  1. It's definitely possible but I would be surprised if it happened. La Grange got beaten by 28 points by both Giddings and Caldwell. Navasota played Giddings their closest game of the season, only losing 14-21, and came within 14 of Caldwell this weekend.
  2. 1-8 Borger faces 2-7 Perryton for the 3rd playoff spot this week. Perryton has lost to three 2A teams in nondistrict... Borger's one win was over a 4A team so I picked Borger over Perryton.... We shall see this Friday.
  3. If La Grange beats Navasota this week, Giddings goes as the Division I rep, Caldwell will take the 23C slot in the Division II bracket above, and La Grange will take the 23R slot.
  4. The UIL considers all teams who are tied with the best record in district play as co-champs, no matter who wins the head-to-head. Last year in 21-5A, there were 4 district champs as West Brook, Baytown Lee, PA Memorial, and Kingwood all finished with a 5-2 record. West Brook got the top playoff seed as they won the head-to-head against ALL 3 of the other co-champs.
  5. IN 3A With Cleveland's upset over Coldspring.... It most likely will be: Kirbyville vs. Cleveland WO-S vs. Coldspring and most likely the Silsbee/Jasper winner vs. Splendora
  6. With the win tonight Coach Hooks moved out of a tie for 20th place and is now 19th on the list of all-time wins as a head coach. If WO-S beats Bridge City to close out the regular season, Coach Hooks will be trying for win #250 in WO-S' Bi-district game Coach Barbay at Newton will very likely be reaching #300 next season The current ranking of most all-time wins as a head coach in Texas High School football History (includes all games played through 11/2/07) Active coaches listed in RED followed by their current location 1. 407 - G.A. Moore Jr. 2. 394 - Gordon Wood 3. 333 - Phil Danaher (Calallen) 4. 315 - Charlie Johnston 5. 298 - Dennis Alexander (Harleton) 6. 297 - Eddy Peach (Arlington Lamar) 7. 296 - Bob Shelton (Hays Consolidated) 8. 293 - Ray Akins 8. 293 - Tommy Watkins 10. 292 - Curtis Barbay (Newton) 11. 284 - Jim Streety (San Antonio Madison) 12. 276 - Bob McQueen 13. 272 - Monte Driskell 14. 267 - Lucky Gamble 15. 259 - Donald Godwin 16. 253 - Larry Dippel 16. 253 - Randy Allen (Highland Park) 18. 249 - John Reddell 19. 248 - Dan Ray Hooks (West Orange-Stark) 20. 247 - Bobby Davis 20. 247 - Prince Shotwell 22. 246 - Joe G. Cartwright (Boyd) 23. 240 - Joe Hedrick 24. 238 - Red Forehand 25. 237 - Bill Smith
  7. 3A Division I Playoff Projection going in to Week 10 (teams listed in RED have clinched that particular berth) 3A Division II Playoff Projection going in to Week 10 (teams listed in RED have clinched that particular berth)
  8. That was my pick when it was still 32 scenarios... #3 is my pick still
  9. 22-4A If PNG beats Dayton and Nederland beats Lumberton: PNG will be outright district champs and go Division I. Nederland will need to win by more than a touchdown for sure to have a chance at making the playoffs.. it depends on what the cutoff number is for the district in determining point differentials in a tiebreak situation. Dayton will definitely qualify but will be either the 1st or 2nd seed in Division II depending on whether Lumberton or Ned is the other qualifier If Dayton beats PNG and Nederland beats Lumberton then Dayton and Nederland will go Division II as the #1 and #2 seeds respectively with PNG going Division I. PNG and Dayton will be District Co-Champs If PNG beats Dayton and Lumberton beats Nederland PNG will be outright district champs and go Division I, Lumberton will be the Division II top seed and Dayton the Division II 2nd seed If Dayton beats PNG and Lumberton beats Nederland There will be a 3-way tie for 1st between Dayton, PNG and Lumberton and they will officially be District Tri-champs... PNG will go Division I, Lumberton will be the Division II top seed and Dayton will be the Division II 2nd seed 21-3A Hamshire-Fannett and Silsbee are tied at 3-3 Jasper is 4-2 Jasper plays Silsbee Hamshire-Fannett plays Kirbyville Jasper beat H-F by 21 pts H-F beat Silsbee by 21 pts If Jasper and H-F win next week Jasper gets the 3rd playoff spot and goes Division I If Silsbee and H-F win next week, Jasper still gets the 3rd playoff spot unless Silsbee can beat Jasper by 17 points or more. That would force a 3-way tie between Silsbee, Jasper and H-F with all 3 tied in point differential If H-F loses, the winner of the Jasper-Silsbee game gets the 3rd playoff spot, with the winner going Division I
  10. The situation is much simpler now... PN-G and Dayton have BOTH clinched playoff spots There are only 2 games remaining that will have any bearing on the playoff qualifiers for District 22-4A: PNG vs. Dayton Nederland vs. Lumberton There are 4 different possible outcomes of those 2 games... #1: 1st - PNG (7-0), 2nd - 3-way tie between Dayton, Lumberton and Nederland. PNG beats Dayton Ned beats Lumberton Lumberton beat Dayton by 1 point Dayton beat Nederland by 63 points DAYTON is definitely in. The 3rd team will depend on by how many points Nederland wins #2: 1st - PNG (7-0), 2nd - Lumberton (6-1), 3rd - Dayton (5-2) PNG beats Dayton Lumberton beats Ned #3: 1st - Dayton (6-1), 2nd - PNG (6-1), 3rd - Ned (5-2) Dayton beats PNG Ned beats Lumberton #4: 1st - 3-way tie between Lumberton, Dayton and PNG (6-1) Dayton beats PNG Lumberton beats Ned PNG goes Division I Lumberton is top seed in Division II due to their win over Dayton Dayton is runner up seed in Division II
  11. WOW! Congrats to Dayton... for giving Nederland their worst loss in 60 years! Last time they lost that bad was in 1947 when Port Neches won 71-0
  12. Sorry for the length of the image but it shows all teams ever to win a state championship in UIL 11-man football all-time since 1920... The numbers in the columns from left to right are: Ch - State Championships Fn - Losses in the State Finals Sm - Losses in the Semifinals Qu - Losses in the Quarterfinals 16 - Losses in the round of 16 32 - Losses in the round of 32 64 - Losses in the round of 64 for every playoff appearance in each programs history The complete table is over in the historical section but here's the top 500, which includes every program ever to make it to the semifinals at least once since 1920, any year, any classification. 197 different schools have won at least one state title 313 different schools have played in a state championship game 488 different schools have played in a state semifinal game
  13. I'll just keep updating my most recent posting above as it would waste a lot of space reposting the list over and over again....
  14. If any of the 4 teams finished 6-1, they are guaranteed a spot no matter what as there is no possible way that PNG, Lumberton, Dayton AND Nederland could all finish with 6-1 records or better. PNG and Lumberton could even lose both games and still qualify. Scenarios #13 and #29 are the only ones in which a team with 3 losses qualifies and in both cases it would be Lumberton as they would hold the tiebreak edge over Dayton. In Scenario #16, PNG could lose BOTH games and STILL be the District Champs
  15. The list has gotten a little longer... I think Nederland and Vidor are safe... 16. So which of the 32 scenarios is the one everyone thinks is MOST LIKELY to be how it really goes down?? I'm going with #19
  17. Okay, I'll try to make it easy for you guys.... There are only 5 games remaining that will have any bearing on the playoff qualifiers for District 22-4A: Central vs PNG Dayton vs. Nederland Lumberton vs. LCM PNG vs. Dayton Nederland vs. Lumberton There are 32 different possible outcomes of those 5 games... Out of those 32 outcomes: The District Champ: is PN-G 21 and 1/3 times (66.7%) is Dayton 6 and 1/3 times (19.8%) is Lumberton 2 and 1/3 times (7.3%) is Nederland 2 times (6.3%) The District Runnerup: is Lumberton 12 and 1/3 times (38.5%) is PN-G 7 times (21.9%) is Nederland 7 times (21.9%) is Dayton 5 and 2/3 times (17.7%) The 3rd Place Qualifier: is Nederland 14 times (43.8%) is Lumberton 8 and 1/3 times (26.0%) is Dayton 6 and 2/3 times (20.8%) is PN-G 3 times (9.4%) The 4th Place Finisher: is Dayton 13 and 1/3 times (41.7%) is Nederland 9 times (28.1%) is Lumberton 9 times (28.1%) will only occur for PNG in 2/3 of one time out of 32 (2.1%) So the overall chances of each team making the playoffs is: PNG 97.9% Nederland 71.9% Lumberton 71.9% Dayton 58.3% The only scenarios in which PNG MAY NOT qualify are #11 and 12, and even then, 2 out of 3 times they will still qualify. 18. This thread reminded me of some stats I put up a couple of months ago.... This was posted at the beginning of the season and I haven't updated it yet... 20. Even though San Augustine and Woodville are tied for 2nd.... I think it's very possible that Corrigan-Camden, Newton and Hemphill could win out (all 3 going 2-0 over the next two weeks) which would keep both San Augustine and Woodville out of the playoffs.... although either San Augustine or Woodville can get in with a win. It's a tight race...
