  1. #5 Ta (tay) McNeal will take over as QB. He’s a junior and has been playing a little bit of everywhere and has taken over for Ruiz a few times earlier in the season as well. In my unprofessional opinion he’s just as athletic as Ruiz. I’m not sure how good his arm is, but speed and elusiveness he’s not far behind if at all. I also can’t speak for how well he knows the offense or if he can make the right reads, but athleticism wise he’s got it. And Ruiz should be just fine for baseball season. I think collarbones are usually 2-3 months for a full recovery. He’s currently committed to Houston Baptist so I’m sure he’s excited and looking forward to getting back on the diamond.
  2. 46-14 final. Great game to Lumberton- y’all played great. Not to take anything away from you guys, but Livingston played atrociously. Absolutely pitiful and was the worst I’ve seen us play all year. The defense looked lost, I think with the exception of a 70 yard touchdown pass we had more penalty yards than yards of offense, and we had three kicks blocked and lost an onside kick with special teams. I love our kids and they’ve had a rough couple of weeks, but the coaches didn’t have them ready for the game at all. Hopefully we can bounce back next week; it looks like it was a wild week for district. Also word on the street is our QB (Damian Ruiz) broke his collarbone and will be out for the season. Good luck to the Raiders for the rest of the season, you guys looked great tonight.
  3. Lions hold on! Absolutely great game to the Falcons. Definitely one to remember. Best of luck to y’all in the playoffs!
  4. 15 yard chop block backs them up. 55 seconds to go with three time outs.
  5. LIVINGSTON SCORES. Lions lead 21-20. 1:52 to go. Excuse my excitement, it’s just been 60 years since Livingston has won a district title. It’s been a long time in the making and just to be this close is exhilarating.
  6. 4th and 2 Huffman. Sticks coming out. MISSED BY INCHES.
  7. Huffman converts a 4th and 5 to keep the clock burning and the ball out of Livingston’s hands. Lions need a stop soon to have a shot to win. 3:26 to go.
  8. Touchdown Lions! We’ve got a one possession game down the stretch. Huffman 20 Lions 14.
  9. Lions DLineman picks off a screen, ball on the 15!
  10. Falcons have been squibbing each kickoff and the Lions almost brought one back, starting this possession at the Falcon’s 30. Hopefully we can get into the end zone this drive.
  11. Falcons respond with the same run play that scored in the first down to the 1 yard line, score on next play. 2 point conversion no good. Looks like the offenses have awoken.
  12. Lions score on a 30 yard strike on the first drive of the half, Extra point good to take a 7-6 lead.
  13. It’s a punting party tonight. Seems like whoever has one more big play will win it. I haven’t seen Huffman play at all this year so I’m not sure what their offense usually looks like, but Livingston’s is looking slow and methodical. We have the speed and athletes so I’m not sure game plan we’re going for. But hey, we can all coach from the stands!
  14. Huffman has dropped a couple of passes that would have resulted in big plays, other than that were at a stalemate. Still 6-0.
  15. Other than the 60 yard rush to open the game up, both offenses are looking a little rough, but Livingston is moving the ball better. The ball has since stayed on the Huffman end of the field.
  16. Quick strike from Huffman up the middle, missed extra point 6-0
  17. That’s fair, but Livingston has looked better and better week after week. They’ve both played Needville, with Huffman winning by 6 and the Lions losing by 1. If I remember correctly, Livingston was winning by one touchdown with a minute to go. Another thing is that Huffman hasn’t had much adversity this year. If the Lions jump out by a score or two I’m not sure how they’ll respond with the pressure of another perfect season and district title on the line. One thing Livingston has going for them is a nothing-to-lose chip on their shoulder. Should be a great game and all the cards are going to be played. I’m stoked.
  18. I think Livingston and Huffman will both have a pretty good shot at the 3/4 seed from 9A. As it stands now, Palestine is the 3rd seed and interestingly enough, Livingston and Palestine played week 2 this year. Palestine routed the Lions pretty handedly, but since then the Lions are on a 6 game tear and have gotten visibly better every week. If Livingston loses to Huffman next week and we see a Palestine rematch in round one, I’d say the Lions would come back with a little something to prove. As for whoever gets the 1/4 match up in Bi district, it’s hard to pick against a district champ even if it’s a weak district. But hey, crazier things have happened and there’s still a lot of shaking out to do.
  19. Barring any upsets this Friday night, how poetic is it when the last game of the season comes down to the last two unbeatens in district? The champion and the surprising challenger... I haven’t watched Huffman at all this year, but does anyone have any premature hot takes on Huffman/Livingston?
  20. I don’t post often but want to throw in my two cents. Livingston has performed exceptionally well this year, and has gotten progressively better each game. We’ve won 5 straight and rather handedly over Splendora last week. I’m not going to lie and say I know much about how good or bad Vidor is this year, but on my biased paper Livingston is looking like the better pick in the jungle. in response to a couple of posts earlier in this forum: Livingston should be 6-1 and lost last second to Needville. Our QB has lived in Livingston his entire life. I’ve known him and his family since he was young. Y’all can dog Livingston all you want, because we haven’t been good in a decade- I think we’ve only had one season of .500 ball in the last 10 years, but give this group the credit they’re due. Moving down divisions and playing in a weak district helps, but to take the steps to overturn a tradition of lack luster football that this group has is difficult and rewarding for them to be a part of and enjoy.
  21. Interception Lions! Victory formation taking the field. 21-20 Livingston final. Great game to the Bobcats!
  22. Orangefield recovers the onside kick. No way this happens to us twice in three weeks
  23. Orangefield punches it in on a QB sneak with 45 seconds to go. Lined up for two but lions stuff them at the line
