  1. from Lamer7913: "And it’s my opinion, if all else is equal, a hometown guy will be the better choice, especially if he’s one that can introduce “drastic change†and a “good disciplined foundationâ€, while at the same time having established relationships within the community and relating well to the kids." Once again, Lamar and I are in 100% agreement. Excellent point.
  2. From 7mary3: "Most ignorant statement i've seen in a long time. The Minority is the Majority in Liberty and i'm pretty POSITIVE that had no effect on the decision making. Thats always been the norm in Liberty and the surrounding areas to hire a hometown boy. IMO, thats exactly what Liberty doesn't need is another hometown boy, black, brown, yellow or white. What Liberty needs is a drastic change starting from the young kids up. Liberty's got a good crop coming up and they need a good disciplined foundation. What they don't want is HOMETOWN boy getting the athletes that are in trouble all the time out of jail and not doing anything to them. JMO" I would like to know just exactly what 7mary3 is implying with this post. I would sincerely hope that he is not implying that a hometown boy, DD or any other, would give all athletes a free pass if their behavior is less than the law allows. 7mary3, I think that was the most ignorant statement anybody has ever seen and you are a moron. If everybody on this board only knew the buzz that was created in the halls among the athletes that DD was up for this job, then he would have been hired in an instant. That is why I called the board chicken poop. (I got in trouble for saying the real thing earlier. My apologizes).
  3. Lamar and I are 100% in agreement. Lamar might not want to name names, but I will. Donald Douglas should have got this job hands down, no questions asked, case closed. The perfect hire fell right into their laps and the school board was to chicken to pull the trigger. On top of that, they got a second chance to get it right after the first guy turned it down and they still it up. Absolutely unbelievable.
  4. Don't know names, just numbers. I think it is a little cavalier to throw names into these discussions anyway, since most of this stuff is speculation.
  5. PLAYA is right. We need to focus on the "school" part. If PLAYA is a product of the LHS system, they obviously don't emphasize spelling. "...desprite need of some finacial asistance." BTW, I heard there were four, but one withdrew and now there are three.
  6. football, Based on that, I would say that they are definitely not hiring from within the district or they would not have posted it and they are clearly interviewing more than one person. So I would still say they are following procedure.
  7. No, I am not a board member. And I agree with Diamond-J, it is on the board. If they screw this up, I would think that it will be reflected in future elections. Papasmurf, I understand your frustration, but everybody knows that there are certain rules and procedures and State laws that the school board must abide by when hiring for these kinds of positions. I would think that they are simply following the correct protocol for this kind of thing.
  8. I can't speak to the Super's record since I know nothing of her past, but I can for certain say that a strong athletic program, both girls and boys, is very important to several of the board members since I know several of them. As for an applicant turning down the job, I know there are reasons absolutely unrelated to current administration for why it was turned down. I know it is hard, but we all need to be patient and let this thing run its course.
  9. Hey midline, Read the post. I didn't say Stewart was a bad football coach, I said he was a bad AD. And I didn't play for Stewart, I played for Hacker. And Wrong again smurfette.
  10. As a Liberty grad and supporter, I also want to see them hire the best person. Stewart's contract wasn't renewed because he was a bad football coach. It wasn't renewed because he was a horrible AD and because he wasn't taking orders from his superiors. I know both Chad Taylor and Donald Douglas personally. I don't know much at all about Chad's coaching career/background, but I can tell you than DD is more than qualified for this job and is certified. Thanks to the poster above for pointing out that that info is available online. Having spent some time around college football, I can say that a quarterback coach/passing coordinator is essentially the same as OC. They know just as much about the offense. The fact that DD doesn't have "coordinator experience" seems a little irrelevant to me. He also has sent at least 5 high school QBs on to play D1 college football.
