  1. Hopefully the Rebels come in playing the way they have been with several people scoring. Have heard Hull is going to be playing a Box1 tonight (Insider Information).... LOL Hope they don't but if they do we know what to do to break it; easiest way is a couple of people to step up on the scoring.
  2. Was just told Evadale and Hull will play at 6pm in West Hardin on Friday. @NetCat
  3. Heard Evadale game will be in Kountze Friday, not sure on time yet.
  4. I didn't either.... Was shocked when I heard about it...
  5. Good game Rebels!! Sad to see our #2 play his last game on the Rebel Court.. Super proud of what you have done this year and for your career on the Rebel court. Great game tonight. May have been last on Rebel Court but will still watch you play the next 4 years at a higher level. Now let’s keep the momentum going this next week.
  6. Just curious to which one is most accurate each year????
  7. But then you look at the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Associations Polls; they released and some of them are different. Not sure which one is most accurate but I will say it is going to be an exciting season... TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION 2020 PRE- SEASON POLLS January 5, 2020 6A: Southlake Carroll Kingwood SA Reagan Woodlands Laredo Alexander Ridge Point Flower Mound McKinney Boyd Lake Travis SB Memorial OTHERS RECEIVING VOTES: McAllen, Rockwall Heath, FM Marcus, and Round Rock 5A: Colleyville Heritage CC Veterans Tomball Corsicana Georgetown Sharyland Pioneer Boerne Champion Highland Park Cleburne Aledo 4A: Argyle Kilgore Carthage Sinton Benbrook Iowa Park Robinson Liberty Hill Decatur Rusk Others receiving votes: Sunnyvale, Fulshear, LaVernia, Melissa, and Spring Hill 3A: Wall Bishop Gunter Kirbyville Brock Bushland Troy Pottsboro Hallettsville Malakoff Others receiving votes: Breckenridge, Grandview, Clifton, Van Alstyne, and Atlanta 2A: Refugio Linden Kildare Windthorst Albany Woden Bosqueville New Deal Evadale Muenster Douglass Others receiving votes: Archer City, Thorndale, Dallardsville Big Sandy 1A D’Hanis Wells New Home Dodd City Round Top Carmine Borden County Abbott LaPoynor Avalon Santo
  8. Well then, I suppose several teams in the class jumped up 1..... The UIL archive doesn't reflect any of that it just showed them 1A that year and then 2A the next.
  9. Used the word controversial loosely because this public site. However, I have other choice words for what it was. Evadale got screwed is more of the direction I could have went... LOL
  10. Evadale Rebel Boys 2011 Evadale lost to Eula in controversial state semi final game; 2012 made playoffs; 2013 didn't make playoffs 2014 made playoffs for last year in 1A then for 2015 jumped to 2A and have made playoffs each year since. scratching for 2020 Evadale 6 year run started 2014 season.
  11. Good Luck Rebels!!!! Should start close but figure Evadale should pull away second half....
  12. No disrespect to him but it is VERY easy to run up to 700 wins when you are playing a very week pre-district schedule every year. WH record is a very soft schedule this year, the one solid team with a winning record this year they played come from 1A Leggett and they lost to them.. Tekoa Academy - played twice & beat twice Bob Hope - played 3 times and beat 3 times O'Connell - played once and won Harmony Science Academy - played 3 times and beat 3 times High Island - played 3 times and beat 3 times SW Louisiana Homeschool - played twice and split Hardin - played once and won WEST HARDIN OILERS (26-7, 5-0) Go to complete schedule in topics to see complete schedule and results. But my point is 14 of those 26 games in the beginning were against schools with no winning record. This pads coaches win records and can run them up real quick. If WH had been playing teams like some of the other 2A schools were Kelly (twice), East Chambers, Hampshire Fannet, Buna, Kirbyville (twice), Jasper, Huntington, Lufkin Pineywood, Alto, Onalaska, Big Sandy, Cushing and a couple of others not real strong the record would be much different and the 700 wins wouldn't have come as quick. When you play soft pre-district schedule each year it don't take long, I'm just saying. He is a good coach but not one of the best in area. There are several coaches in the area hands down are the areas best but may not be at 700 because of the tough pre-district and district games they have scheduled. Hands down 22-2A is the toughest 2A district and I just don't see anyone from WH district getting past that district, their #3 or possibly #4 could have swept WH district.
  13. I have a lot of respect for the coach and agree he is a good one, I'm just saying have seen this group play together for a while and they deserve a lot of the respect. They play very well together and when one is down they another will step up and complement the team. I do agree that that team probably want make it past the 3rd round because they are no where near at the level of play the top 4 teams are in Shelbyvilles district. You are also correct a bad coach can make a great team bad. I was more pointing out that a good team with experienced teams can make a good coach much better because if he is a good coach he designs the play around what will pull out the best in the kids he has.
  14. Yea after a night like that one we got home and started talking baseball and had to glue hand back up. Got to get it cleared up before baseball. Of course there is no way he will stay out of a game no matter how the season is going to rest hand. Just hate how his senior year is finishing out on the court. He continues to play hard and will do so until the end but did say last night it hurts to say that he is ready for baseball but will finish every game on the court like it is his last in high school. LOL Baseball should be a very good season. Have to fill a couple of pitching slots from last years seniors. So I'm sure several of them are going to get put on the mound during our weak district schedule. LOL
  15. You cant stop the bleeding from that with a bandage, staples or stitches...…….. LOL
  16. Well stated. Mosley is a talented player and when you allow shots to be taken that far out, you will die by the 3 in most cases, (unless you are Jasper and them boys have unbelievable range), I believe Evadale went like 2 of 19 from the 3.
  17. In small school basketball you have inexperienced seniors, these are the seniors that decided to play basketball their senior year but haven't played in a couple of years; this isn't saying they are not athletes, it is simply saying they aren't at the skill level on the court that some of the seniors are that have been playing since junior high. Then you add a couple of freshmen and sophomores to the mix that haven't played at the varsity level of play; you have a very inexperienced team. Of course next year they will be a lot stronger and be playing at a different level. Bottom line when you have a team that lacks the court time together over a couple of years then you are going to struggle. No different then where WH will be next year when they lose their 7 seniors. The players that will have to step in and fill those positions will not where they need to be, you could see that during the JV game, which will be they players filling those slots. Evadale lost 7 seniors the year before last but were able to fill those slots last year with the 5 juniors. This year Evadale had 2 senior returners and only 1 has started all 4 years, the other returning seniors first year to play basketball was last year. The other seniors on the team didn't even play basketball last year and one quit. So there are ups and downs BUT I am very proud of how the Rebels have hung with every team they have played this year. The hung with every none district team they played, (HF, East Chambers, Jasper, Kirbyville, Huntington, etc...), just had no depth to finish the games. Oilers have a great team this year and I hope they take it deep into playoffs and yes I agree they have a good coach. Have a lot of respect for him. But he will be rebuilding next year.
  18. Evadale Rebels have 7 starting returners to the field this year and a couple from the bench that will be a big part of the rotation. Should be a good year for the Rebels. Pitching is going to be the key to the success, this year; have to fill the loss from last year 2 seniors. They should be strong at batting, fielding and have a lot of speed this year on the bases and in the field. Returning Starters Klay Slyvester, Sr, SS/P (1st Team All District) Bryce Tousha, Sr, OF/INF (1st Team All District) Tyler Montlvo, Sr, P/INF Kip Nolan, Jr, 2B (1st Team All District) Tyler Ferguson, Jr, C/P (1st Team All District) T.J. Boles, Jr, P/OF (1st Team All District) Chase Smith, So, OF/INF/P (District Newcomer of the Year) Excited to see what this year has I don't see anyone in the district keeping it close this year. So glad we have some strength games scheduled outside of district.
  19. I think it is a combination of coach and players. Don't get me wrong he is a good coach but when you have 7 of your 9 players being seniors and have played together for so long they develop a combination of play between themselves that cant be taught by a coach. At that point the coach just shows them plays to run and then the players and the comfort level they have developed between one another and the talent and experience they bring executes what the coach has showed them. I have seen some bad coaches take some very good players/teams deep into the playoffs. As for as Evadale starters they did have their starters on the court, what kills them is the lack of experience this year. No excuses for their losses, they haven't been able to finish games and West Hardin is a much more talented team, this year. Only one starting player returns from the past 4 years for Evadale and we knew after last year this was going to be a rough season. Perfect example of lack of experience is going to kill you every time. They can hang with every team but don't have any depth to make the run at the end of the game, nor the experience with most of the players. The only true experienced starter started district with 6 stitches in his hand (when he ripped it open in that crappy gym in Liberty) and for the most part never comes off the court. Cant win games when your point guard is leading in rebounds, scoring, assists and steals and 2nd on team with blocks. Team sports cant be one by 1 player no matter how good they are. Perfect example last nights game Evadale box 1 on Mosley and WH run double team on Tousha second half of game. When you take each of the teams best players out of the game someone else has to step up. WH #2 did that and finished tied with Mosley for 18 points while on the other side Tousha finished with 17 and didn't have anyone else fill the gap. Good coaching but again it took a good player to step up and take slack, that is something coaches cant teach. West Hardin is good team and will represent the district well. lots of respect for the coach BUT a whole lot more respect for the talent of those 7 seniors on the team.
  20. You are 100% correct and I total agree with that..... LOL It better be the A-team showing up for the next 4 games..... A couple of the seniors have really been trying to get the wagons circled around the others and trying to get them to let it go when on the court. I was told this morning before I left the house he is trying to get them motivated to play like it is their last game every time they step on the court. Like I told him all he can do is keep motivating and make sure when he walks off the court he knows he has left everything on it.
  21. BUT it don't start today.... LOL I know for certain there are a couple of them ready, to them it will be like the only game that counts.... I feel #10 will be on from long range and #2 will be driving and kicking out with #3 pulling the boards down. Absolutely, no way they can beat us in the underneath game if both Rebs posts are playing smart. Ought to be a good game and I do expect it to be very loud in the gym tonight...…
  22. It will be a close game but it want be a blow out.... Both sides will be ready to play.... no matter how healthy or what the records are this is always a good and tough matchup.
