  1. That no talented team has more state championships, district championships, etc than all four of the others put together. Not to mention, a state championship appearance within the last decade.....again, unlike the others.
  2. Because he is a 3rd year returning starter. I say it will be a new starter at the varsity level that takes over the reigns as best qb in the area. If it is Bellows it will be due to a lot of thin competition.
  3. Thanks, sorry for Beard hope surgery and rehab goes well. Other point, is this the first of many A.C.L.'s on P.N.G.'S beautiful artificial turf field? I personally hate them, stats should there are more injuries on turf than the real McCoy that God intended the game to be played on. Good points and bad points on turf versus grass, maintenance, etc . I never liked Rubber Basketball Courts either, when you plant there is no give leading to many ankle injuries. Again nothing but good luck to Mr. Beard, lots of guts trying to play in Nederland game. If you would have seen the hit that did the damage, you would realize it had nothing to do with the ground. It was a very hard hit on the wrong part of the body. It may have many ACL's in the future, but this was not one that the "beautiful artificial turf" caused. (no sarcasm intended). Get well Beard. Looking forward to seeing you play next year.
  4. I've seen Lumberton play one game this year besides the PNG game and that was at Nederland. This kid earned my respect without even playing in the game....after he left early. Most players, from what I'm used to watching at PNG, would take off their pads and have a seat on the bench....and occassionaly go around and talk to players. Beard, left pads on, even after half time, and watched his team play the game. Congratulating and talking to them when they came off of the field. He even had his helmet on most of the time. All this, and he knew he wasnt coming back in the game. That showed a lot of class. Wish everyone had that kind of heart. Inspiring.
  5. MB is a good football coach with TALENT, I thought.....until this year. The main problem is that we are not developing players for highschool when they are in the 7th grade.....and even pop warner. Our 7th and 8th grade teams have nothing to do with the highschool programs, offensively, defensively, or on special teams. They are not put into a system, taught that system for years to continually improve on so that it could flourish in the varsity ranks. I hear of other coaches trying to implement schemes and play styles while kids are very young. Some of these teams are reaping the benefits years down the road.....LUMBERTON. Identify 4 or 5 potential qb's in the 7th grade-Identify 6 or 8 rb's-identify 10 to 12 wr's, etc etc etc. Identify your secondary, your o and d line, linebackers. Entrench a style of play into their heads at the ages of 8-15. By the time they reach 16 and become sophomores and juniors, they pick up blitzes (which we dont), blocking schemes (which we dont), special teams play (which we dont), and on and on. The main problem is, throughout the year you would see certain flashes of GOOD come out of the Indians, and then everything would fall apart. Blitzes would go untouched, running backs would get hit in the backfield (on a dive), opposing rb's and wr's go untouched (missed assignments), horrible special teams play. I truly believe that PNG had the talent to beat any team that they faced this season. Played Livingston close for a half, Lumberton, Vidor, Ozen. They would just fall apart. I could literally tell you, not exxaggerating, 90% of the time, the play that was coming from our offense. The other 10% that I could not guess were successful or near miss plays. When a bag of chips go stale, you dont just keep eating them.....go buy a new bag.
  6. I just heard the first step to getting them back on track has just been decided. We'll find out.
  7. I just found out something about this topic that is very official..."written in stone", is exactly what I was told. However, I can not let the cat out of the bag as this could lead to problems for some people.....my mouth is closed......until Saturday.

  9. I'm not going to predict PNG to beat anybody anymore, but your confidence that you are better than Livingston is funny.....You just dont run into many cocky Pirates
  10. I'll take our state runs every 10 to 20 years, while you continue to roll around in your big pile of mediocrity every year.
  11. Its good to know that we have people like you have the insight of this years 7th graders and up. That is awesome...you should start your own magazine. By the way, your future players......ie both of your freshman teams, lost to their cross town rivals.
  12. I can answer these questions you have about Nederland. A. They have not won an outright district CHAMPIONship since 1965 B. PNG won district CHAMPIONships in 1992, 1996, tied in 1999, and won again in 2003, and tied again in 2004. C. Overall PNG has doubled Nederland in all big time playoff games, with PNG having 8 semi finals appearances to Ned's 4, PNG having 6 final appearances to Neds 3, and PNG having 3 State Chamionships to Neds 1. PS......PNG did it all in front of this Attendance for these 10 games are among the highest on record in state history: Attendance Game Site Year 49,953 Plano vs. Port Neches-Groves Texas Stadium 1977* 46,339 Southlake Carroll vs. Euless Trinity Texas Stadium 2006 45,790 Highland Park vs. Waco Cotton Bowl 1945* 45,000 Houston Washington vs. Galveston Rice Stadium 1968 45,000 Dallas Adams vs. Richardson Cotton Bowl 1967 39,102 Garland vs. Katy Astrodome 1999* 39,102 Stephenville vs. Port Neches-Groves Astrodome 1999* 38,570 Port Neches-Groves vs. Houston Kashmere Astrodome 1977 38,374 Plano vs. Highland Park Texas Stadium 1980 38,000 Odessa vs. San Antonio Jefferson Memorial Stadium (Austin) 1946 36,000 Fort Bend Willowridge vs. Houston Yates Rice Stadium 1988 WOW ??? ??? ??? 14. Oh yeah, our coaching staff also continues to put #1 returning punts. I dont care how good of an athlete he is, his decision making ability to field a punt or stay away from a punt is just bad, and doesnt deserve punt returns. Numerous times he has let punts that should be fielded go by, and tries to catch punts that should be left alone. Just put #15 back there, at least he catches it when he needs to. Again another coaching problem though.
  15. 1. The fair catch was bobbled which makes it open game. It was bobbled or bothched right there all night, but our coaches insisted on leaving 33 in there to field it.........Our fault. 2. I know the play your talking about and that was a very crappy call. Gaspard was already in full tackle mode before the Ned guy even hit the ground....real bad call. 3. The tackle on Wright on that play went all the way to the benches.....Unbelievable. 4. The calls were not botched....just the penalization.
  16. Your right, it was a muffed call, and I am sure the refs will hear from the right people to correct their problem. However, I think the announcer got the decline wrong. It should have been marked from where the hold took place, and then the 15 yds for the dead ball penalty should have been enforced from there. It should have remained 2nd down. They made PNG have a loss of down with the holding penalty......which is dead wrong. Yep, it was a glitch, but you are right, I dont think it would have made a difference. It would have been 2nd and 25 or so, instead of 3rd and 25. The loss of down on a holding call was crap.
  17. LOL, to turn your back on your alma, something must be haunting you until this day. Did you not make the cut? Did someone start in front of you that shouldnt have? Did the popular kids harrass you? I am very sorry you hold such hostility towards the school you graduated from. This kind of problem can usually be worked out through different therapies.
  18. You folks are giving Vidor waaay too much credit. Yeah, they are able to play a close game here and there....But, and I am really not trying to be disrespectful (sorry pirates), Vidor will be Vidor. Lumberton 38 Vidor 17
  19. You have to understand that ALL of the teams in the area haven't been practicing too long after the hurricane put a two week damper on everybody. I would say that over 400 yards of offense is impressive no matter who you play. I don't know who you root for, but if it's LCM I would think anything would impress you. If that is the case scalp 'em, then you should be impressed with Nederland as well as they had 400 yards of offense last night as well...i would venture to say that Ozen is better than LCM, although I have not seen LCM...MCM will be it's usual, highly competetive game. I would put lcm and ozen as a toss up. Also, you can line up any way you want on offense and call it anything you want. Nederland has never accomplished the spread since they switched. Last night they throw for 180 and run for 220. Seems like they are trying to go back to the bread and butter.......they just call it the spread.
  20. Wow, that ONE playoff appearance in your history is really going to your head. Imagine that, a PNG fan hating on Lumberton. I hope you feel better about yourself! For someone who has a long history of success, you sure do not act like you have been there before. Not hating on Lumberton at all. Followed them in the playoffs and everything last year. That dude just opened himself up to that with the big head statement of "L Train will win by as many as coach C wants too". Yeah, you guys have a pretty good team and did well last year, but you arent beating anybody by as many as you want.
