1. I texted Mr Guillory last week and asked for him to support Coach T.  He said "i will".  But after reading this thread I do not think he was being completely honest..
2. I guess my only issue is why did the committee actively go out and recruit applicants.  I mean I'm all for following all the laws concerning this, but why seek certain individuals?  post the opening, let those who wish to apply do so.  Dot all the i's and cross all the T's, follow the rules to the letter of the law.  But thier should be no doubt in anyones mind that Coach T deserves the chance.  But obvioulsy there is some doubt in someones mind.
3.

I have been quietly following this thread since I no longer live in Orange and don't have a dog in this fight, however I will say this.  I graduated from WO-S in 1984 when we were still a strong and proud 5A school.  I left Orange in 1989 and joined the service. I haven't lived there since but have always still followed closely the things happening at WO-S and the Orange area.  While I understand the need to accept applications and to interview others, the decision of who the next HC/AD should be should have been decided the day Coach Hooks announced his retirement even though it would have to remain a secret until hiring formalities had been completed. To me it doesn't matter who else applied, the one most deserving for the position is Coach Thompson.  He has been at the heart of Mustang athletics far to long to be passed over.  At one time I would have loved for my sons to have played football at WO-S had I stayed in Orange, but with the direction the school has taken the last 10-15 years I am not so sure about that.  One thing I am sure of however is that I agree with some of the other post that states this decision could effect the complete future of the district.  I could very well see WO-S being a 2A school in the next 3-5 years if the decision is a bad one.  I think most of us will agree that sadly many kids stay in school only to plays sports and successful sports programs will keep them around for that.  And as far as those not playing sports with the recent academic history of WO-S, its not easy to miss the fact a lot of parents would consider moving to other districts close by where a better quality education can be obtained.  Sorry if that last statement angers anyone, and its one I as a grad of WO-S hates to make, but academics there are not the same as when I was there. Sometimes and outsider can see things those involved within cannot.  It is what it is...
Academics are what you make of them. I'm also a product of WOS and an 84 graduate. All three of my kids go to school at WOS and they are getting a great education. I would put their grades and TAKS scores against anyones. Not saying they would be better just saying that they are comparable to kids at other schools. My wife and I make sure of it.
I agree with you about academics being what you make them, and I'm sure you and your wife ensure your kids are doing what there supposed to do to get a decent education.  There in lies part of the problem, your doing as parents whats neccessary, however it appears many other parents are not. They may say they are, but I doubt as many are taking an active role in thier childrens education as you are.  As we all know, education begins at home. I wasn't saying a decent educaton was not to be had at WO-S, but if you look at the overall situation it has declined since we were there.  I'm sure there are plenty of qualified teachers still there as they were before who want to see kids do well.

5. When will a new head coach be named?  Is there a deadline that one must be named by?
6. Well it was close to my 34-14 prediction. I have said all along I thought LCM could win 5 or 6 games this year. and now after this I really believe it.
7. LC-M will keep it close for the 1st half, mainly due to high emotions. The Stangs speed will wear down LC-M in the 3rd and 4th qtrs. LC-M will play much improved, but WOS wins 34-14.

9. anyone know when the www.wo-s.com website will be updated? It still has 2007's schedule on it. Also not much activity on the forums there either.
10. Won't happen this year. Still a year or probably 2 away from competing for district. Takes time to build a program. But they will be better.
11. Does anyone know how many times it takes up and down the stands to equal a mile?
12. LC-M should be better this year than last but still probably a year away from a playoff spot. I say they go 4-6 this year. 5-5 with a break or two.
13. 1987 WOS vs Aldine Nimitiz (ranked nationally # 3 I think) WOS wins 6-0 1987 WOS vs Jasper, WOS wins 3-0
14. +2 Wasn't playing in it, but staying so close with the '85 yates team only to loose out was disappointing. i think had WO-S won that one, they woul dhave taken state that year as well.
15. Well I don't live in the WOCCISD district, and don't have kids that go there so I don't have a dog in this fight. But as I grew up in the cove and went to West Orange schools all 12 years, its troubling to see a once mighty, and proud school be brought down to such levels. I did make it to 2 home football games this past year, and was amazed at how small our numbers have become. Sure I knew we have dropped to 3A (we were 5A when i went there) so I knew it would be different, but still was a little shocked. Even the crowd was smaller and ALOT quieter than they used to be. I can remember games against TJ, PN-G, Nederland where the stadium literally schook. I don't know the answer to stop all the people from leaving, and don't know what will get ALL athletic programs back to where they should and need to be, but SOMETHING needs to be done. I admit I personally seen a little, but have read a lot and WOS just appears to be in an all around sad, sad situation.
16. Why are these folks SO unsupportive of the athletic programs??? Are they embarassed that the WOS football program has had so much success?
17. He does do a super job covering the local schools. One question though, was it his 1000th game or was it KOGT's 1000th high school game broadcast? Just wondering cause I don't think he owned the station or was broadcasting back in '84.
18. I stated in another thread that I think LCM can win 3 maybe 4 games this year and probably be competitive in maybe 2 more. Who knows with a little luck thrown in too could the Bears be looking a having a .500 season? Not putting the cart in front of the horse but you know the old saying that starts..."on any given Friday...."
19. I'll go out on a limb here and say LCM will win 3-4 games next season and will keep at least 1-2 more close and competive. That after last year will be a major improvement. And yes, rebuilding this program must be done in small steps.
