1.
As usual BH fans will run their mouths all week long only to vanish after the first playoff game. Yes it is that time of the year.
Please read or re-read the original post.  It had nothing to do with running one's mouth, no braggadocio, no put downs, etc.  Though I could have chosen others from this thread to quote, yours appears to group all BH fans since you don't stipulate with many, most, a few, some, etc.  My post was to be respectful of our opponent while complementing the Barbers Hill players and coaches.  I guess my assumption of there being just such a post on this site was out of the realm of reality.  I am not looking to quell anyone's fun but just don't know why threads have to be hijacked since every registered user if free to create their own topic.
2. The Eagles have come a long way since the first two games.  Congrats to the BH coaching staff and players.  Last night was a battle against a team lead by a very good QB.  So, it was kinda nice to get one over Crosby. [img][Hidden Content]]
3.
Bottom line is you put the best players in  no matter boy or girl.
In watching the reaction of her teammates after she kicked, the kicks just seemed to be the norm.  No big high fives. Just a pat on the shouldpads or helmet.  It appeared she had the respect of her fellow players and her coaches.  So, I would not be surprised to see her kicking at the varsity level.  Of course, I guess there could always be someone better.
4. I received a call yesterday asking if I could take photos of Pasadena Memorial's JV last ball game. So I went and began shooting the 7 o'clock contest.  Of particular note was the  fact that Memorial's place kicker was a girl.  And as I watched, I was duly impressed.  I only stayed for the first half as the rain began to pour steadily.  But in that time, she converted all 5 of her PATs.  Her kicks were not a loft over the bar.  She stroked everyone straight through the uprights. As I listened to a fan belittle his team for not getting to "that girl", I wondered if she has a shot at kicking for her varsity team.  I don't know her classification but does it really matter.  I have seen more than one team this year who could have used a consistant place kicker.  But is there a varsity squad out in the Gulf Coast area that would accommodate a girl?  Is she really going to be given a shot to kick at the next level? Even in the pouring rain, she had no problem converting. [img][Hidden Content]]
5. Asbury started for Barbers Hill.  Followed by Young, Leggett and Townley.
6. The final score was PNG 9 BH 5.  PNG out hit BH 11-5 in the game. Both teams played pretty a sound game. PNG score 5 in the first, 2 in the third, 1 in the fifth and 1 in the seventh.  BH scored 2 in first, 2 in the second and 1 in the seventh. Below is a picture I caputured of #2 for PNG stealing second. [img][Hidden Content]]
7. Important win for Barbers Hill.  Amazing shooting performance from Crosby's MJ Mathis.  30 of his 36 points came in the second half.  He scored 19 of Crosby's 20 fourth quarter points with BH trying to keep pressure on him.  He made 5 of his 8 treys in the fourth period.
8. Here are some pics from the PNG-BH JV contest. EaglePix
9. 19-4A Standings going into Saturday: 9-4 Barbers Hill (Plays Dayton) 9-4 Kingwood Park (Plays Dayton) 8-5 Crosby (Plays North Forest) 7-6 C.E. King (Plays GC Memorial) 6-6 Dayton (Playing BH and KP Saturday) 6-7 Galena Park (I believe still plays NF) 6-7 GC Memorial (Plays King) 0-12 North Forest (Plays Crosby and I believe GP) I believe this is correct. If so here are some ways the district could play out: A 3 way tie for first, a 2 way tie for first, a 2 way tie for second, a 4 way tie for fourth, a 2 way tie for fourth.....I 'm not sure if there can be a 3 way tie for fourth. Any way, we'll just have to wait and see how the games play out.
10. Kingwood Park 7 BH 2 - Colby Henscey 2-Run HR. Jared Baker took the loss.
11. I have received reports from people who sheltered at Barbers Hill High School that the high school has been damaged. Some of the roof panels in the main hall were taken off and most of the building has water. Also, some of the windows of classrooms have been blown out. The auxiliary gym has sustained damage due to windows out. Right now I am in Montgomery where other than no power, everything seems okay. I am still waiting on an assessment of the condition of my house. I have posted on my website for people to send in updates and I will posted that here since I know folks who left town may be seeking info. Be safe!
12. Barbers Hill won 2 in a tri-match in Nederland. BH defeated H-F 25-16, 18-25, 17-25,25-21, 16-14 and Nederland 25-9, 25-21, 25-21.
13. As a Bridge City grad, this was our district; 11-AAA in 1970. Bridge City West Orange Little Cypress-Mauriceville Stephen F. Austin Silsbee Jasper Liberty Cleveland Livingston BC was 4-4 in district scoring 49, 44, 47 and 48 in the wins but only a total of 30 in the losses. There were some tough Tuesday night basketball road trips in this district and I never did learn to sleep on those yellow dogs.
14. According to Houston 5A Baseball website, Barbers Hill lost the semi-final game to undefeated Belaire 6-1. Ross Hales hit a homerun in the 7th for BH's lone run.
15. As reported to me, BH defeated Lumberton 75-49. The Eagles will play Hastings in the championship game at 6:00.
16. Barbers Hill captured the consolation bracket of the Spring Branch Invitational with a victory over Fort Bend Travis. BH is now 9-5 on the year and will open district play on Tuesday when they travel to C.E. King.
17. BH lost to Baytown Sterling 70-60. The game stayed close throughout being tied at 1st, half and Sterling had a 2 point lead going into the 4th period. With just over 2 minutes left in the contest, Eagles were down by 4 but could not score in the final 2 minutes. As a matter of fact, BH could only score 5 points in the final 4 minutes of the game and 4 of those came on one play. But a good tournament for the Eagles who are learning to play competitive with out Brooks Ybarra. Once he comes back, they know that they will have 3 scorers on the floor.
18. After a tough loss to open the tournament, Barbers Hill bounced back with a pair of wins. They defeated Clements and then Spring Woods, 70-45. They play in the consolation finals at 12:00 Saturday.
19. Barbers Hill rebounded in the Lee Classic Tournament with a win over Brazoswood 55-49. It looks like they are playing Baytown Sterling at 9:00 a.m. Sat.
20. Strake Jesuit 61 Barbers Hill 51 - Fell behind by 19 at half; cut it to 9 once or twice in the fourth before having to gamble on defense or foul.
21. Barbers Hill over Galena Park 3-0. BH now 5-1, 24-5.
22. As far as the banner, the principal of the school sent his apologies and stated they were unaware of it being displayed during the game. With the host school losing so badly, I'm sure the banner wasn't considered a valued memento and end up in the trash not in the classroom as an example of rhyming literature.
