1. There is obviously a flaw in the system. You beat the 2nd best team in district for the 2nd time, haven't lost in 18 straight games, yet U drop a spot, hmmmmm??
 2.
His wife is a science teacher in the district and his oldest son is currently a sophomore starter for this years team. He also has 2 younger kids in middle school.
His youngest boy is on the 7th grade squad at C.O. middle school. They went undefeated this season, winning every game by 25 points or more. The team scored over 80 pts in two games (remind U they play 6 min Qs vs. 8 min Qs). I doubt he's going anywhere anytime soon.
 3. I'm not convinced it's all coaching. Nederland lost to WB earlier this yr b/c they missed a lot of FTs in the end of the game. Friday against Ozen, however,  they made 15-16 from the charity stripe. I don't know if it's coaching, but Nederland has been shooting much btr at the FT line as the season has progressed. Maybe just another great accomplishment of coach English??

But im gunna say it anyways, from hearing all this great stuff about Nederland. How they are one of the best teams in the area, and only a handful of teams can beat them...etc etc....Also for the gym being packed almost wall to wall with people. They didnt impress me all that much, dont get me wrong Ozen played awesome game on the defensive side of the ball and think that was why Nederland couldnt run the O game very well. With all that being said CONGRATS to Nederland to winning the district title, and also winning it two years running. Good luck in the playoffs to both teams. Last nights game was a little clip of what playoff basketball is like .The next few weeks should be very exciting.
I can understand why you say that since that was your only game to see them play all year. Nederland did NOT shoot the ball well compared to the last time these two teams played (and for MOST of the season). Where they surprised MOST critics is in the TO department. ONLY 4 TOs vs an aggressive defense...not too shabby!! Where the Dawgs did excel last night was at the FT line where they won the game. They made 15 of 16 FTs as a team. Don't know if I've ever seen a HS team shoot over 90% in such a BIG game-IMPRESSIVE. Also, what you don't know about this team is that regardless of how it's done, they find a different way to win in every big game. THAT is the sign of a special team!!
That's good coachig... the Coach plays the situation and the strategy from the opposition at hand and puts the athletes in a position to win the game!
The coach is a part of the team, right? I was referring to him as part of my 'special team' comment. Without him as the leader, Nederlcoachould have lost more games this yr, no doubt. My point was that they won the game at the FT line, that's something that is out of the control of a coach, and teams normally do not make 15-16 FTs in a game.

 6. Geaux Tigers! Congrats on running the table. Hopefully y'all and Nederland will bring home some hardware in Austin!!
 7. Weisbrod made another statement last night vs. Ozen. Playing against a senior who is 6'7" and 'long', he showed why he is at the top of this list. He's stronger than any kid i've ever seen at this age, and he's agile and smart. He made two shots when he was either being held or pushed by Ozen playerS. Although no foul was called, he maintained balance and finished STRONG!!
 8.
Meant to mention that freshman for nederland. Had an outstanding game on D. he is something else. Great game dogs
The 6'4" Weisbrod was more than Ozen's 6'7" Post could handle. His strength (remember, he's only a Fish) is like none I've ever seen at that age. He's poised, and plays like a Senior. It's been fun watching him grow this season.
 9.
has this ever happened at NED? back to back titles?  :D
Not in the 'modern day era'. It's been more than 55yrs since they won a district title(until last year). Not sure if they ever won back-to-back.
 10.
Let's not kid ourselves guys. Ozen is a good team and it was a great win for Nederland, but that press is nothing to a team like Yates. We still need to improve on press breaks though.
Ozen played dirty all night: turning hips, holding jerseys, pushing players down, and arm/face slapping. All that said and most of those calls not made, Nederland only committed 4 turnovers on the game. They handled the pressure and abuse very well.
 11. Best regular season EVER!! Now it's time to turn it up and make it to state! The kids should have all recovered by then from having the flu all this week
 12.
But look at the bright side. Vidor can look at all those trophys they won :o from all those 1a tournaments ;D ;D
Come on now-don't be rubbin salt in the wound so quickly!!
 13. Oze came out hungry tonight. They played a great game. They wanted it, but the Dawgs were not gonna lose their last home game of the season. Great game Dawgs!!! 2011 District Champs!!!!
 14.

English on freethrows. Dogs hold on d rebound and get called for double dribble??? Was not double dribble and the whole stadium is letting them know. Real nailbiter. 22 seconds left ozen ball
double dribble at home?
One of MANY bad calls on the night.
