My motive was a discussion of how we felt about the rankings. Just because you sit in the front row at all the games does not make you an expert, just means you have good seats. Plyed on a state champion myself no greater feeling in the world. Played on greatest program in college ball as well. I can have an opinion even if it is different from yours. My problem is that you feel like if we don't agree with you then we must be a hater or moron. I always want someone from our district to be there but just as you accuse DV of putting down all the teams here so do you. I always root for OF but I also am a realist. You just make it very easy to get under your skin and you are never going to listen to another opinion. I go back to original question then Why do you think HJ should be ranked that high and it can't be about what they accomplished last year because the nucleus of that team is gone. Not negative just not convinced, my opinion only matters as much as yours no more, no less. BTW I have had positives to say about HJ.

no spite at all, repect what they have accomplished just does not mean that I drank the Kool-aid. Sorry about the wrong name for the school guess it was not as obvious as I thought it would be. Also, not trying to turn it in to OF?HJ thread, the topic was what we thought about the rankings, not , how dare you disagree with rankings becasue we went further last year even though wildcatter said we would not.

No he made the comment that he would be giving his insight and yet all I have heard is about HJ and how crazy everyone else is if they disagree with state rankings.

I agree on the intellect, fundamentals are the key to any good team. I don't quite agree at the point on the others based on what I have seen so far, but it is the preseason. IMO you let Turner get his points but someone else will have to step up and beat a good team. HJ does have good players who understand the game and gets them far. It is like the press, alot of unfored errors because they put you in bad position becasue they have worked same system since JH.

Actually coach just the opposite, have tried all day to get his opinion why, so far it is because they are HJ and that is it. Nothing like, well we have a team that is hard to match up with or that we have 6 starters coming back. How about we worked hard this offseason on blank in order to make up up for the 30 pts per game that we lost from last season. Just a logical talk about basketball. I realize that HJ has good program never said different but every program can have down year, look at WOS. Just saying that if you look at this on paper I don't see it.

We have actually met several times, and I agree that Hayes is good player, others will have to step up this year such as Granger, Evans, Smith, Moss, Gustream. Since Coach is on with us now go back through my posts on this and let me know where I have said we would win district or that you would not. I realize that is has hurt your feelings greatly that I don't agree with the state rankings but I am sure that when you win state this year you will show me. Guess I am going to have to start a thread for basketball discussion for those other than HJ coaches or family to get that discussion as it is getting nowhere here. It is fun to get you guys stirred up though. This was better than golfing today.

Jealousy over what? The fact that HJ made a run last year, why would that be? I have just tried to have basketball discusson about THIS year not how many times you have won this or that. I merely asked you to convince us why you thought you should be ranked and the only basketball answer that I got was a roster update. BTW I think we beat you both JV games last year not just one. My point is that all you have been able to say is look at last year or the year before that and most of the guys are gone now. This is opinion for this year and you have done or said nothing to justify other than remind all of us 10 times about last year. Since you are the all knowing then tell me the scoring from those because I actually think you lost 2/3 of scoring not just half. So if you ae starting with a good defensive player like Turner unles you are going to win 2 to nothing you are going to need to score. When I have seen Turner playe for the last 2 years plus the summer he has not exactly been know for his outside shot, it has been slashing to the basket. That leaves some small guys outside that can shoot if they are left open, not creators. So my point is that if Turner is stopped they do not have weapons like they did in the PAST which you still will not agree with I am sure. If they were that great I am sure that they would have goten significant minutes last year.

But they had the tools to get there last year. 5 of those 7 you mentioned played varsity and this summer. That is the point, not a lot of scoring there and no impact players, maybe solid team. Just because I disagree does not make a hater just means that no matter what is said you call us that, not really a discussion. If that were the case then I would just call you a discussion hater which sounds pretty ridiculous. You go on and on about DV bragging but you do the same if anyone talks about the hawks. My point in the beginning of all of this was that the ranking was based upon past not the present which is what you have now said.

But as I said it is based on before not a real picture of what is there. I also said that they would have a good season. I also said that your predictions had to include more than just your team and it has to be more than well we are HJ. That is my entire point. The differnce is I watch basketball you just watch the hawks and there is nothing wrong with that, just don't get pissed if people ask you to defend your thoughts with something other than well HJ has a better coaching staff. I agree that Sutherland is good coach and will have them ready to play ut you also have to look at the talent and this is one of the leaner years that HJ has had in the past 3 or 4 years. Does not make them bad team but this year they have weaknesses unlike other years. I watched turner this summer and in my opinion he can't take over a game like others have because people will be able to key on him. He will get his points but you can't tell me that you are the same team that you have been with 2 or 3 guys that could score at will.

Now see, that is funny. The reason for sarcasm is that you have yet to give me a reson to believe that HJ should have the rank. That is why it is a discussion. It has to consist of more than Uh UH in order for it to work. Thus far that is the extent of your reason for the ranking. I can see Silsbee they are returning several starters and a matchup problem. I say anything about HJ whome I have seen play at least 15 times over the summer and I am not representing the school. It is a basketball discussion not who has the best school.

What about the great predictions and analysis that I have been on the edge of my seat waiting for all day.

I have seen the error of my ways and thanks to Lazeeke I am now 100% convinced that HJ should have the ranking. As a matter of fact, I can't believe that they are not ranked first. I just made my reservation in Austin so that I can see them win it all.

That's the difference in our posts, I don't just come on and say how great my team is. I actually like all basketball not just 21 3a. I do appreciate the deletion of the new topic as well, nice touch.

I would like to see your picks for the district as you promised. Remember, you can't just talk about HJ.

No, not a coach, why would coaches come on hear and post outrageous comments and always talk about other teams, get really defensive if your opinion differs form their team. Wait that does happen. I just have the opinion that if I lost over half of my scoring and it was being replaced with kids that have not really been tested and 1 true threat coming back I don't know I would be crying if people did not believe I should be ranked in state. As I said before, not saying not a good team just don't agree with the ranking. I watched you play in summer league, Silsbee tourney, your game this week and I just don't think it is a state caliber team now. I think that unless you live in Sour Lake and have seen you all play since last season most normal people would agree. It does not mean you can't win as the season goes on but just not a preseason pick that I would make. Sorry if you take that personal but I was under the impresion that it was discussion board not a I believe the Hawks are the greatest team of all time. I will start that thread now.

Don't be so sensitive, I'll retract everything then, HJ will win the state tourney, all the kids will sign to play div 1 and wind up playing for the dream team which is coached by the HJ staff. Since it is impossible to say anything other than that without you guys feeling offended I will leave it at that. I forgot that unless you are prasing the Hawks you must be an idiot. Did not mean that they were not a good team but not a state ranked team. Every team in the district will have their own set of challenges this year. Silsbee is big but lose there great shooters, still athletic and will be a huge match up problem. HJ as I said has Turner but from what I watched this summer struggled with the outside shots as they have difficulty creating their own shots. I even remember a game wher they did not score double figures in the half. They will always be good due to the how well they can create points off of the press and how well they run it but don't have the luxury as in past years of the big scorer having an off night. I think as Turner goes so goes the Hawks. As far as the jv guys we did split with them last year and if they would have been that great we wuld have seen them up there last year. OF will have to learn to work better as a team and lack the size to match up with teams with a big post. They also have to learn to me more patient on offense. Shooting can be an issue sometimes if they are not on as they rely on the 3 to score. See I can actually talk about improvements needed for the Bobcats. WOS is the biggest wildcard because in the past they could beat you with the athletes, now they have improved their shooting which makes it more difficult to pack it in against them. I think that the top four are correct just not so sure of that order. I think it will come down to who can protect at home and steal a couple on the road. I also believe that with the top four it could be the most competitive that it has been in the last few years. Bottom line lazeek and nos you have a good team will just have to wait and see if it is truly a state caliber team.

Guess they just look at 21-3a and keep it the same every year. No way that HJ shuld be ranked in state, believe they will have hard time scoring points this season if the summer was any indication. I realize that it was just summer but if you look at them they just don't have near the talent that they have had in the past. The lack of outside shooting will also hurt them as teams will be able to pack it in on them making it very difficult for Turner to drive the ball. WOS has looked better everytime that I see them play and they could be tough. I guess that is why we play the games so we will see who lives up to the hype and who does not.

Maybe they are just not that good. They are great track athletes just not great football players. It does not make them bad people.
