  1. Vidor: 5 on offense, 5 on defense. Notables: Colby Humble QB.; Haylon Leckelt RB on offense. Maverick Quirante back next year on defense. Knee has healed and he is looking good on the basketball team. I believe at least the fourth spot would have been ours had he been well for his junior year. Good JV and Freshman teams. We'll see how it works out.

Vidor does have a good bit of talent coming back next year. I wouldn't say Quirante would make a big enough difference to put us in the playoffs this past season. pretty good basketball player, but isn't quite the same on the gridiron. Humble QB, Leckelt RB, Stevenson RB, Berg S, Ciccio LB and then a few on the OL and DL would be the difference makers.

  2. This is the exact reason I never pull for Lumberton.. People put the blinders on and think all of the sudden they have become relevant... I will say this... Our district is the weakest I have seen in years... I think the playoff teams show that... Congrats to Lumperton on making the playoffs for the 3rd time.  But please do not turn into a MECA... Or Nation for that fact.... Just be you... PNG and Nederlandfans have the right to have a little swag, also know as arrogance.... It's something you earn....... I will not dog the Choo Choo kids because they have done something that's rarely done over that way... Just keep it simple.. It is what it is.... You made the playoffs... Be happy, and don't compare yourself to any other team... Be Lumberton..

Who cares? This is high school football and majority of the time there is an equal amount of pride on each side of the ball every friday night whether you're png/ned or you're lum/vidor. They're having a good year and and until that ends they need to go by whatever they like to keep the success going. I can assure you, they don't think "oh, since I'm from Lum we can't be raidernation" but png/ned can? I've played on very successful teams and pretty bad teams, but my pride, or what we went by never changed a bit. It's high school football, you do whatever you needa do and call yourself whatever you want, to give yourself that spark for a lil more

Although my son and his team were knocked out of the playoff picture last Friday night, I suddenly realized this week will be his last HS practices and game.

We are very lucky that he will get to go on to pursue his education and play at the next level, but as he told me "Dad it just isn't the same as my HS team"

Got me thinking so I found this while surfing the web.

    Dear FOOTBALL PARENT,
You dreaded this year’s arrival, but it has come just the same. A year full of promise, but so many “last times.” Over the years you have helped with countless team meals, washed mounds of sweaty uniforms, chauffeured to more early morning practices then you care to remember. You have been top-of-the-world elated when your son has had a good night and endured his deathlike silences when he hasn’t. It is amazing how the family mood bobs with the rhythm of each game. You have laughed, cried, screamed, sulked, pouted, sweat, pulled your hair, bit your nails, bit your tongue, paced, worried, shoved, frowned, and smiled all very gracefully and within a two hour span.
Such is the life of a football parent.
You may not be in on the big play, but you feel the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat right along with your son. You keep your composure when some fan behind you wants your son’s head while the opponent on the field is mashing it into the grass. “Get off him, that's my baby” you’d like to shout! You breath football at this time of year, especially this time of year when your heart whispers “just a little longer” as the season slides by. You plead and bargain, knowing full well that some other parent on the opponent's team is making their own deal with the Almighty, but you do it anyway, because you no more want it to end than your son does. You do not want to see the desperation in his eyes and the pain on his face as he struggles to put away his childhood dreams. You are helpless in the stands, with no way to make it better.
    Is it worth it?
    YOU BET IT IS!
Every lost game sock, busy Friday night. Every recovering Saturday, every aspirin, every ruined hair do, hot bath, goose bumps, and every obnoxious fan and sports writer you’ve had to tolerate is worth it. The fun isn’t measured by how many times your son gets into the newspaper, the game, or what he does when he gets there. The fun - what makes those trips to the ER for the pigskin stitches all worthwhile, is watching a game, what a sport experience can do to convert your little boy into a young man. Watching him tackle the world and you have a front row seat.
You still see that rambunctious 5 yr old playing football in the yard. You bite your lip and hold back the tears because though you are fiercely proud of the young man he has become, you miss the boy. In fact you mourn for all the little boys. You have watched them grow up together, plot and scheme together, win and lose together. They have raided your kitchen, camped out in your basement, stole your heart. They are blessed with something they will never have again. They know it and you know it. So you pray that wonder will last another game, and then another, because as long as it does, you hang on to a piece of your boy for a bit longer. Watching him walk off that field one last time will be no less painful then giving birth to him all those years ago.
We will miss this group of young men.
We will miss watching them run on to the field like soldiers going to battle, the hi-fives after a great play, the chest slams after a great tackle, the celebrations over a big win and the sober faces after a disappointing loss. We will miss watching the boys we love, play the game they love.....Football.

Awesome and such a true statement. Everyone should experience Friday night lights from the kid or parents side of the experience, it really does something special for you,  and as for me it will always be the very best time of my life with memories that could never be replaced.

  4. Yes ma'am I agree. But it's not being cocky if you can back it up. I got family on both sides playing. But Lumberton is gonna wipe Vidor clean - like many others have this year.

Ya'll have 1 more district win than us and won't make it past the first round even if ya'll do win. Ya'll will go without a win again next year just like the past two. But hey, good for you on being able to be "cocky" for 2 games haha

  5. Before it gets said we at Vidor DO NOT condone racism at our school. Example number 1 on Twitter. I don't want the world thinking that Vidor is like that anymore. We have tried too hard to shake that persona for years to have it ruined by a few boneheaded kids who pop off at the mouth.

what was said was wrong without a doubt. It was also pretty messed up talking about the kids mom, but then again it'd be kinda hard not to, being that the lady's username is SEXYYJESS? Haha no quite *Jess

  6. now y'all wanna talk about "butt hurt"... After all the whining I've read on here from Vidor fans on how our coach is talking crap. Maybe you just can't stand that what I said was true.. And relevant. So that was your only comeback.

How was what yall's coach said true? we haven't even played yet. I'll get back to ya after ya'll take the L

  7. good luck with that. Y'all have proven what you can do in big games like this.. Need I remind you of yalls homecoming game?? Y'all talk of Lumberton only having one more win than Vidor. This weak Lumberton team who picks on smaller schools stepped into district making a statement by beating ozen like we did... So, if y'all wanna talk relevance, than that is as about as relevant as it gets between these two teams.. Vidor vs GCM- late comeback to win the game by Vidor. Lumberton vs GCM- never a doubt from the first td we were gonna win. In fact we held them to negative yards in the entire first half.. Vidor vs Ozen y'all couldn't win on homecoming night.. Lumberton puts a beating on them in the second half. Thats relevance, that's this year. Keep talking about how horrible Lumberton is and has been in the past so it makes y'all look even worse on Friday night when y'all lose to our horrible team..

Lets not get too butthurt! like I said, congrats on winning more than one this year. I'm glad Vidor gets to keep ya'll out of the playoffs.

  8. I'd say, since this year is what really counts, Lumbertons' 3-2/6-2 record is a bit more relevant than Vidors' 2-3/3-5 record. One win and the train is in guess who gets that honor of helping us out.

congrats on being 6-2. I'm pumped Vidor gets to be the team to keep Lum out of the playoffs yet again.

  9. I exaggerated a little, knowing it wasn't quite 5 years. Kinda like he did by saying Vidor isn't relevent when Lumberton couldn't even win a district game in the past 3 years or whatever. But like I said, I woulda hit google like you did if I was that worried about it. You just mad cuz I made you look foolish on the racial situation last week, haha no big deal. I expected you to try and prove me wrong on something that meant nothing after the lil situation lmao. And also, no one over here in Vidor is worried about whether or not whoever you are, thinks we're relevent I can assure you that.

  10. which one game? Versus Vidor? I hope you not referring to whole seasons, if so do more research.

    ***EDIT******************

9 wins past 5 years (not counting this yr) 2 wins coming versus Vidor. Somebody inserted foot in mouth without verifying information.

It may have been 3 or maybe even 2 years, like I said I don't keep up to date with Lumberton, I just know they've lost every district game multiple yrs in a row, within the past 3 years or so. The teams I played for beat them by 50+ and didn't score until the forth, two of the three years I played them. My whole reason for posting to that guy was bc he said something about Vidor not being relevent, when lumberton couldn't even win a district game. But I appreciate the info, If I was that concerned I woulda searched it on google.

  11. which one game? Versus Vidor? I hope you not referring to whole seasons, if so do more research.

It may have been district but I know they've went multiple yrs without winning a game in either district or a whole season, I'm not real sure cuz I don't keep up with Lum. Either way, if we're talkin' relevancy they'd be less relevent, which is what I was getting to.

  12. There are multiple problems with this post. First, Vidor is far from perfection when it comes to the Slot-T. Second, in actuality Jeff learned the Slot-T from Randy Rowe in Livingston. Third, no way Vidor goes into Lumberton and wins with this much on the line. And finally, Vidor has not been relevant since Montana Quirante graduated because they have not had a Mike Linebacker that can make up for all the mistakes the rest of the defense makes. You, my friend robanadana are clueless.

Lumberton has won 1 game in the past like 5 years? up until this season, if anyone isn't relevent I'd say it's probably lumberton..

  13. You know what's funny: a few years ago Ozen NEEDED a big win from Vidor in order to make the playoffs. Vidor didn't need the win as they already clinched a spot. But Vidor DID IT for those Panther kids. They thanked and embraced each other after the game, and even during the playoffs. Furthermore, the two teams shared workouts at each other's schools and the teams grew bonds. Racial barriers seemed broken....That was just a few years ago and Ozen is just as black as Central. My point is why in the hell do WE EACH keep going back in time. Now I understand why I took a break from "messysports.com"

I played on that team. And shook hands and talked to the ozen guys after the game, also worked out with them during summer. I'm far from raciest, Sfa made this an issue by singling out one race and no one corrected him and let him know that it was uncalled for so I took it into my own hands and I think what I said was okay.

  14. It's only a problem if you are one.  I was amused by SFA's post.  But if I was a racist, white hater, then I probably would have responded like you did.

This was a clock management issue conversation, it had absolutely nothing to do with "white haters" until sfa made a comment. Because whites aren't the only ones who have an issue with the guy working the clock so there was no point in making that comment.  I'm very far from racist so that's no issue, but I'll also take up for my race when one slanders it. Anyone with any common sense or, any sense at all, will see I was very correct with the comments and categories I made in my original post.

  15. Y'all should ignore those white haters in and outside of BISD.  Don't have anything good to say and never will.  I know it's hard but just ignore them

"white haters" lmao, not even surprised to hear some stuff like that. SFA85 This conversation was about time on a clock, not race. But you fit in perfectly with the 2015 black community. Funny the things you ppl can turn into a race issue, haha get a clue fool.
