  1. I think Diboll will give Newton a game, I still see Newton winning 34-21. Remember Diboll didn't have a week of non-practice.JMO
  2. where did that come from, neither team has had a real practice for at least a week until monday. I think they both will be rusty and out of shape. Endurance will be the key late and hope no injuries,,just a good clean game. JMO,
  3. if there is a game, it will be muddy and I will go with them eagles but it could be fumbles everywhere.
  4. Prayers for Braden Carter and family.
  5. LCM has 11 wins and only 4 loses to Newton I do hope that you realize that all but 2 of those games were before 1974 and Little Cyprus was not even consolidated with Mauriceville then. Think about relying on the past. Now in the 1960's Little Cyprus had Newton's number but they haven't since becoming LC-M.
  6. Prayers up for Kirbyville and community
  7. It might be but they won state in 3a Div 2 and Newton didn't . Newton stacked up fairly good against Silsbee.
  8. Coach Barbay ,as a concerned friend. I tell you to walk softly and beware that you are in a arena full of water moccasin-es. Old saying is, "its hard to concentrate on fishing when you are up to rear with alligators.jaf
  9. Corbin Foster of Newton also made 1 st Team all-state linebacker.
  10. The word is they will publish the job opening March 20 until then he has not been officially reasigned that is how the super and school board is getting away with saying that he has not been fired are put in another position
  11. I heard that they waited until registering to be on school board election time was up. I hope there is alot of write opposition in the election. Send a message. If I am not mistaken, Jasper has had a new superintendent three or four years in a row. Something isn't right in J-town.JMO
  12. Injury bug must have bit them, I know they lost a lot of talent last year. Remember they beat a descent Jefferson team. Injuries has so much to do with small schools, sometimes there is a pretty big step down from first teamers and replacements. anyway Newton needs to start playing with a purpose because anyone can get in quicksand. Don't think we will but I have seen several Eagle teams lose to descent teams that we should of won, just some bad breaks at wrong time. I just don't want us to get over-confident.JMO
  13. Newton--Sunnyvale--Brock. Quote Postby Bearcat77 Fri Oct 28, 2016 8:32 am MaxPreps small schools national football rankings Oxbridge Academy edges Trinity Christian Academy for No. 1 spot. By Kevin Askeland | MaxPreps.com "For three straight years, Trinity Christian Academy (Jacksonville, Fla.) has been the small school powerhouse in the nation, but this year another Florida small school is making a run at the top. Oxbridge Academy (West Palm Beach, Fla.) has moved into the top spot after starting the season at No. 2. Oxbridge Academy has just one loss on its schedule and that was to national power IMG Academy. Among the big wins for Oxbridge Academy include victories over Carol City (Miami), Flanagan (Pembroke Pines) and American Heritage (Delray Beach). Trinity Christian Academy, which comes in at No. 2, has an uncharacteristic three losses on its schedule, falling to IMG Academy, Cocoa and Lincoln (Tallahassee). Maryville (Mo.) is 10-0 and comes in at No. 3 while another Florida team, Madison County, is No. 4. Perennial Ohio small school state champion Marion Local (Maria Stein, Ohio) comes in at No. 5. Small schools are those schools that belong to state enrollment divisions with schools that generally have under 1,000 students. Rankings are based on the MaxPreps computer rankings. Teams are listed with their record and their ranking. MaxPreps Small Schools National Football Rankings 9. (NR) Newton (Texas), 8-0, 44.8 17. (NR) Sunnyvale (Texas), 8-0, 42.9 23. (4) Brock (Texas), 8-0, 41.8
  14. I don't see CC beating Newton or Garrison beating Crockett. Newton is just playing solid football and Crockett is solid and Garrison has a lot of two-way starters. JMO
  15. this game is going to be a smash mouth football at its best. If Tigers are ready they will win by a touchdown. JMO
  16. we older & wiser folks at Newton think we are fairly healthy. as of today, we are healthy and ready. I can hardly wait for this game and just pray no one gets injured in the game and safe travel for our district neighbors. I do think this game will have a few points being produced and it could be a slobber knocker game.JMO
