  1. I read yesterday's Port Arthur News and realized that Dave Rogers, who has been a sports writer for the Port Arthur News, was leaving to work in Baytown.  Dave has taken the time to track down scores and stories to make sure that all interested was kept informed.  I worked quite a bit with him through my children's sports years and will miss his unique personality.  Best of luck to Dave and I wonder who will fill his shoes?

  2. Jocknash:  First, you were tagged before you slid inside to home plate.  Second, the umpires did run off the field - how could you have seen anything with your whole team on top of you.  Third, and most importantly, PNG fans would NEVER make fun of anyone hurt on an opposite team.  PNG is a good team, with atheletes and good sportsman.

We even wish you guys good luck in the next round.  So stop the bashing and concentrate on your game.

  3. Grow up son and don't lie.  My son is the catcher from PNG and he most definitely made the tag, he doesn't lie.  Again, it doesn't matter - it is what it is.  However, our PNG people do not talk trash, we just support our team.  And by the way, we handed the games to you on errors.  So play smart, hope you have the same umps that called the game your way and go far into the playoffs.

  4. Congrats to the Falcons - but need to set the record straight on the game winning run at home plate.  It was a horrible call - Carnahan tagged the runner before he got to the plate - blue was behind and couldn't see the tag.  Umpires make mistakes, but should at least put themselves in place to see the play.  And in all the years I have watched ball games I have never in my life seen umpires run so fast to their cars after the bad call was made.

Hope all of the area teams do well in the next round.  PNG will be back again next year!

  5. I agree that Carnahan from PNG is the best catcher in this area, both on offense and defense.  He is also a great roll model on and off the field.  His leadership skills as a junior are great, expecially with PNG's young team.  His bat is hot when it counts the most, i.e. major HR against Nederland and most of his hits are doubles, with him hitting in the 4 hole.  No registered steels against PNG and he only has one passed ball for the season.

    He gets my vote!

  6. WP Eric Harrington

    LP  Dee Dee Lott

Indians had 8 hits in first inning , including a 3run homer by Eric Harrington, scoring 9 runs.  Picked up one more run in the 2nd inning with Shawn Flores reaching on an error, moved around by Spikes' walk and Doty's single and came in of Todd's walk.  No defensive errors for the Indians, 3 for Ozen.
