I don’t see how Auburn can be ranked so high. Not impressed.
Whom would you rank ahead of them?
Asking for a friend.

How sweet it is!

And the beat goes on.

was the flag thrown before or after he broke the run?

Tip of the hat to the Aggies. the better team won
-
Auburn should win this one rather easily. As Auburn's defense is the strongest it has been in years, particularly along the defensive front. Which will be going against A&M's weakest unit. I expect the Auburn defensive tackles to control the line of scrimmage against the young, inexperienced guard/center trio of the Aggies.

Neither team is playing very well. Kyle Field should prove to be the difference.
So
I look for Auburn to be desperately trying to score late in the game to tie or go ahead. And falling short. As has been the case over the last three losses. A&M wins by 4 to 7 points.

Sometimes the worst thing for the better team is a quick easy early score. It can cause that team to relax, thinking yes the rout is on. While other team continues to play hard.
Perhaps that happened to a degree in this game.

We learned Auburn is a very bad football team.
-
No. I am thinking Auburn is better than lsu.

Auburn slows down Fournette. And wins going away 38 to 21.
-
So you would leave out the undefeated 27-0 defending national champs? Hmmm
I think a lot of folks on that committee where hoping for a GT W last night to make this easier.Yup. It is about the 4 best teams. IMO both Baylor and TCU are better teams than FSU.

bamr
Oregon
TCU
Baylor
It won't be this way but if I was in charge this is how it would go down.

Ketch is aptly named.

Another Coach in Waiting agreement.
Who is Burton Fowles?
Burton Fowles is a real estate agent in Columbia, SC. He knows as much about the SC athletic dept as I know of Auburn's. Nothing!

The only thing I think that says is.... the Big 12 was more evenly divided in the north and south than the SEC is in the east and west. If
If I was in charge Auburn would be moved to the East and Missouri to the West.
-
Yep. SEC is having a down year. The defense of the SEC's best team surrendered 630 yards on Saturday. Reckon what Oregon or Baylor could do to them?
It would be rich if Missouri were to win in Atlanta. And no SEC team make the playoff.
-
Does Malzhan take any heat for having to kick all of those FGs and not scoring TD's?
Nah. He still hung 44 on bamr.
He did catch some flak over starting the true Freshman at tail back., who fumbled it away on the first play from scrimmage, instead of the Senior Payne. How he could have thought that was a good idea is beyond me.
And some flak over the poor time management at the end of the first half.
-
I always hate to see the refs call a pass uncatchable when the main reason it was uncatchable was because the receiver's route was impeded by a DB who's got him jammed up 10 yards down field.
Right. On most 'uncatchable ball' calls the players are in position to make a play and the ball is clearly overthrown. In this instance the ball was thrown to the proper spot but was 'uncatchable' due to the db holding the wr. He checked the wr at LOS then checked him again after he was past the first down marker.
Would not have mattered in the long run but still was a BS call.
Cooper is a 1st round draft pick playing against scout team fodder, if that.

Better than Auburn:
UCLA
Michigan State
Notre Dame
Utah
Arizona
Baylor
I think that should cover it. Most of them play better defense than Auburn.
Hell, Auburn lost to UTAM. That's just pathetic.
Wal-Mart UT t-shirt > anything aggie
Alright. Somethng of substance to respond to.
Baylor is already ranked ahead of Auburn. It doesn’t look as if you put a lot of thought into your list.
You harp on Auburn's poor defense. Here is the current rankings in total defense of the teams listed above.
UCLA 76th in total defense
Michigan State 10th
Notre Dame 42nd
Utah 66th
Arizona 96th
Baylor 15th
Auburn 59th
Oh, and by the way, Mississippi State is 88th overall in total defense. So by your standards they shouldn’t even be in the top 25.
Anyway.
From what I gather you are measuring Auburn by the loss to A&M ( and are disregarding Auburn’s away victories over OM & KSU. Plus the thorough drubbing of LSU. A&M may not be a strong team but they do have a winning record. And Auburn does have a quality loss to the number 1 team in the country, at their place after falling behind 21-0.
UCLA beats 4-6 Virginia by 8, 6-3 Memphis by 7, 5-5 Texas by 3, 5-5 Cal by 2, 2-8 Colorado by 3. Two quality wins over the Arizonas. Quality Losses to Utah and Oregon. But they haven’t blown out the lesser lights. Nah. I don’t see UCLA being a better team than Auburn.
Michigan State has played 3 teams with a winning record, losing two of them-Oregon and OSU. They are may be a tad over rated. They are not better than Auburn.
Notre Dame’s only quality win is over 5-4 Stanford. Unless you want to count the victory over powerhouse 6-3 Rice. But hell even A&M beat Rice. And got beat like a drum by ASU. Notre Dame can’t be ranked ahead of Auburn.
Utah? LOL. Utah is currently ranked 23. If Utah should be ranked ahead of Auburn, are you saying Utah is the number 9 team in the country or are you saying Auburn should be ranked 24th in the country.
3 losses on the season. One of which was to 3-7 Washington State at home. A&M would easily beat WSU. Two OT win over 4-5 Oregon State. One quality win- UCLA. Utah is currently ranked 23. Can't put Utah ahead of Auburn.
Arizona might be better than Auburn. Big win over Oregon. Quality losses to USC and UCLA. They are a good team. Yet their defense is worse than Auburn's. So we can't put them ahead of Auburn
Baylor is already ranked ahead of Auburn.
And there you have it.

Yep. For such a declarative statement there hasn't been any followup has there?
It's easier to argue with the wall. You guys are too drunk on SEC koolaid.
Nah. That's not it. He threw something out there and can't back it up.
But thanks for joining the conversation.

How Is Auburn #9?!?!
So of 10 through 20 who would you have ahead of Auburn? And why?
Good luck with asking for logic. It's in short supply around here.
Yep. For such a declarative statement there hasn't been any followup has there?

Similar to he SEC? The conference which had an unranked, 22 point dog, beat the supposed #3 team in the country. Both of those teams are ranked in the bottom 50-125 teams in Total Defense (Auburn 53/ UTAM 102).
So you judge the strength of a conference by where it's teams rank in total defense?
#8 Auburn at #17 Texas A&M

My friend wonders that a home win over a ranked Michigan team, in the case for Wisconsin, a team Army had on the ropes, carries more weight than Auburn's two road wins over ranked teams. Don't forget Auburn beat 3-1 Tulane
My friend wonders that Florida's 4 wins over teams, 3 of which were at home, and with none of the opponents having winning record, carries more weight than Auburn's two road wins against ranked teams. Don't forget Auburn 3-1 Tulane.
My friend wonders that you give more credit to Texas for losing, although to a very good team, than you give credit to Auburn for beating two ranked teams on the road. Don't forget Auburn beat 3-1 Tulane
