  1. ONLY after LCM plays BC! And then' date=' [b']ONLY if LCM wins! ::k

    OK, MIF -

    I AGREE WITH YOU NOW!

Sounds like it was a great game - Sorry I missed out! Both schools have a lot of talent, and should go VERY DEEP in the play-offs.

Congrats to the Bears on the "W"

  2. I have seen this over and over - the umpire does not know the rules -OPEN YOUR MOUTH AND SAY WHAT YOU MEAN !

Sorry, but I took it as the umpire ANTICIPATED the play to go one way (HBP), and made a call. The problem was, the play did not go the way the ump ANTICIPATED it to go, so we now have a dead ball called instead of a continuing play. And that error only led to another.

Knowing the rules and blowing a call are 2 different things, oldschool11!

  3. LCM should take this one. This will be the second District Champ in a row to go undefeated during district play as Nederland went 12-0 last year.

I was thinking this is pretty interesting stat but just realized that BC hasn't lost a district game in 2 years. It might be three as I can't remember that far. Does any other district have a champ undefeated in the last 2 years?

BC girls have gone FOUR years without a District loss!

  4. It's kinda like the whistle in a ref's mouth at a football game - Once the play is whistled dead, correct or incorrect, the play or ball is dead. Same way with this call. Once the Ump raised his hands, the play is dead - right, wrong, or indifferent.

    my $.02 worth..........

  5. I think its pretty clear you 2 folks are debating Clayton Ehlert over at LCM. What a fine player. As set out in the previous post' date=' his success in high school has been tremendous (and I believe over the next several weeks it will continue).

I also think that Clayton would tell us that, if he can get better, he wants to. I happen to know that for a fact. He may have been born with a fair amount of God-given talent but he has become a great baseball player through hard work. The equation remains true: Talent + Work = Great Success.

In this sense, I think both of the 2 competing posts are right. I don't know about the Jay Bruce analogy -- that is always uncomfortable. I think Clayton would tell you he doesn't want to be the next Jay Bruce -- he wants to be the first Clayton Ehlert.

Great player, great kid, great family.[/quote']

Yeah, but he talks too much! :P

  6. Bridge City clearly has the most talent in the district. And will have for a long time. You can attribute their success to their LL program. There is no team in the district that will come close. Their JV could beat some varsity teams' date=' that is how deep they are. Predicting their games is no fun. I am trying to jinx them can you tell. On a serious side they(BC) does have the most talent not only in baseball but softball also. They will be hard to beat for a very long time. Look at the past, BC has always fielded good baseball teams. I don't see that changing anytime soon.[/quote']

Thanks for the compilment, but the same SHOULD be said for Orangefield, since ya'lls kids are part of the same LL program in baseball and softball, and the same ASA program for those who are involved in that softball program. I think the real difference are the kids who play against stiffer competition when they get the chance, including select ball, both boys and girls.
