It's good that y'all are so high on Nederland, and your should.  But playoffs is a different. animal.  These teams will be ready to roll.  These are not your PN-G's, Livingstons, and Lumbertons.  They have shooters, size, and coaching as well and it won't be a breeze.  These teams will scrap tooth and nail.  So to shoe Nederland in as a regional finalist is someone outlandish.  I'm rooting for them from this point, no doubt, but lets not get ahead of ourselves.  Nederland won district last year and made the playoffs, but what round did they lose in?  Battle hard to make sure that don't happen again...
Soulja-Nederland made it to the 3rd round last year, and most of these kids were on that team. They lost to Brenham by 7. Brenham made 4-3s in the 1st Q, and Nederland cut the lead to 2 late in the game. So these kids KNOW what it is going to take to 'get there'
 2.
Nederland and Ozen have a good shot at making the region final, Ozen would face Yates and Ned would get Ball. Nederland's biggest challenge appears to be the Humble vs Central winner.
I watched Humble play last night. They played a new HS, and won by 50 or so. Although difficult to evaluate, they played good team ball. They are quick, they can shoot from the perimeter,  and they have an inside threat. Nothing flashy, but solid at every position. Central should match up well against them.
 3. Forget a Nederland/Silsbee matchup. Nederland is NOT playing a warm up game.
 4.
no way PNG beats HJ
It COULD happen. Remember, PN-G played Nederland AND Central to 2pt games.
 5.
I'm hoping we bring a crowd to lcm...any one going?
Of course! We've had big crowds all season. Everyone likes a winner.
 6. Where U gonna be? You'll be at the playoff game next week, right??
 7. It's nice to have both mid-county teams representing the district for (probably) the 1st time ever! I'm black and gold through and through, but I've always cheered for PN-G during playoff time (usually in football or baseball of course).

I know these kids well, and I've seen them play lots of 'big' games since they were in 7th grade. I KNOW they r going to be special. However, Nederland WILL be rebuilding next year. There is NO way around it. When U lose your starting five, U have to replace them w/a new starting 5. That is called rebuilding.
At HJ, we prefer to call it "Reloading"!!!!  ;)
We've never had that luxury at Nederland (until now). We will be 'reloading' for years to come thanks to a lot of dedication from parents and coaches. [/quote Thats what I was trying to get at HonestAbe! ;D Reloading! We WILL go through growing pains to start, but thats what summers are for, AAU tourneys and individual practice to get better. This group coming up has great work ethic. Want to be in the gym working on something that needs fixing. But this is all next year talk!We need to give credit to this team and their accomplishment! Now lets make a name for ourselves in Basketball and make a trip to Austin!
Well, you never said anything about reloading, but I'll talk to coach English about that as a motto after they make their trip to Austin. Let's finish this debate in mid-March after they do some damage in the playoffs. We can talk about each player if you want to. Like you, I know all of them.
Sounds like a plan ;) Hopefully we wont talk until after they come back from Austin
I'll probably talk to U tonight at the game when I see U. U just won't know it's me ;)

They will young and competing to win district again
Anytime you lose 5 starters (two MVPs) plus 4 more who contribute; the following year will be a rebuilding year. I know, I know, their JV is stacked- I agree, but they'll probably have only one Senior starting next year. They'll be good, but it will be a rebuilding year b\c of their losses.
The Sophs that played JV competed in Varsity Tournaments all summer and know what its like to go up against some talent ;) Not to mention they push the varsity in practice and make them compete hard.. I dont doubt that losing the big 3, along with the senior leadership will be hard to deal with at first, but the group in waiting has excellent chemistry which helps them win alot of games
If you read my comments from earlier, you'd see that I agree that they are a talented club, and I agree with you that they play w/great chemistry.
How can they be 'more successful' than this year's team?  Thus far, they have...  1. remained state ranked the ENTIRE year 2. won 1 or 2 of their tourneys they entered (I think) 3. Currently on a great winning streak, currently through district and... 4. About to be undefeated in district 5. District Champions This is all you ask for in a team up untill this point.  I guess the next long term goal for this team is to win State.  Well next year's Bulldog team be good?  Yes they will be.  Will they surpass this year's team?  I think that a foolish thing to say at this point.  That's just my opinion...
No worries.  We all have our opinions.  To your point, they can't be better than the current team with the exception of their record.  I have just heard from the folks drinking the Nederland Kool Aid that the Soph more class will be the class. Like the Dove class in HF.
They have too beat Ozen's great sophmore class 1st .
Ummm, let's review. Nederland's Varsity AND JV teams swept Ozen this year. What's so special about Ozen's Sophomore class?
 14. Next year will be a rebuilding year, but I predict they still finish 2nd or 3rd in district at worse. The following year, they will be better, but better than this team? I'm not convinced of that just yet.
 15. Doubt it. The same thing happened a few weeks ago. Nederland was ranked #19, then for no reason they dropped to #20. The next week, they were back at #19.
