  1.

A Lumberton varsity player has set a gofundme page for a jv raider players. During a scrimmage a jv player lost his hearing aid and they found it on the playing field in pieces. So Mason Sikes a senior took it upon himself to set up a gofundme page to help replace the hearing aid so the player can hear in school and on the field again. I can't express how proud I am to be apart of a community where our players help anyone in need in Lumberton!

Could you put up a link to his gofundme account?

  2. I'm ready for my crow! Nederland outplayed us and deserves to win. We didn't execute our game plan, and they did. We were totally out of sync in the 1st half, and was behind 2 touchdowns in the 2nd half before we could get anything going. Neuman has always had my respect and deservingly so tonight. The 2nd half was a good game, but we just couldn't stop Nederland after we scored each time. Congrats NED for being the 1st team to win the Bum Phillips trophy, you earn it.  I still love my Indians and we will rebound from this.

  3. Every team wins with a little LUCK, opponent drops passes that are right in their hands, without any defenders around, which would have changed the game. I believe Nederland has some outstanding players, but their luck runs out this Friday. Imagine if PNG would have won the last 4 years, how motivated and hungry the Bulldogs would be to win. Should be a good game, but this is PNG's year to take MCM.

  4. Why hasn't PNG been confronted by native American tribes? The mascot is somewhat offensive.

    From PNG website:

    Indians

cherokeeseal.jpgThe choice of "Indians" as the PN-G school nickname in 1925 was likely influenced by the rich local history.  Port Neches was once the home of the only Indian village in Jefferson County, Texas.

As early as 500 AD, Nacazil, Attakapas, Karankawa and other Indian tribes once made their home on a high bluff overlooking the Neches River that later became  the town of Port Neches.

In 1980, Port Neches-Groves High School was presented the official seal of the Cherokee Nation.  An endorsement by the tribal chief was also obtained.

Although controversy surrounds the use of school mascots or nicknames that reflect Native American culture, Port Neches-Groves continues to incorporate the rich traditions and reflect that with great honor and pride.
