2.
could be a rematch in this game due to an issue with the score cap at 30 that isnt supposed to be enforced in district play.
When will "they" decide? I was at the game......It seemed like both sides were surprised that the game ended.  This was a great match: OF takes game 1, Game 2 goes to 29-30 (with goofy surprise ending)OF wins, Game 3, OF gets up 20 - 12, HJ comes back and wins, Game 4 HJ wins, Game 5....literally each point traded back and forth and OF wins 16- 14 (I think).  I think it should be replayed.  PLEASE don't give me "We're gonna see if it affects the final standings, then decide".  That would be dumb.
 3.
whew..no run or pass defense! when/how did garret get hurt?  can we recruit that lil rb from ICW? our best player tonight was their punter.  he gave us good field position with those 8 yarders.
Our regular punter is also starting safety....tweaked HString last week.  Coach left him home to heal for conference game next week. I would have gone for it on fourth down..... My son #57 UIW right tackle..I'm proud dad this. AM.  Mike Roby
 4. My son is #57 for UIW right o tackle. I've been looking forward to this game since it was announced. I knew the UIW Cards would come in and stand toe to toe and slug it out.  We had no answer for Hayes.  Fantastic tailgate by LU fans. Great game day experience.  If only our regular punter was not injured.............or maybe go for it on 4th down. Mike Roby
 5. THE WORST refs in the Golden Triangle on Friday night where at WOS.  I feel sorry for the girls on both teams that had to endure long delays and missed calls by a ref that quite frankly had NO business being out there.
 6. HJ vs Kountze HJ wins first 2 Kountze wins next 2 HJ wins game 5: 17 - 15 Both teams were scrappy.
 7. Hardin Jefferson 3 Vidor                0 8)
 8. I wish it was being played at College Park.  I think the Rattlers are snake bit everytime they face HJ there!
 9. I know you can't project sub-varsity wins into future varisity wins, but.........HJ J.V. certainly left some teams wondering "where the heck did those girls come from?"  I'll hold off from bold predictions for now, but the future is looking brighter for HJ teams. I just wish they had more girls come out.....baby steps.
 10.
I listened to the Coach Wise interview on Sportstalk 610, he said himself that they pressed the entire game. He said they know no other way to play. I find that to be bull crap!! Chad, when is enough, enough? I do not know what the circumstances were in the HJ game, but if they did what Yates did, then they are a bunch of sleezeballs too.
I wouldn't start alot of name calling... 87-28, 125-54?!?!  You tell us when is enough enough? Roll Tide!
Glad I was able to break it to you first!!!! BEAUMONT - Beaumont Independent School District Athletic Director Rodney Saveat has appointed Robert Lee to coach  the Central Medical Magnet High School Jaguars Basketball Team for the remainder of the season.  Lee  is handling  the coaching of the team after the veteran boys head basketball coach Calvin Rice was relieved of his duties earlier today. According to Saveat, Rice has been placed on indefinite suspension with pay from employment at BISD.  Saveat declined any further comment about why Rice was suspended, explaining that 'it is a personnel matter not for public discussion.' Rice has been head coach at Central since 2000.  He started work at BISD in 1994 as a teacher at Fehl Elementary and also worked several seasons as a baseball and basketball coach at West Brook High School.  The former Lamar University basketball standout has led the team to the playoffs several seasons.  There are 12 more District games left in the current season. Lee joined BISD in 1977.  The Southwestern University graduate started out as a Vincent Middle School basketball coach and later worked at French as an assistant coach.  He joined the Central Jaguars as an assistant boys basketball coach in 1986.  The Beaumont native is a 1970 graduate of Charlton Pollard High School. "Coach Lee knows the team well and will be able capitalize on their strengths and help them to improve in areas needing attention.  I am confident that he will help the team gain a competitive edge," Saveat said.
Actually, I believe  swag broke this first yesterday on the "ask swag" topic.  I tried to verify, but dog gone it, I can't seem to find that post?!?  I got to give props where they're due...almighty  mods please don't ban me.
 12. swag, you should leave the library and go back to class.....quick before it's too late.
 13. Nederland 61, Orangefield 28 - WOW 96'  which was it on Mon night: Coaching or Refs?
 14.
How many times do we have to sit through this? Orangefield fell to Kountze tonight in the championship game at Evadale tonight by 26 despite being in the game for the better part of 3 quarters. With a mixture of questionable calls and questionable decisions it was over not long into the 4th. You can't get on refs because good or bad more times than not its equal for both teams. There may be one school in the area that actually gets preferential treatment from the stripes but I think we all know which red and blue team that is. Wink wink. What the problem at Orangefield seems to be is that the game management isn't usually equal on both sides.     I've noticed that the teams they play tend to play their best players the majority of the game. That seems to be a formula that works pretty well. I've also picked up on the fact that when someone has the hot hand you try to get them the ball. That, crazy as it sounds, seems to be beneficial too. If Orangefield picks up on this new trend in time they could really make some noise this year. As of now they seem to be drawing names out of a hat and letting a blind monkey make the substitutions.  A newcomer of the year on the bench in a game they lost to a team that couldn't stay on the floor with em a week earlier. Our 2nd team all district player hasn't cracked the starting lineup yet. Guys that can't handle the pressure of a Kountze team getting quality minutes against them and let them run a layup/dunk drill. And one of the best players in the area that doesn't get near enough chances to make plays. They gave up a lot of points tonight but much of it was due to their inability to handle the pressure and giving up easy baskets.      The bottom line is you have to play the people that give you the best chance to win. Sometimes the situation dictates who that should be but you have to play the people that can put the ball in the basket. Even though the kids seem to be well coached and seem to come in w/a good game plan, if our game management doesn't improve soon it could be a long final year for a group of kids that have spent their whole life playing basketball together and that would be a real shame.
You've hit a lot of hot buttons on your FIRST post ever! I hope the coach doesn't figure out who your son is!  "Blind Monkey" is not very flattering About HJ coaches...they know how to manage a game and refs, just like you said! Two questions for you 96: Have you ever been paid to Coach or ref?
 15.

you people need to climb out of your ivory tower and get over yourselves.......these two made an error in judgement, but we should not judge them until they are found guilty of something. I am not from cleveland, and don't know the situation except what was on the news, . again they should not have put themselves in that situation, but let it go, and celebrate your teams and coaches who are getting ready for the playoffs
wow johnny cochran, could you understate the fact that they destroyed evidence of a kid being stabbed a bit more? and i don't live in an ivory tower, i live in a brick house :-)
Did anyone else notice it was being investigated by the "Cleveland ISD Police dept"?  I'm sure the in house PD will get to the bottom of this....wink, wink.  :o If you know anything about Cleveland, this story probably doesn't surprise you. Sad but true.
 16.
Caldwell is unique in that EVERY really good athlete in the school that is female is on their team.... (and all the younger tall ones in the Jr Hi & up in the HS are being groomed for VB). A leap of logic is not needed as to why they are such a strong productive building program. Hey...This is something we ought to try at HJ!?!?!? And before you bash, I'm not blaming our coach.
