1. A bit of a shocker by LM with Coogs opting not to play all-state LB'er #30 Ken Butler or starting running back #2 Tim Wright the entire game. Dawson came screaming back from a 21-6 half-time deficit after LM fumbled the ball 3 times in the 2nd half to knot it up 28 all. LM converts a 4th and goal to take the lead with a bit over 2 minutes left then forces the 2nd of 2 interceptions by Dawson in the 4th to seal the deal. A school with an enrollment of barely 750 if that takes down a school with over 2000 students. Them Coogs played a good ball game considering the circumstances. Bye week off to heal the walking wounded for the playoffs and boy do we need it! If Dawson beats Manvel (highly unlikely) next week then it will force a 3 way tie for the district crown although that's not our primary goal. Texas City hammered Santa Fe to keep their hopes of a showdown for the last playoff spot next week with Friendswood alive.

    LM clinch already?

Yes, LM, Manvel and Dawson have already clinched. The 4th playoff spot is a tug of war between FW & TC. Next game is meaningless vs Dawson so even though Tim very well may be available, he may not play at all? We could really care less about beating Dawson and hoping Dawson beats Manvel the following week in order to force a 3 way tie for the District crown. I'm also told All-State LB'er #30 Ken Butler will most likely be able to play again as well come playoff time. If FW grabs the 4th spot then they go Division I and Manvel goes to Division II. If not I'm pretty sure Dawson and Manvel go Division I while LM and TC go Division II. We also have a bye the week of Nov. 4th so that will only help our battered and bruised players to heal even more heading into the playoffs.
