  1. We did have a couple of turnovers but this was just a case of being overconfident and thinking we were just going to show up and KP was goin to lay down for us. We finally woke up to find ourselves in a football game. Hats off to KP. They kicked our behinds all over Turner Field. The good news is that we found a way to win. Hopefully this is our lull for the season.
  2. Barbers Hill went 10-0 in their first year in 4A in 06-07. Then lost to a good Central team 1st playoff game.

  4. I don't know what happened to get your hackles all up but I hope you get your chance to back up this talk come the playoffs. I don't think you will considering the size difference in the schools but I can promise you it wouldn't be near as EASY as you would like to believe. We at the HILL ain't as bad as everyone thought we would be. PNG played it's tail off to beat us and deservedly so. I think that's a pretty good team you are messin with so good luck.
  5. I'm with you. I was kinda shocked to see those guys on the field that late in the game myself. Not sure what the thinking on that one was other than to make sure we took care of the football and did not give them a cheap turnover. That being said. The offense is getting a lot of the press for the victories lately and deservedly so, but let's not forget there are 11 guys on the other side of the ball that are still playing very well. Moving #40, ( not to mention names) to offense left a hole in our secondary that was filled very nicely by #14 and the rest of the guys. Looked like we had a couple of blown coverages but luckily they did not take advantage of them. They have another of game to work together and get better before GCM & Dayton. Way to go Eagles!!!

  8. Solid group of Srs., Jrs., and Sophs. with a goal. I wouldn't look for an "easy" win against Galena Park. for some reason records and standings always seem to go out the window when we get together. Last 3 years have been hard fought and contested to the end by both teams. I'm with you in hoping we get a handle on protecting the ball.
  9. The biggest issue we have on offense is taking care of the football. The O line is doing a pretty good job most of the time protecting the QB but we don't seem to have the push we need off of the ball to run effectively. The QB is a very good athlete but needs to understand that you can't always make plays when there is nothing there. He can't be afraid to turn it over to the defense to hold the other team at times. They are doing a pretty good job even when the offense puts their back against the wall. They do even better when they have the other teams back against the wall.
  10. your quote comes from Coach Tomlin of the Pittsburg Steelers I believe.
  11. BH34 is right on in his assessment. Defense stayed focused and played a good game. backups got in about every other series so that was good for them to get playing time. Offense still shooting themselves in the foot with turnovers and mistakes. I would have liked to see the backup QB get some reps to but he was starting at receiver all night in place of one of our starters. I saw we had a few starters on the sidelines in street clothes. Hope they make it back by next week.

  13. Looking at the schedule, the have a JV, Soph. and 2 freshman teams. Must have some talent to choose from. I hope the team doesn't take them lightly. We need to start playin mistake free football or it will be a season that coulda been for us. We just need to handle "OUR" business and let every one else worry about theirs.
  14. Thats correct. Cypress Ranch, the newest school in the Cy-Fair ISD just northwest of Houston, will not be playing a varsity schedule for another year. But rest assured that because this is a junior varisty squad, that they are pushovers! I hope you meant that they are not pushovers. The boys say that from watching film on them that they have some good athletes and a lot of team speed. Looks like they have a pretty good running back that is fast and hard to bring down. Our tackling will definitely have to improve this week.

  16. You gotta be kidding me!! You make your very first post on this site and it is something like this!! Believe me, these coaches could care less what momma and daddy think. Sometimes I think they should but they really don't. As for the game. I believe it will be a lot closer than the Raider faithful would like to think. I know it sounds like a cliche, but if we do away with the turnovers we will move the ball and score. The Defense will have their work cut out for them again. Our secondary will find out how good they are, 1 way or another.
  17. I think you guys at PNG will be all right this year. I know you all were focusing on the guys in purple & white but before you jump on the new offense, realise that you were playing a pretty good defensive team. Granted I was a little surprised my self at how we played. Just understand that you have to give credit for some of your offensive woes to the BH "D".
  18. I heard last night at the game that it was going to be on streaming internet today also. does any one know where? I need to tell my son who is in the service and wants to see the game. Help if you can.

  20. Are you a Coach or do you have a chip on your shoulder? Are you asking me or Ball Coach who's quote I was referring to? If you are asking me, no I am not a coach and I do not have a chip on my shoulder. I just believe people are getting way to worked up over a scrimmage game. This team has worked hard all summer and they will be fine after they get the kinks worked out.
  21. Back in the "DAY" the West Orange Chiefs and the Orange Stark Tigers was a pretty heated rivalry. The West Orange Chiefs and the Bridge City Cardinals wasn't bad either.
  22. Love this post. You hit the bullseye with this one. No one was complaining about the system or the coaching in 06 when we moved up to 4A and went "10-0", or at least until we lost to a good Beaumont Central team in the playoffs. Eagle Eyes you been waiting a long time to get that out of your system haven't you. Good Post. I understand your frustration. You think anyone in Newton is complaining about what Coach Barbay is doing? The game of football has evolved since the wishbone and the wing "T". It still boils down to "EXECUTION". What you run is not quite as important as how you run it. "BLOCKING, TACKLING and RUNNING". It's amazing how those 3 things have not changed in the order of importance to good football. Out of curiosity, I would like for one of you three or four offensive geniuses to please tell me what "same" run plays Barbers Hill has been running for years. As you are obviously experts on the subject, please be specific and don't just refer to the plays as run up the middle or outside. Also, since you are so in-tune with offensive football, can any of you tell me what defense Cleveland was playing. Just trying to get a handle on your vast knowledge of football before getting more specific. tnt mom, feel free to comment. Don't be concerned about your lack of knowledge, no one else seems to be bothered by it.
