I stood on the track at Pflugerville High School and watched a little bit of the filming one night. The "home" team wears Pflugerville's uniforms. They were playing against a team suited up in Westlake's uniforms the night I was there. Seems like it was in February that I saw those scenes being filmed.

ETBU, brotha man, thanks for drafting me. You just "platoon us" and we will ride your playbook to the Title. We are interchangeable. Just for "kicks", Gostangs can be the Team Captain.....
Griff mentions Wallace. When I went home for my niece's graduation from Bridge City, I drove by Wallace and stopped right in front of it. Brought back some memories. I went to 3rd and 4th grade there. I looked up to one of the 2cnd story windows where my 4th grade teacher was. I remember the first time I ever walked into the gym - they still had some championship trophies and pictures in cases. It was a "memorial" sort-of. No doubt, I would have loved to have seen them play. Mr Johnny Riggs (Turk's grandpa) used to tell me all about it when I was his MLB on the Anderson Fighting Irish. He is still one of my favorite childhood role models.......
Like Gostangs, Brian Cleveland will quickly come to my mind when choosing someone I loved to watch. What a motor 'ole #35 had.......

When Worster was a senior for BC, he was the MOST HIGHLY RECRUITED player coming out of high school that year. Over 80 colleges were seeking his signature. Imagine that today with all the media. It would be mind boggling to watch play out in the media on a local level. I was 6 yrs old and living right behind the visitor side in Bridge City. I have very faint memories, but some. Every little kid there loved the number 30. When you compare running backs from different eras, you have to keep it in perspective because talent is getting better. Within that perspective, I would say Worster is still the best ever from our area. I have vivid memories of watching Little Joe play his senior year. He was just incredible in open field. For those of you who got the opportunity to watch Beasley play, you all know how incredible Deon is in open field. Magnify that a TON, and you can then imagine watching Li'l Joe. I remember when Bo Schembechler came to Austin to inquire about Coach Royal's offense, Coach Royal told Bo that what he really wanted to see was "my fullback and he's spoken for for 3 more years". When the 1970 Texas Football Magazine came out, and when I saw Worster on the cover, I was about to turn 10 and I was in awe of our hometown hero. Yea, Worster was the most decorated back ever from our area - as a high schooler.

I've got '63 thru 2005.

I saw Deon walk on friday night. He called me this morning from his dorm room on the 40 acres. He has checked into the dorms. He starts classes on Thursday for Summer Session I. Ramoce Taylor just may have "un-red-shirted" Deon a couple of weeks ago. Iron Works awaits Deon and me later this week. Okay, I can't lie; I ate there for lunch today already.

After the "banquet" at Mustang Stadium, the sons will know how their Daddy is. Sorry, couldn't resist.... I guess when the sons merge with the Daddys in a few years, we can have a food fight at a board meeting with our honor students who didn't pass the TAKS test. I guess we can just keep it all in the family then. Ha.

I guess the HONOR students at mlc couldn't pass the 'Stang-Taks test. Sorry, I couldn't resist. I think the Father - Son Banquet at Mustang Stadium, the first week of the season, will be, well, FUN.

Best I've seen in person, bar-none: Young Mr. Vincent. Noone else is in that league, IMO. Someone was asking the question about who Vincent was playing against right before a Mustang game in the 'Dome - 2000 against Worthing right before our Bay City 10-7 win. I saw Vince play his Senior year against Westlake. Just simply on another planet.

Who knows. Maybe the 'Stangs get to Austin after all this year - Basketball style; girls or boys or BOTH.

Coming to see Beasley. Nice to have the National Championship coach at the corral!!!!

I guess I'll just have to frequent this one, too.......

I didn't really like the movie, either. It seemed superficial to me. It didn't really bother me that they changed the semifinals to being a "final championship game". That's the way movies seem to be. It was not anywhere near as good as Remember The Titans. Although they jacked around with some of the facts in that one as well, it was very well acted and "pulled me into the show". Hey, that's what makes the world go 'round - different tastes. One of these days, someone might just make a little 'ole movie about this little area in Southeast Texas - the REAL "hot-bed" for high school football!!!!
