  1. Don't forget the thrashing HF gave yall! Fannett could be a regional tournament team, though!
  2. I guess I was not very specific on the parameters of the topic. Oh well. It's a crappy thread if there isn't any arguing or debating!
  3. Going from putting all your best athletes on offense to putting your best athletes where they can best help the team win is a crazy idea! Faircloth is a really good offensive coach, but a lot of times he left their defense undermanned and really wasn't worried about it. How long does Coach Joseph stick it out down here?
  4. That's a fair point and maybe he was a better player while Hefner was a better prospect. The title of the thread is best player ever at a school and I think you have to go with the guy with NBA rings (Davis) over a 6'4 post who kind of sniffed some semi pro workouts.
  5. You're missing the point. Where you are offered to go to college indicates who the better players are. Weisbrod would have surely chosen to go to a school like A&M instead of Lamar had that been on the table.
  6. Respectfully disagree. Hefner chose A&M over offers from Houston and Oklahoma. Weisbrod went to New Orleans/Lamar. I'll take Hefner over Weisbrod. Jamie Weaver went to Houston and was on the Phi Slamma Jamma teams. I'll take him over Hefner. Buddy Davis won an Olympic gold medal and two NBA titles in the 50's. He's your winner for Nederland. Don't tell Colton's dad I said that, though!
  7. They should probably just can the football program and be a baseball powerhouse like Central Heights.
  8. In all seriousness, what is LCM's record next year? BC, Splendora, and HJ are built in wins. WOS, Vidor, Lumberton are built in losses. That's 3-3 with four games that could go either way followed by a first round loss to CH or Kilgore?
  9. J'Covan, Persia, Mullens. Little Langston was probably the third best freshman in the area last year behind Garrett at WB and Nederland pg, but he doesn't go to Kelly anymore. PNG kid. Their best ever is Joel Lafleur.
  10. Every coach in America sends that text. Eventually the LCM people will realize that Peevey is all fluff and no substance.
  11. I'm curious to see how the Bobcats perform at TABC in coming weeks. Not sure their youth can replace the experience that left. Hopefully Whitmire can make up for it.
  12. Supposedly the Bears had over 700 kids report for workouts this week. Will it translate to a bunch of wins?
  13. I don't think Kountze winning the district is all that out there. East Chambers lost a lot, Orangefield lost almost all their scoring, Anahuac lost the best big in the league, and Buna seems to be really down. I still have EC I think. My bold prediction is the the Dotson kid at BU signs with a major college program.
  14. Thanks. I expected more from the Beaumont crowd. Maybe Nederland too, but they're preoccupied with bashing their own football program right now. And speaking of Bulldogs, I heard BJ Tyler is going to be the next coach at Kelly. Anyone else hear that?
  15. Did they not hire the West Brook coach/ex Kelly coach to get the West Brook/ex Kelly qb? Was that not the move?
  16. They've always been in really competitive districts and really have not gotten in a whole lot. They had a chance at beating Manvel this season.
  17. I get that Harris is a high major basketball player and Miller is going to play football, but Drelon is absolutely better than Harris right now. He's got to be Silsbee HS best athlete ever.
  18. When was the last time Vidor reached the playoffs? My bold prediction is that PNG boys basketball gets their first ever playoff win next year. They've been knocking on the door.
  19. Right answer for Orangefield is Valentine Catt. Maybe Austin Farias since he's an Orangefield native.
  20. Deweyville Pirates. 1. Bimbo Wilson, 2. David Wilson, honorable mention Hunter Estes.
  21. Now that we got our guy at Orangefield, this board has gone dead. Who is the best player to ever play at your school? Just pick one.
  22. Yes, something did happen. And it is a story that will really make you laugh. Only in Bridge City...
  23. And Orangefield Board of Trustees sighs with relief...good hire!
  24. I said exactly what I feel about Buna. It's a community that doesn't produce a lot of elite athleticism. Your football and track records back that statement up. So what? Orangefield, and many other communities, are similar. To compete and succeed in basketball with lesser athletes is commendable. Still think that is a complement. Or maybe you think your hometown is a hotbed like Miami/Dade County? Maybe the coaches have underachieved with the abundance of talent? I think most people probably share my opinion.
