  1. What about Memorial? Do they have room to grow, any returning studs?
  2. i doubt it.. I tell you what, unbiased once again, HJ has some serious defenders coming back. They lose a lot of scoring, but you can develop a shooter, you don't just develop defense heart and dominance. (Turner, Ricossa, & Gus)
  3. No, we got a lot more personal. Against our top rivals, we had a nickname for every player on the other team. We chanted that name every time those people touched the ball: "ug-ly ug-ly, bow-wow, bow-wow, mid-get, mid-get, daddy's boy, daddy's boy" Mainly St. Thomas and Westbury Christian where this rude chanting happened. We handed it to everyone though. When I was there, we were an independent... too big for TAPPS and UIL was in the process of allowing us into their league. My junior and senior years, the teams won at least 65 games, and I think they lost like 6 or 7(total), and we played anybody in the area. Our toughest competition back then was Westbury Christian and Dallas Jesuit. Now we are allowed to play with the best in Texas, and we have just as many guidelines as any other public school in the state. The watchdogs make sure we're not "cheating" and the bottom line is if you have lower than a C in a class (on our 7 point scale) than you don't play ball. School rule. So those who maintain lower than a 77 in a class are considered inelligible. Probably why our top three players are going to Notre Dame, Penn State, and Rice.
  4. I would've said Pitt even before their second win against UCONN... I think DeJuan Blair is a complete stud who has completely matured in his college career. I would love to see Oklahoma play Pitt for a trip to the final four.
  5. I guess I've just watched Big East basketball every Monday, Wednesday, Saturday morning, and Sunday morning since the first weekend in January, and unlike all of the east coast biased individuals, I don't see the "bling" that makes them deserve 8 or 9 teams. I will admit I overlooked Louisville's defensive toughness!!!
  6. Pitt UNC - hopefully they meet up with Mizzou and we kill Tyler's dream of winning a championship with Roy Williams Wake Forest Michigan St. Cinderella (given they don't bust tonight) - Virginia Commonwealth University
  7. after witnessing the game live, I agree they should be in. Mizzou may get revenge on Thursday however. I think A&M and Okie St could both get it with the downfall of Providence and Virginia Tech.
  8. PERFECT WEATHER.... for the Missouri-Texas baseball series in the ATX! Go Hawks, go Crusaders indoors!
  9. I don't think the internet was the problem. But ethernet would have made my life smoother instead of wireless. I was there until 9:45 last night after the final...ugh. I'm getting better FileZilla tomorrow!
  10. This is the Jesuit student section that will be on display in Austin this weekend! And yes, I didn't want to play Chavez after they lit us up last year. The game ended with a Lobo dribbling the ball off his foot on the last possession. Lucky break for the Jebbies.
  11. Our student section rocks... That's how we roll at S-J! I used to lead those goofy punks back in 2003!
  12. Since I'm in charge of the video, I'll confirm that it's working. The only service I've experienced the videos not working this year are AT&T Air Cards.... Every other way has worked fine, including dial up modems.
  13. I completely forgot about that dunk right before the half! I didn't put it in the channel 6 highlights!
  14. Click on the link to find out more: [Hidden Content] I'll be shooting the game and "Tweet"ing the score and the action as frequently as possible. I'll try to run through some statistics at halftime. I hope ya'll enjoy following.
  15. I say the ACC is the best conference in the nation. I'm also going out on a limb and saying the playing field is even between Pitt, Connecticut, Kansas, and Oklahoma, and I really don't think the Big East is all that. I really think the Big 12 is a stronger conference than the Big East 1 through 8. Big East underachievers have really struggled all season. If Georgetown, Notre Dame, and Villinova played Missouri, Texas, and Oklahoma State, I think the Big 12 squads would all go 2-1, and perhaps Missouri and Texas would go 3-0 against those teams. I also agree that there are different styles of basketball in both conferences, with the Big 12 being up tempo and the Big East being half court oriented. Watch when the jitters and nerves are going crazy in the tournament this year when the fast breaking Big 12 teams dominate the Big East teams left and right. Final 4 - - UNC, Oklahoma, Pitt, unexpected team...
  16. As a Mizzou grad, and somebody who hates kansas (never capitalize the k because the state is not worthy of being a proper noun) I honestly think that in good taste, and in honor recognizing team awards, that Sherron Collins should be the POTY in the Big 12. Blake Griffin is awesome. They best player in the nation. He's going to rack up All-American spots, probably the National Players of year, and he should sweep. But I have two reasons for rewarding Collins. 1) In the Big 12 conference and heads up against OU, Collins was the most outstanding player. Knocking down HUGE 3's in Norman, driving Mizzou and K-State nuts, and taking full leadership of the young kU team and making them the Big 12 regular season champs. 2) Griffin just needs to be 1st team all conference. Maybe you can split the award between the two. Blake is the best big man in the conference bar none. Collins is the best point guard in the conference bar none. Both of their teams would not own a dominating aspect of the game against the leagues better squads without the two players. I'm sure others will argue with me on this.
  17. It happens. Being a Missouri grad (2007) who witnessed a Sherron Collins dominating performance against Mizzou courtside in 2007 at the Phog to pull out a close victory against my Tigers... I have to argue that Collins should be the Big 12 Player of the Year.... because we all know Griffin is going to be the national POTY. Missouri will get a chance for revenge in OKC for the big 12 Tournament, maybe. The Tigers just don't have any superstars...they're just a good TEAM.
  18. Oklahoma state just made a huge push to get into the Big Dance. I think Texas should be in because they at least play a tough non conference schedule. I just hope Mizzou doesn't blow it to OU and A&M.... this is going to be a rough week if we go 0-3....
  19. Channel 6 gave the Pirates some love today. I hope we are following several teams to state next weekend! [Hidden Content]
  20. As someone who really just wanted to see a good basketball game and was unbiased... Last night in the first half, Pheal Hill and Trey Burrell got into a little jawing-off session after each one drove the other to the bucket and scored. Immediately, one of the officials confronted them and said stop it. Pheal had a few things to say the rest of the game just from pure emotion that I could tell, and Trey expressed himself (both anger and excitement) by just clapping his hands and not saying a word to anybody. That's my first round of applause, for stopping that business. The second thing is both coach's (Todd in the first half and Travis in the second half) had shouting matches with the refs where both were questionable calls that led to huge momentum swings. The coaches kept it very clean and to the point; they managed the arguing (especially coach Sutherland's burning a full time-out) to make their point then dropped it. Yes because the officials did not yell back nor did they even put to use the "MAKEUP CALL". I felt like the game was called and managed well. In fact, HJ's gameplan was very obvious.... dribble drive penetration and gradually draw fouls... when we clear the middle, we'll beat Silsbee with our 3 and 4 guys off the dribble and to the bucket. (after two crucial foul outs) I don't know if I was completely caught up in the hype, or if I really was experiencing two great high school coaches let their master plan roll out. I haven't enjoyed a complete effort LIVE like that in a long time, and it all ended with the players shaking hands and patting backs and appreciating each other's game, skill, and competition; because in the end, they know they'll see each other perhaps at a regional final, and that winner could have a huge advantage over anyone else in the state of Texas in class 3A. Feel free to agree or disagree... remember I am completely unbiased...
  21. i was watching that video though, and at least two of those threes came on horrible defense by HJ... it was like "who's going to guard him... i guess I'll go.... oh dang another 30 footer!...
  22. I finally gave some love to the play-by-play! Does anyone know how many blocks Turner had last night? He was sick.
  23. The game was so good that KFDM.com had to cut two videos instead of just one! [Hidden Content] If you click on this link it should automatically roll into the second half video as well. Another regional final would be sweet! - Quick analysis, awesome game from both Robinson of Silsbee and Turner from HJ.... Turners defense was spectacular.
  24. Yeah, But the area is constantly REZONING... and new schools are being built each year. Katy ISD has so many schools, and Cinco Ranch has quickly caught up to Katy's standard. They just need to start winning deep into the playoffs. But when it's all said and done, the kids zoned to go to Katy high school run the exact same plays and schemes on defense for 9 straight years from pop warner through high school. Then Katy just rolls up on a school like Seven Lakes because their kids have only lived in the neighborhood for two months and it's hit or miss whether or not the kids on the team have ever played football before high school. I will admit I'm very biased toward that community. I find it hard to believe that a school district can't find a coach to mold a school like Mayde Creek into champions but can allow one school like Katy to keep their district on the map.
  25. He's going to play for the football and baseball programs! Impressive! [Hidden Content]
