  1. would not count HJ out under any circumstance I agree. HJ is the defending Region III runnerup from last year. Until someone dethrones them, they are the team to beat in their bracket. I think they will step up and do what is necessary to advance.
  2. Glad you coud make it J-dog, I got tired of talking to Mr We, he always over looking our lil dogs, we are focus on Chapel Hill and he got Silsbee winning state already. Good luck Silsbee and Jasper. Focusing on one game at a time and taking care of business is the way to advance. I am kind of glad to be getting a shot at Chapel Hill to see if we can do in basketball that which we did not do in football. I understand we will be getting another look at that big running back.
  3. I am so surprised that someone is looking past all their opponents to Jasper. That is the perfect way to get ambushed. ;D Jasper will be focusing soley on Chapel Hill this week.
  4. no stats, but Jasper scored many more points from downtown than did Hudson.
  5. The whole 2007 state champion team. True!
  6. Jasper: Max Alvis, several year starter for Cleveland Indians at third. Phil Hennigan, 5 year reliever for Cleveland Malcolm Bronson
  7. don't know, but the football stadium is also by what I think is the junior high. perhaps this was the original gym, and still may be the better arena. just a guess. glad you asked the question. I had not noticed the Jr. that might help find the place.
  8. I knew there had to be more to the story.
  9. Jerry Malone has applied for almost every coaching job that has opened in TX. That is interesting!
  10. So you think if he is offered the Jasper job he will turn it down? Follow the money! He will stay at WO-S. If the money was gonna be better at WO-S why would he apply for the Jasper Job? You would thing that he has already checked into that. Jasper is about as poor financially as they come.
  11. What kind of shape is the program in comparison to when Brooks took over? worse I think brooks couldnt win more than one game in the playoffs The year before Brooks came back, Jasper lost no playoffs games. But, they didn't play any either.
  12. So you think if he is offered the Jasper job he will turn it down? Follow the money! He will stay at WO-S.
  13. For real ?? I expected Jasper to win, but not by such a margin!
  14. I agree. It is an impressive list of names. But, I wonder how many of these people apply for every opening, no matter where it is? Clearly, some of these people, like Toby Foreman for instance, probably are very selective in where they apply. Also Jerry Malone at Marlin. Jasper would do well if they could have a Marlin type record. Some of these folks probably are not looking to move, they are looking for a raise where they are! Good luck to all.
  15. I think they had some good young players on the varsity. RB Ben Armstrong was only a Soph as I remember.
  16. Is Jimmy Thompson related to the Thompson who was HC at Newton before Barbay? Won state, then took a job at LCM.
  17. What kind of shape is the program in comparison to when Brooks took over? I would think substantially improved. But I am just on the outside looking in. I think Brooks has gotten the number of particpants back up.
  18. I think he was the right fit at the time.
  19. sounds like a true rumor to me.
  20. Is that what a 3a school can offer nowadays?? Wow! What is going on up there in Center? I will say one thing. A good coach like Alvarez can go in and win just about anywhere there is any talent at all. And clearly Center will have talent. Yes, look what Alvarez did at KV. Look at what Gordon Wood did at Brownwood. Brownwood had NEVER won a district championship. After he went there, winning state became routine.
  21. sorry about about you having the flu. and while you were away being sick, jasper put away Huntington 70-55! things just get worse and worse! ;D
  22. 18-3A Jasper 70, @ Huntington 55 J (20-8, 8-2) H (5-5) PICK: Jasper (-6) Getting time to start taking the little Dogs seriously. Sorry, I missed the margin by three; I undershot by three. And somebody said that the Center game was the beginning of the end for the Dogs. ;D
  23. Nope. By more than 11. I think that was the margin the first go round in district. So far, in the second round Jasper has improved their margin against both teams from the first round. To keep that up, Jasper needs at least 12 to keep up their string. Jasper doubled their margin on Carthage, and had a 21 point swing against Hudson. Jasper is playing some really good team basketball right now. Jasper by twelve just to keep the string alive.
