Silsbee hires Cypress Ranch OC Randy Smith
ST413 replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Football
Have no problem accepting it....was very pleased this year,. Maybe not in the outcome but both football and basketball seemed to be very clean games amongst the players. That has been my concern with past history. You can have your one really meaningless win in football since we aren't in the same division. We will take our two decisive wins on the court in district, where it counts. -
Doesn't matter if WOS has their whole team back,. Still going to take that beating by my Tigers!

Just like it never fails that you will bring up WOS on a Silsbee thread.... -
As far as soph. and jrs. To watch for the Tigers its those 3 starters. Not knocking any of those seniors to be. All 3 of those had impressive years this year.
-
They will always be capable of a playoff run,. That easy district championship next year gives them a number 4 seed in the first round. Then it's just how deep can you go. I am going to miss those 2 district games.

Someone corrected me earlier but without Parquet as far as varsity returners there are only 2, that's why some are not so optimistic.

I am not wishful of anything all I said originally is to say is it would be spewing at the mouth to say WE WOULD beat WOS at this point. As far as the what ifs, it's all guess work,. But you are talking about high school kids, and you know as well as I do anything can happen between now and then. Heck I would have bet money, and I never do that, that Lincoln would not have got a 17 pt lead on us but they did. -

There is always a chance but to say we would is spewing! Never know what could happen could be raining and WOS fumble 10 times, they could have everyone fail just before the game and I don't want to mention any other possibilities. Besides if we had the same team as this year, I think we proved we had a chance. -

Like I said it would just be spewing from he mouth to say we would right now. Even if coaches stayed the same we are losing our line and qb... -

It would just be spewing at the mouth to state this. We have too many variables to overcome to know yet if we will beat anyone. -
From sitting in the stands and listening, and no I know nothing and am not even referencing this particular situation, it may not be from the kid but from his parents and their circle of friends.

Definately a natural reaction and not the first time this particular player has made such statements and later recanted. -

Although I think both teams were starting to be able to move the ball with the running game at about the same time. We just didn't have enough time left to catch up running the ball. -

I think it may have been some of both..... -

you are right only question I have is how many of those runs were actually scrambles.....i think we have the athletes in the skill positions for either offense to be successful. -

I don't think a "disciplined" coach has to be run heavy. I think disciplined refers to how your team handles itself not how it plays. And of course you can win games without establishing the run but it makes it sure makes it better and more consistent to have both. Now as far as being a players coach and being undisciplined, it may not always be the case but they generally run together. Generally if a coach is laying down the law more players are upset with him so he isn't considered a players coach. Now some coaches garner enough respect to have well disciplined teams without having to lay down the law. -

I understand the kids feelings. Especially those that have played with Kolten both on the field and the court. Totally understandable. They have had a comfort zone with these coaches and of course Kolten is a brother to them. I hate to see him leave for his senior season. I have seen comments from them and others about it negating our receiving Corp though, and although the numbers may not be quite as big I think it may help them in some ways. I think this new offense has the chance to be just as effective without the yardage numbers. And it could make a big impact on the defense as well. My point was more towards that perception than towards the kids being upset. I have had that experience myself a coaching change before my junior and senior year was the main reason I didn't play those years. -

I know that system will change the big passing numbers. But I think it has its advantages in that respect as well. We have Adonis coming back after a good year running the ball he has speed and is tough to bring down. Real good at attacking the middle of a defense. Add a speed back who gets to the edge easily and things can Definately open up for the passing game. Sure we won't have all 4 receivers on the field at once, at least most of the time, unless one ends up in the backfield but you could end up with 2 as wideouts and say Barnes at tight end. Sounds like it could be pretty potent to me. -
So in other words it would be cheaper for them to just move to Silsbee!!

Sedrick Spearman went to Central this year, and is going to Blinn for football. I was told he had a few catches as a receiver but didn't play basketball. The big guy you are talking about is Ahmad Jones, he is coaching in Oklahoma. -

I don't know if we will be deeper next year. We lose three in that top 10 man rotation and have a few coming in. It's also hard to say we will be better. Once again all these kids will have to buy into their rolls and gell together. I sure hope they do it was fun to watch them this year and looking forward to next year. -

We also lose a hard working Luke Tanton this year. -

No he was one of th last ones off the bench,. That's what was so promising coming into this season, he was the only senior but we also had Secrick Spearman leave as well. -

Uh Elam was gone before last year. We only lost Mike from last year can't remember his last name. -
I believe it's not just talk where the Legacy players are concerned. Don't know about the HJ ones though.
