  4. It's about team not individuals, just look at the teams that are successful. There is a blue print for success.
  5. BG like the article said it is all sports. It has been slowly coming to this point over the last 5-7 years. Jobs are not as lenient as they once were and folks work more hours also. In the past you always had a pool of guys that were retired and could travel and go to games that start early. People don't retire as young as they once did. I also think that many young officials think that in just a couple of years they are going to be officiating the top games and when they find out how much time and work is required they lose interest. For Football I think that with the exception of sub varsity games, it is limited how many Varsity games you get especially when coaches pick which I am all in favor of. In Houston you could have a top notch crew that calls Thursday, Friday and Saturday while others may call once or even none for a week. Not for sure if this will ever turn around. More money is nice but that will only bring out the folks who only want to do it for money and not the game. Respect has also been lost for all parties.Coaches, Fans, Players and even Officials. Something has to change.
  6. Will just have to remind you of where you parked your vehicle so you can leave early!!!!
  7. Wonder whose job it will be to count pitches?? I know who isn't going to count pitches.
  8. Yes please more games, that's more games to umpire and umpires can then spend more back into the economy. It's a win win.
  9. Ejection only if malicious contact, only out if he hurdles or dives over player. There was some kind of exception when a fielder was lying flat on the ground that a runner could jump over him. Not sure where that is in book.
  10. 1. PNG / Nederland 2. PNG / TJ 3. Central / West Brook ( before Ozen) 4. East Chambers / HF (played in this one twice) 5. West Orange - Stark / Jasper 6. Silsbee / Jasper 7. TJ / Lincoln 8. Hardin / Hull Daisetta
  11. Maybe the crowd can yell Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiip!!!!!!!
  12. This medicine the Dr has me on really does work, this hasn't upset me at all. Thanks for the backing guys. Many "high school" umps have and many still do call at levels higher that HS. None of us are perfect and we learn things every year. Next year is number 24 of HS baseball for me.
  13. And you probably believe that the hands are part of the bat!!! Go find your fight somewhere else Malakoff. Never say this is how it has been since the beginning of time because that is how the myths get started and everyone that sits in the stands or the dugout is a rules guru. Good Day
  14. “ART. 2 . . . When a runner is obstructed while advancing or returning to a base, the umpire shall award the obstructed runner a minimum of one base beyond his position on base when the obstruction occurred. The umpire shall award the obstructed runner and each other runner(s) any additional bases that would nullify the obstruction.” A runner diving back into first has already acquired that bag that is why he is awarded 2nd. Rule is fairly clear.
  15. That guy would be on my scratch list.
  16. Saw this the other day, only thing I can think of was maybe that was his way of making sure he touched home plate. Bizarre in any case.
  17. A wise man once told me, "if your always looking for Friday, you're wishing your life away."
