  1. I think PNG should be above Westbrook. Even though we lost one game to WB in their tournament, we beat all of the other teams, including Louisiana's Barbe, which was the favorite, winning the tournament.
  2. I agree with westend1 on the assessment of the WB-PNG game. PNG came out flat and stayed that way most of the game. Spikes threw alot of pitches and probably should have been pulled one inning sooner. WB hit the ball well and Svoboda pitched well. PNG had a great weekend otherwise, winning the tournament. Good luck to both teams as they prepare for district play in another tournament next weekend - PNG in Lufking and Westbrook to Louisiana Barbe tournament. Waiting on weather to determine if Monday's games happen.
  3. Barbe 11 Westbrook 1 LP Aaron Bender Barbe's players were crowding the plate all day, both during the PNG game and against Westbrook. Unfortunately, one curve ball didn't curve in the Westbrook game and a young man from Barbe was sent to the hospital, taking a hit to the eye/cheekbone area. In both games, at least 4 or 5 players were hit by pitches. Hate to see that, dangerous to the kids. Hope the coach from Barbe takes notes and pulls the kids back off the plate.
  4. I guess you didn't read my comment about wishing you guys luck over at Westbrook. Didn't mean to start a huge drama here, just an observation. After further thought, good ball players play good at anytime, day or night. Lets forget all this nonsence and play ball!
  5. One good game from Westbrook over Nederland and the gloves come off. How about you guys play your season and we will play ours and best of luck of both of us since we represent SE Texas. (By the way, I was just making an observation, not complaining about game times - its just that it is that way every year and it gets old). Like one of the posters said however, anytime is a good time to play ball, so lets play ball!!!!
  6. Sulphur 10 PNG 0 10 unearned runs for Sulphur. The Indians have played error-free ball until tonight. Hope they got them all out of the way. Solid performance from Carnahan behind the plate - 3 put out caught stealing. Also, PNG changed pitchers every two innings. Todd, Sweetenham, Harrison, Benoit, Chapman Sulphur has a good hitting team. They should do well in their division.
  7. I always find it interesting that Westbrook always schedules PNG to play the 8:00 am game on Saturday and the last game at 5:00 against Westbrook. I guess when you host the tournament, you get to make the rules.
  8. PNG vs Barbers Hill at PNG has been changed to Monday, March 3 instead of Tuesday March 4 because of TAAKS testing.
  9. Most are changing because of TAAKS Testing
  10. PNG 3 - 0 PNG vs Kelly 11-3 - (WP Mitch Todd) (LP Fazzio on the mound) PNG vs Dickinson 7-2 (WP Carnahan) PNG vs ClearLake 3-2 (WP Sweetenham) 26 hits in 3 games 2 HR One defensive error

  12. LaPorte Tournament - all games on Thursday and Friday cancelled. PNG to play in LaPort at 12:00 and 3:30 Saturday. At this point, not sure who the opponents will be.
  13. It was a good game for PNG. The umpire called consistently for both sides. Kelly's pitching was off, walking several players and had two or three wild pitches that scored runs. PNG hit the ball well. Kelly put in a few good hits also. Kelly is a good team with good players, so they will rebound. We wish them best of luck in the TAPPS District.
  14. PNG - Harrington, Todd, Carnahan, Spikes, Harrison, Champman, Woods
  15. Bryan 8 over PNG 7 (6 innings) Carnahan, Harrison, Sweetenham pitched PNG 4 over Lufkin 2 (7 innings) Todd, Woods, Smith pitched PNG playing fairly solid ball. A few errors by underclassmen. Will work out the kinks before district. Good competition in 5A for preseason helps.
  16. PNG will scrimmage Westbrook at Westbroon on Monday at 4:00 pm (weather permitting)
  17. Good list, but think Carnahan should have been 1st team catcher. Wallace and Steinhagen are good, but Carnahan is equal. Maybe we should have had three 1st team catchers..................
  18. Harrington/Carnahan from PNG for last year as juniors and again this year as seniors. Co-captions of 2008 team. Will be fun to watch.
  19. Can you give a website that will tell when and where the Senior 17-18 World Series will be played when finally decided?
  20. Can you tell me the dates of the 18 year old Babe Ruth State, Regional and World Series tournaments and where they are going to be held?
  21. PNG Starters returning Harrington (P)(Utility) Carnahan ©(1B)(P) Spikes (p)(1B) Benoit(3B)(P) Woods(P)(Utility) Reyenga(OF) Minshew(OF) Sparrow (P) probably forgetting a few
  22. I believe that JR Bardin with the SE Texas SunDevils is better than Thompson. He relates more to the players and has great techniques.
