  1. Crosby runs a traditional spread. Watch for the TE seam. They will sneak him out there a few times. They have some athletes, but not enough of them. Lots of zone reads and they will try to use their speed to beat you outside. I don't think they are overrated by any means. But, they are prone to turnovers as a previous poster stated. They have one receiver that has some jets. Safeties need to keep him in front. The underlying story to this game is the fact the Crosby's coach is one of Lumberton's all-time greatest athletes. Kevin Flanigan was one heck of an athlete when he went to Lumberton. It will be interesting to see how this game unfolds.
  2. One of your best and brightest coaches in recent years was not run off. He took a better job as the AD/HFC in Commerce. It was time for him to get out from underneath "Uncle Don". The JH coaches in BH are nothing short of a bunch of arrogant jerks. Coach Baird is the exception. Also, there are some newer coaches (maybe second year in BH) that are class acts. The rest are hated and looked down upon by other coaches in the district. My experience coaching against BH is that their players are well coached, disciplined in their system, blue-collar ball players and motivated. My experience with their coaching staff has not been as pleasant. There is a reason why other coaches in the district encourage each other to "Kill the Hill".
  3. A&M-22 cougar high-4 U-G-L-Y This was a butt-whippin'. Coogs just imploded in the 6th, I believe. Ags scored 12 in that frame, but they were helped by some bonehead plays...especially the horrible throw by UH's pitcher to home. Ags are now set for a championship game against either UIC or UH. Looking more and more like a repeat of the A&M-Rice Super from last year. Hopefully, there will be a different result this time.
  4. Outright champs. Okie St lost yesterday to OU. Unbelievable how A&M won the conference.
  5. No way New Caney stays 4A. They turned in 2130. THey are 5A for sure. But, maybe not for long. They are building an additional high school. Word is that the new high school will be 4A and the old high school will go 3A when the split is made.
  6. We'll see..........I was dead on in my Lumberton-Smiley and Lumberton-LaMarque prediction: I said Lumberton would win 35-10 over Smiley and I nailed the next game 24-21. I think Dayton wins against Livingston, but not by as much as their previous games.
  7. Woops! That's what happens when you completely leave out a word. It should have said they "don't" run a very mixed balance....they are definitely a running team. They put their slot in motion over the top and will sometimes use him as the pitch man in the option. They run a lot of zone reads and will try and beat you to the edges. Dayton's speed will nutralize this. Still, I think this will be a closer game than most expect.
  8. STD4LIFE: Good Lord! Let it go. You're like that little kid that just won't shut up....the one that always replies to everything with "I know you are, but what am I?" Quit living in the past, man. Someone might mistake you for a Texas Longhorn.
  9. Have only seen film of Dayton-Lumberton and Dayton-Crosby. I realize that Dayton is a different team than that first time they played Lumberton. Livingston would have put up similar numbers against Crosby. They run a very balanced mix of running and passing. Their defense is solid and isn't afraid to put a helmet on anybody. I think this game will be closer than most think.
  10. I have seen Livingston play 4 times this year....and yes, they can hang that many on Dayton. They can strike quick and have the players to beat Dayton...but, after seeing both teams play, Dayton is obviously the better team. I think Dayton struggles with them for a bit, then starts pulling away from them in the 3rd.
  11. Dayton 45 Livingston 34 Lumberton 35 Waller 20
  12. It wouldnt' be so funny if it weren't so true. I figured they would come on here and defend themselves, but there has been no sign of either one.
  13. No, that is his little brother TJ....Terrible Jack. That's what his dad called him, anyway.
  14. Baldwin88 has to be that little short fartknocker of a receiver that couldn't hit a curveball to save his life. Head13 has to be the fatback for Lumberton in 1990....he looks like Javorskie Lane now. Whatever happened to Tal Light?
  15. Although I think Alvin Credeur is doing an excellent job in Lumberton, I think you have to go back a little bit and remember a guy that was coaching in Lumberton way before Credeur....Larry Haynes. I think he is the best coach out there. You will not find a better offensive mind or motivator than Haynes. He has won everywhere he has been...not just at one school for the past 25-30 years. If Haynes could work his magic in Lumberton, Crosby and now Hardin....his resume speaks for itself.
  16. Go back to the Lumberton-LaMarque predictions thread and look on page 3. I do believe I nailed this one....all the way down to the score. Looks like the L-Train is for real!
  17. I don't think it will be an upset is LM wins, I just think Lumberton is the better team. After watching both teams and seeing many hours of film on both teams, Lumberton is more disciplined and executes their game plan better. LM can cover up for their mistakes with their athleticism, but when you reach this round of the playoffs, execution is what wins.
  18. I have seen both teams play several times and I think these are two very evenly matched teams. Lamarque runs the Franklin system on offense. It is the current version of the spread that a lot of Texas HS football teams are running....think Southlake Carroll. Lots of zone reads (2 King or 3 Queen) mixed with an option attack (6/7 Zorro) and a passing game consisting of a lot of mesh routes and crossing patterns. The passing game basically consists of using the inside receiver to draw the attention of the safety and then having the QB read that to make a decision on who his primary target will be. LM's QB, Kerligan, has a good arm to throw to some very athletic receivers. Their front 7 on defense is solid and their DB's can be somewhat undisciplined. Even though LM won the state championship last year, they are NOWHERE near the powerhouse they used to be. They are absolutely beatable and lost two district games this year for the first time in forever. Lumberton is as solid a football team as you will find in SE Texas. They are very physical on both sides of the ball. Their defense is very impressive, but they will need to move their safeties up in order to stop the medium routes that LM will throw to in their system. You cannot give LM a cushion or they will nickel and dime you to death. If Lumberton's RB can break through the first wave of defenders, he could have another big day like he did against Smiley. El Campo's RB had well over 150 yards against LM today. He is not as good as Lumberton's RB. Lumberton's offense revolves around this kid. Lumberton will need to call some screens and maybe een a little trickery to keep LM off balance. Having said all of that....I honestly think Lumberton could pull this off and it won't be because LM will be overlooking them or taking them lightly. You don't win multiple state championships by overlooking your opponents. Lumberton is a more disciplined team and that is what carries teams deep into the playoffs. Lumberton 24 Lamarque 21
