1. I'm a bit confused about the excitement of this trade. Is George Springer going to move to RF? It seems like Springer and Tucker are on the rise while Gomez may be on the decline. Is Rasmus going to be the odd man out?

 3. Enrollment does not matter. Splendora is not very good in football. Splendora could possibly be worse than last year, Anahuac should be about the same, EC will definitely be worse, and Liberty should be better. Out of those 4 you might now see one playoff team...well that's if they playoffs were still at 3. I'm sure one will sneak in at 4. That's not a very strong preseason schedule. Scrimmages are some good competition.

Totally shocked to see PN-G scrimmage a 3A team picked 7th in their district. You don't gain anything by this. Tx City will be a good opponent which will bring out the weaknesses in PN-G. Wait until next week to evaluate your team.
Two things.  1. PNG under BF has always had spring football so only one scrimmage. When they decided to forgo spring fb this year it left the scrambling for a first week scrimmage. HF was available. 2. HF was a 7th place team, but they were very very young. Still young, but they have talent. Most of that team Friday night was Sophs and juniors, much like PNG. C. Anytime you get to hit someone else its a plus.
Wrong. HF graduated A LOT!!! If they are better than 2-8 this year it will be for two reasons...their preseason schedule is very weak and their quarterback may be the best athlete in the district.
I do not like that 4 teams already make the playoffs in 4A and 5A. But not they are going to split classifications into Division 1 and Division 2 and take 4 teams from each district. What a joke!!! New AD's all over the state are going to look good bringing teams to the playoffs that haven't been in forever...think about it. There will be at least 1 district somewhere in the state that has 5 teams. You could possible go 1-9 and make the playoffs.
It just adds a week. But what if that 5 team district have 4 of the best teams in the state. Then they will have a chance to prove themselves in the playoffs or go home.
It's not about adding time. The playoffs are completely watered down now....it's just like little league...give everyone a trophy. If a 5 team district has 4 of the best teams in the state then oh well. I'm not even a big fan of when they extended it to 3 teams. If you want in...get in the top 3. The new format next season is going to make a lot of people look good. It's never the top 32 or 64 teams that get into the playoffs because some districts are better than others. So be it. I just do not like it but it's going to happen.
 6.
how can a coach help HJ become a plAyoffs team from a doormate team in one year. I can say last years silsbee 13 point victory will be doubled or more this year. Coaching cant compete when the other team has you out skilled by leaps and bounds at all of the skill positions. With the exception of losing garica, Holmes, and a few others, silsbee is reloading with a even better team.
Not an HJ homer but they were not a doormat last year. I believe they were in every game for a long time but Silsbee and WOS. Obviously those two are full of much better athletes. Returning almost everyone.

 8.
I can see at least 4-5 wins in this schedule:     HARDIN-JEFFERSON HAWKS Aug. 30     Anahuac     7:00 p.m.        W Sept. 6     at Splendora     7:30 p.m.  W Sept. 13     Tarkington     7:30 p.m.      W Sept. 20     at East Chambers     7:30 p.m. Sept. 27     OPEN     Oct. 4     at West Orange-Stark*     7:00 p.m. Oct. 11     Orangefield*     7:00 p.m. Oct. 18     at Buna*     7:00 p.m.    W Oct. 25     Bridge City*     7:00 p.m. Nov. 1     at Silsbee*     7:00 p.m. Nov. 8     Hamshire-Fannett*     7:00 p.m.    W
I think HJ goes 7-3. They will beat Anahuac, Splendora, Tarkington, East Chambers, Buna, Bridge City, and HF. The only one of these 7 I think they might possibly lose is BC.

Just goes to show your only intention on this site is to ruffle feathers..... Like a child.....

Rizon was just popping off. You can bet the HJ coaching staff does not think that. bedelmon, herefortheparty, tiger tamer, got a knot in my panties or whatever he is calling himself this week constantly belittled the former HC and one of the former assistants called edelmon out on it, on this board.
Not popping off. I really don't believe every coach realistically believe they WILL beat Silsbee. Do they believe it can happen...I sure hope they do. If they realistically put a W or L next to each game like Aggie did...I don't think they would bank on a W on that one. I like HFTP's confidence in his team but getting on here and saying the things he says is the wrong way to go about it. I'm sure Silsbee has players that get on here and read this. HJ was already going to fired up for that game but now Silsbee will be too. Time will only tell. Maybe it can be the game of the week.
 10.
What????????????? Farmer Fran???????? Coaching staff dont think they can win????????????? This person just belittled the entire HJ Coaching staff and you or your Silsbee cronies dont say a word???????? HYPOCRITES!!!!!!! All of ya!!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable. You guys never cease to amaze me.... Children...... The way you guys talk, Silsbee could beat a D-1 college this year, and they are going to put anywhere from 50-100 on the "Birds" this season.... You put your money where your big mouth is Aggie..... Give me 21 points and I'll take the bet..... You should have nothing to worry about.... Unless your scared.... You want to come out here and throw a big number up for a bet, lets do it the right way, according to your logic, HJ is a round a 21 point underdog.... Lets vote on it, see what the average person thinks the score will be, then give me the difference in points..... I am confident in my Hawks, but I'm not stupid.... Key players get hurt and Im done... Oh, and I have spoken to several members of our coaching staff and they believe HJ can beat anyone...... Our kids believe they can beat anyone...... You see Rizon, if you knew anything about football, you would know that is a major aspect of coaching and motivating..... Believing you can do the unthinkable....... But you dont know anything about the sport, so I would expect a stupid, sensless, childish comment like that to come from someone like you...
You really take things too personal...I have picked HJ to finish 3rd or 4th in the district. I do not think they are bad and will but much better this year. Here is the problem...Silsbee will be much better as well. Anything can happen and I guess 1895 can happen again. I actually like the offense HJ is going to run this year and I think it is the best opportunity they have to beat teams like Silsbee and WOS with better athletes. Here is the problem though...their defensive line has the potential to win the line of scrimage and win the A and B gaps allowing the linebackers to roam around a little free and not have to worry about all the misdirection. Now...take it easy and relax. You are an adult...stop getting so offended. I'm not here to fight with anyone and you started eveything you are getting on this site by bashing the old coach. As I said before...I kind of hope HJ pulls it off but I don't think it will happen. You need to take things how hjhawks takes things...

 14.
yes he was a hard runner would have loved too see him featured more last year , but when you fall behind you gotta abandon the run .
And they graduated almost their entire defense.
 15. It will be interesting to see how the districts split up. I have seen one person predict: Coldspring Liberty Tarkington Orangefield Hardin-Jefferson Hamshire-Fannett No offense to anyone...but outside of Coldspring this is not a very good football district to be nice. And 4 of those teams make it? If this is what happens I wouldn't be throwing parades for any coaching staff but for the UIL. I have also seen a prediction of: WOS Coldspring Liberty Tarkington Orangefield Hardin-Jefferson Hamshire-Fannett Much more respectable here just by adding WOS. You can take some pride in making the playoffs out of this district. HF better hope their non-district schedule is weak because I do not see them winning a game in district. Much younger and less talented than they were last year at the moment.
 16.
Talking with some people I hear the HF has a good bit of young talent starting with K. King (QB). They will play in a district with 2 of the best teams in the state. They also have a big young TE who should be a good one. Could this be the year that HF turns the corner to becoming relevant again????? Thoughts?
No. They were a better team last year then they will be this year.
 17. I don't want Dwight. Asik is just fine and I think in the next 2-3 years will be much better than Dwight.
 18. Nothing wrong with basketball players running cross country.
Where's HJ? I dont even see em on that list
Maybe they will have improved enough to beat HF by more than 1 point this season  ;)
Im surprised HF is so low, i thought they had a young team last year. Oh well, i look for them to surprise some folks, i do believe i had them coming in 5th place.
HF Graduated a lot.
 20. I hope he does. He needs to play...too good of an athlete not to play. No one will completely fill Hunter's shoes. That kid was a great running back.
 21. Who do the Heat go with instead of Bosh? I love what Anderson does for them off the bench, but they need a starter.
 22. I thought Bosh did a great job guarding Duncan one-on-one. They don't win this series without him imo. He was huge in the 4th quarter and overtime last game. I think he is a very good player but not a $100,000 player. Tough decision this off-season. This was the first game of the series I felt like James was the best player on the planet. Great clutch game by him.
 23. Anyone else count Manu's steps? 3 loooooooong strides. I know travel isnt called very often anymore but I would have had a problem with calling a foul on that play when he initiated the contact with his third stride then started to go up. I thought the game was inconsistently called all night. Van Gundy last night: "The inconsistent officiating on foul calls effects the Spurs much less than the Heat." Besides Game 4...the Heat have played better when James and Wade are not on the floor together. Leave 3 jump shooters in with one of them (and bosh or anderson) and it opens up the lane.
 24.
Ray Allen saves the Heat Game-7 Thursday
Great clutch shot. Something I didn't hear anything after the game was Battier, Miller, and Chalmers keeping the Heat in the game with their 3-point shooting. Please no Crawford and company for Game 7. I don't understand the Splitter for Parker either except maybe the play was set up for the double pick...pass to the corner and shoot.
