly doesn't help our community. I responded to your comment because you are the one who decided to take cheap shot and spew false information at a couple kids not me.
  3. As someone that is actually aware of the facts I can tell that statement is 100% false. Couple of facts before I get on my rant. 11.7 athletic scholarships in D1 baseball w rosters of 27 players or more. 24 athletic scholarships in Junior College baseball. Depending on the Junior College you might see rosters as high as 45 to 60 players in the fall before they cut half to play in spring season. Facts... Driskell after summer had zero offers. After playing well in fall he had multiple offers. Ultimately he chose to take a full scholarship to Panola. Noah Kendrick was committed to Alvin Community College at the end of summer. After playing well in Jupiter Florida in the fall he received interest from some D1s and ultimately chose to take a scholarship to pitch for Sam Houston. Which is a program he had always had high interest in but there was never an offer until they saw him at there camp in October. Although you might see a number of commitments come after a senior's school season very few actually have scholarship dollars associated with them as the money is gone. That is before you take into consideration the transfer portal. I know multiple kids that had scholarship amounts change or even pulled due to transfer portal, injury, coaches been fired, or a number of other reasons. Ultimately those boys made a tough decision which was theirs to make. They dedicated themselves to a dream and goals. Did they hit all their goals no but it wasn't from a lack of effort or talent on their part. They are still working toward there goals. The funny thing is I read a lot of these blogs and I do not ever hear a pep when a kid decides to stop playing baseball or basketball to focus on football. This kind of stuff just blows my mind. How about you tip your hat to couple kids that left on the field for Nederland instead of taking pop shots at them. I promise this community and culture around our sports would be better for it. If Navy Dog or anyone else peeking on a keyboard would like to speak further about this matter please fell free to contact me anytime. Be happy to meet you in person and have chat. Just let me know I'm not hard to find. Jamie Kendrick
  4. Agreed. Pretty easy to throw a shot out when you havent seen a team play. Barber's Hill is always one of the better teams in 5a. Nederland more than held there own in both games and had there opportunities but came up short. Barbershill pitched well and played clean baseball in the field. Good game BHill hope we get a chance to run it back in playoffs.
  5. Great pitchers battle. Bhill pitched 1 hit allow Kendrick for Nederland 2 hits.
  6. 11-3…they were 8-3 before Jasper tourney.
  7. Nederland 4 HJ 2 Driskell WP complete game
  8. Nederland 5 Vidor 0. Freshman Rey goes 2 and 0 on season. Dogs 4-0 on weekend. 5-0 on the week.
  9. Well might not go down in the win column, but 10 Nederland players crossed home plate and 0 Jasper players did. You can take that however you want to take it.
  10. Senior Noah Kendrick, Sam Houston State commit started scrimmage. Went 3 innings perfect w 8 strike outs. Nederland won 10-0
  11. The players mother resigned from Nederland and took a teaching job at Kelly. The player did quit football to concentrate on baseball but staying at Nederland for his senior year.
