1.
Yes sir or ma'am, Stricly for the high school student moving towards graduation. This league was developed 3 years ago after I moved here from Louisiana for I felt it was a need for "seniors-to-be" to aid in the recruiting process to supply exposure. With our regions(SETx-SwLa) population and the amount of quality high school coaches, players, and fan support, it was a priority of mine to bring recruiters in as well as bring "over-looked" kids into Lamar's backyard to evaluate. So far, so good, done on minimal funding, either out of my own pocket or fees paid for by the Prospect's Family. I have recently been getting numerous emails and calls from players as far out as Lufkin, Wharton, Baton Rouge, and Shreveport to come down to participate, but I am SETx-SWLa first and foremost. I do want to address, I do invite some underclassman but on a selection-process only, through recommendations from scouts, high school coaches, or kids I have seen myself and project very well as a junior-senior. Hope this gives a little more insight and once again, this cant be done without the continued support of high school coaches and the entire Lamar University Baseball Staff. Chris Fackler
Thanks, guess we just missed the boat then!
 2. Is this just for high school students .......................... was wondering about 2010 grads

Hallmark is a very good player who needs to get signed quickly. It infuriates me that nobody has signed him yet. I guess scouts think that just because you are from a 2A in the boondocks, you can't play. They would rather sign some rich kid from Brenham than a true ball player like hallmark.
This is one of the most rediculous baseball statements I have heard!  Why in the world would a scout (like myself) rather sign a "rich kid" instead of a "boondocks" kid that can actually play.  Rich kids are harder to sign!  It is our job to find talent, no matter where it comes from, and an unknown kid that can play would only solidify my ability at finding talent.  Please have a clue what you are talking about before you make statements like this.
Where does Hallmark play in the Summer? That's where and when a 2A kid with talent will get noticed. Most of the scouts I know want to see as many prospects at one time as they possibly can. THAT is where these Summer tournaments play a huge part of the recruiting process.
That does seem to be the case but not all kids are fortunate enough to play on teams like the Sundevils or other teams like that.  There are alot of very talented kids in this area and they seem to be getting the short end of the stick when it comes to getting to play at the next level.  It's sad to say that money is the driving force becuase most of these teams require alot of money and lots of people aren't that fortunate.  My son won't play at the next level, he has tried out several times to no avail so come august he will hang the glove up and go to school and he is talented enough, he has been mentioned on here several times but isn't on a team that gets the exposure some do so his dream of playing in college are very very remote and I can relate to alot of parents that are in the same situation.
If the UIL or Texas high school coaches (whoever is responsible for scheduling) would change the standard high school game schedule from Tuesday/Friday, it would could help kids like yours.  Most college teams have games on Tuesday and Friday nights making it nearly impossible for college coaches to see Texas kids playing high school ball.  It's really a bad system.
I totally agree with you, the system is bad and alot of good talent gets overlooked.

 5. So who all plays on the 18u Gladiators?  My son was headed there but due to unforeseen circumstances couldn't ...............are there two teams?
 6. I find it in very poor taste that this thread even exists..............both kids (and some seem to miss the whole point that these two are just high school kids and ballplayers) are to be commended on an outstanding high school career.  Both players have always shown outstanding sportsmanship, athleticism, and represented each of their high schools well.  As for me, I have enjoyed the years of being a parent and spectator and getting the opportunity to see both boys play, it has been great.  I wish both would have gotten the honor to play in the all star game, but each now can show what great athletes they are in Austin.  Please give these guys their dues.......................they have certainly earned it in my opinion and I wish each of them the very best as they both continue to play in college.
 7. Prayers from this BC family.  Hoping for a speedy recovery and good news from the tests in the weeks to come!  God Bless!
 8. This should be a great series between these two teams, so picking a winner I can't.  BUT from experience, if OF commits errors, Jasper will take advantage of that and beat them...................and they are certainly no slouches when making great catches and fielding the ball.  I think it will come down to whomever has the least errors and think it  will be close scoring throughout the series.  Good luck to both teams!
 9.
If Ty Parker was NOT an invite, High School coaches may need to look into this with some persistent motivation to get him on board. This kid represents our area as solid and sound as any player does in SE-Tx. His numbers show he has been the most consistent catcher in this region and not to downsize any other catcher, but his leadership has been the key to a State Ranked team all season. Their pitching is solid this season because Jasper has a warrior behind the plate blocking balls giving their arms confidence and shutting down oppnents run game forcing opponents to go base to base baseball allowing pitchers the freedom to give up a hit or a walk and still get out of innings with no damage. I would hope Im not personally jumping the gun here and hope this young man HAS made the All-Star game in 2010. I could not agree with you more!  We have known Ty from 12 year old Gladiators and Indians and this kid is the complete package!  He is a wall behind the plate and always seems to get on base.  If he was not chosen, then there is something seriously wrong with the system!  Chris Fackler
10. Does anyone know of any websites that have powerlifting pictures of Bridge City lifters on it... Or does anyone have any pictures of the Bridge City powerlifters?
 11.
Rhodes starting to come around, he was in a slump but got moved down in the order. He was 3-3 last week so he's starting to hit to his potential.
Rhodes had a pulled muscle in his back but continued playing through the past 4 or 5 weeks and was in quite a bit of pain in trying to swing the bat!  He's finally recovered and been through quite a bit of treatment (Thanks to Dr. Ballard) and should be close to 100 percent again and back on track with the bat!
 12.

I agree with the coaches strategy comment. They will change thier minds numerous times between now and tomorrow night on rotation. Hope its a great series. BC fans.... What time you going to have the burgers/dogs and drinks ready???? We'll return the hospitality on Saturday...
Nederland has the best hamburgers that you'll find at a high school ball game....ummm I can taste them now. come on tomorrow....
I'll second that, from the burgers, fries, links to the ice they use in the drinks, it's the best concession I have ever been to by far!
 13. Congrats OF on the rear-kicking you gave the Cards!  I was very impressed with the team and coach.....................he never downed or belittled the players for outs they made, never heard him raise his voice to any player, just kept encouraging each and everyone of them, kept them very upbeat and focused and made them believe in themselves and what they could do.................and did they do it!  Seems the Bobcats have their stuff together from the team to the coach and it is paying off.  Hopefully the Cardinals will get their act together and be the team they are capable of being and make a strong statement from here on out.....................I personally think this loss will fuel the fire in them ( I hope!).

 15.

Believe me, if this is a district game and the same scenario presents itself, this would not be the decision...this is a preseason, non-district game that means nothing other than preparing the team for the rest of the season...Nederland has, in fact, thrown several pitchers and tried several lineup variations, as I believe they should, at this time of the season...it will serve the team well in the long run, which is what this is ultimately about...don't worry, the Dogs will be just fine
As with BC Landry has also thrown several pitchers with different line-ups, I'm sure he likes to win even in those situations but understands before hand losing is a good possibility but the benefits out weigh the possible outcome. We sometimes get too wrapped up in win/loss stats in preseason. Ned. as well a BC will be fine come district play.
I think these are very accurate assessments of both Ned and BC.............and while the win/loss record looks good if a team is undefeated, it don't mean a thing if teams play a soft schedule to get that record and I don't believe either of these coaches care much about the record until the district games begin.  I believe both do an excellent job in preparing their teams for the districts they are in by the schedule they play beforehand.  Both teams will be ready when the time comes when records do matter  I also think the early rankings don't mean much either and don't put a lot of stock in them at this point.
 16. ???f Well, good luck to the Rebels and Coach Williams then!
