  1. What are there 3 SLC teams getting votes on this mid major poll? SHSU, SFA, UTA. Am I missing anyone? If not, Lamar is 1-1 versus conference members in the poll.
  2. See you guys voting for football at the Setzer Students Center on the 29th.
  3. Yep, I'll graduate and still have season tickets for voting for the referendum!
  4. Lamar's football team played on the visitors side? No wonder the weren't good. They couldn't even get the easy part right. The home team is always on the pressbox side of the stadium even in Jr High.
  5. Thanks for the prayers for my little cousin. She is such a cutie. 8)
  6. I'm sure I'll hear all about Dr Simmons on KLVI. I won't even have to listen. Abtr will be telling us everything stated as he always does.
  7. Lamar will have the students back on campus with classes starting Friday. I'll take Lamar winning by 8.
  8. mffl, that is no joke! If I remember correctly they only scored two goals all season. That said, I think some young coach would love the opportunity to coach at Lamar. Build the program from the ground up without any real pressure to win soon. I have a cousin who graduated from Texas A&M who is at a high school in the Houston area who coaches soccer.
  9. Those are some impressive guys in those pictures. Then I remember reading quite a bit about some of the players on the second team. That could have been a good group for a Lamar coach to attempt to gather a few signatures.
  10. Back on topic, I saw some of the game. Most of the first half and the last few minutes of the game. If the guys play like that in conference, they'll win a lot of games.
  11. We'll be voting yes! As for the stadium, I'd prefer a horseshoe style stadium.
  12. I believe you! There are some big guys on campus. That's not saying much since I'm 5'4 and 140 pounds. Everyone is big compared to me. Now if Lamar gets football, the coach needs to talk to Nwevo about playing. He is 6'7/6'8, 260 and athletic. He'd be a great offensive or defensive lineman.
  13. NC and myself will be at this game is nothing goes wrong. I'm finished with classes except finals. Wow!
  14. Back on the PGA tour for this former Lamar great. Congratulations!!!
  15. Abtr, just a thought here about what you just stated. If they did decrease the library fee to let's say $5 per semester credit hour; the additional 2,000-3,000 students paying $5 per semester credit hour would off set some of the loss revenue for the library. Plus, like you mentioned there is the additional funding Lamar would receive for the new enrollment numbers. I see it more than a win-win for Lamar and the students but the community as well. That is a few thousand more students spending money in SE Texas for food, gas, entertainment and etc. This doesn't touch to money brought into the community from athletic teams and their fan's traveling to Beaumont. Then you can add lodging revenue as well as the above mentioned food, gas, and entertainment for those individuals visiting SE Texas. I see it as a win-win for the students and Lamar but also the city of Beaumont.
  16. That doesn't sound good. Did SFA play them at home or at UNI?
  17. The large schools target areas like Houston, San Antonio, Austin and the DF/W metroplex. I think a school like Lamar will need to focus on the smaller communities. Develop relationships with the areas HS coaches and hopefully it will pay off. I honestly haven't been to more than two HS games in SE Texas. I'm from near Fort Worth but I've heard there are some good players around here. I'm not sure there is enough for a highly competitive conference but I think Lamar could land about 10 players a year from this area.
