THis PNG team is by far the best team that has come out of the Reservation since '04. Maybe not the best players, but the big word here is TEAM. When one falters, the next guy picks them up. They have worked that way all year long. Great senior leadership, great underclassmen that follow the leaders. In my book, this team is a winner, no matter how far they go in the play-offs. It has been a pleasure to be a part of this group. Go NDS!

Congratulations Will, you are a very deserving young man. Good luck in your next level - I know you will be a success.

Jon Carnahan from PNG has been chosen to receive one of the four $1,500 scholarships awarded to area students. Jon joins Will Partain, from Westbrook High School as the two baseball receipients. Jon and Will both played on Team USA last summer in the Netherlands and brought home the gold medal. Jon is graduating in the top 25% of his class and has been an A/B Honor Roll Student for 12 years. Jon will continue his education and baseball career at Marion Military Institute, a junior college in Marion Alabama. Jon hopes to continue his education and career after Marion in the field of engineering. Jon is the son of John and Karen Carnahan and brother of Tara Gay.

Hats off to a great group of young men and congratulations winning district. We will be with you guys every step of the way, cheering you on each game. For the Seniors, they of course want to keep playing all the way to State. This group has the talent to win - stay focused, practice hard, and good things will come!

What has happened to Casey Jackson? Hand't hear much about him on this board. I know he is a senior, is he committed to play somewhere next year?

I think PNG plays in Dayton. We were supposed to play in Dayton the first round, but their field was flooded and we played at home. Just assume that we go there now. Sure would like to get that clarified.

Okay, I jump out there first on this one. Harrington/Carnahan make a great pair. Todd/Carnahan also make a great pair. These guys have been playing together since they were six years old at Groves American. If I'm not mistaken (don't have the official book here), but I don't think either of these duos have had any passed balls this year- catcher knows just where it is going cause Todd and Harrington hit their spots. Let's hear others opinions since I'm obviously biased. :-*

This should be a great game. Friends playing friends (from Nederland Babe Ruth), most likely the last time on the field together. Where has the time gone? I vividly remember T-Ball and here I have a Senior. Good luck to both teams. Let's have injury-free ball, fair umpires and plenty of fans. I have to call this one close - PNG 3, Ned 1

Great win for the indians. LCM has a better team than what we saw last night. It happens to every team at some given point, but hold up your heads and regroup. The race for district is still going strong to the finish. Also, would like to thank the LCM fans and the umpires from last night. The music was entertaining, not overpowering, tasteful and they had a great announcer. The umpires called a fair game on both sides, the way it should be. We are looking forward to the next few games to see how this crazy 4A district will end. Good luck to both teams on Friday.

Should be a great game. Both teams are strong. Wish we didn't have to play so far away in Dayton so we could watch first hand. Boy I bet the cell phones will be burning up the wires. Although this is entirely off the thread, I couldn't stand back and let you disrespect our PNG players. Our fans are very spirited - purple pride goes past the football field to the other sports as well. As for as our players, they are the most respectful to the other teams, the opposition's coaches and to the umpires. You never see our players arguing with the umps about plays - that is what Coach Stone and Coach Brevell are there to handle. Our players do not talk smack to other players on the field because Coach Stone has taught them to be respectful on and off the field when representing PNG. (It would have been interesting if there would have been a microphone in the bulldog dugout when we played you guys. Our third baseball and pitcher had to endure cussing from the players while their coach stood a few feet and let it happen. One of the bulldog players that had a lot of class told the PNG players to just ignore his teammates.) Getting back to our players integrity. It actually starts with the pledge of allegiance - look at our players standing erect with their hats over their hearts and their left hand behind their back. The respect the flag and what it means to be free to play the game they love. Check out other teams that talk, slouch, etc, when our national anthem is playing. Also, there is not one player on our team that thinks he is better than anyone else - they play as a group and respect each other's talent. They also do not think they are untouchable, they are just confident that if they play to their full potential, good things will happen. And by the way, they work their butts off at practice to get better each day. So, say what you will about the fans but give the respect to our players that they deserve.

Thanks for all of the congratulations for the boys. I will pass these along as my son doesn't ready these posts. Silly365, you are right - bama has some very nice folks. We have family in Birmingham and Mississippi that relocated from New Orleans after Katrina and plan on making road trips to see Jon and Mitch play. Also, the coaches for Marion are the most caring that I have ever met. This school backs up their committment to the players that sign in many ways, most impressive to me is that Coach Wells drove 8 hours to stand behind Jon and Mitch when they signed. To the Carnahan and Todd family, that meant alot. A few words of advice to underclassmen that want to play at the next level. Play your hearts out every game, have a great attitude winning or loosing, because you never know who is in the stands. Go to showcases that you can afford, write emails to the coaches of the school that you want to attend to get on their radar screen, and head to camps of those schools. Most important, if playing at the next level is your dream, work hard both on and off the field and you will get results.

Yea it always has to come back to PNG right what the whole thread is about. ??? Keep your heads up Vidor and hats off to Ozen. Friends wishing friends congratulations? Sour grapes 81sDad. Just so happens that quite a few Indians have played with Dee Dee Lott and Josh Gardiner for a very long time and consider them very good friends. Its not about Vidor. Its about wishing the best of luck to our friends at Ozen.

Congrats Ozen! Dee-Dee and Josh, you guys really helped some friends on the reservation tonight. Wish we could have been there to cheer you guys on. Enjoy your celebration, you deserve it.

Mr. Ump, One other question about the Vidor Port Neches game. You clarified the biggest question, but I have one more. Look at the KFDM.com tape when the PNG left fielder tried to field the ball in foul territory. He didn't make the catch, so therefore, I thought the play was dead, regardless that the ball rolled into fair territory. If thats the case, the runs that came in on that call were not legit. Would like to know the answer. Thanks

Okay, I have been silent on this board to give everyone the chance to make their comments. I am the loud lady yelling at the umps from the PNG side. First off, I will admit I am biased with my son as most all honest parents that would answer that question are. Second, I apologize for being as loud as I was because of my frustration, but my feelings still remain the same about the umprie situation. Third, I never did or ever would direct any of my comments to the Vidor players, as I know several of them personally and my son has ball with them. My irritation was with the ump who reversed the call after the double play third out called. My whole issue, as disscussed on this board was the run that was allowed to come in after the players had all left the field. Okay, so our left field dropped the ball after that, may have happened, maybe not. We will never know. Lastly, I apologized to my son after the game if it embarrised him and he told me point blank "Mom, I think you are great - you have been there for me all the way through my baseball years and we both are getting a little emotional that the end of my highschool ball is moving way too fast. Don't worry what other folks think - keep cheering on our team to the very end". And yes, he did have a great day yesterday, signing to play at the next level with his best friend. I couldn't be more proud of him. Thankfully, because of my husband's vacation availability, we will have the opportunity to see him play just about every weekend, so you local Vidor folks won't have to "listen" to me ever again. I have read about PNG folks cussing out Vidor folks, etc. I have no clue where that came from unless it was in the stands under the pressbox. Those folks have to deal with their own issues. I have a wonderful son, I love to watch he and his friends play, and it just was a little too much to handle with the terrible umps because it has happened on more than one occassion when playing in Vidor. PNG needed to regroup faster, move the batters around after the ump fiasco, and that didn't happen, so Vidor gets the victory. I do congratulate the players on both teams for their abilities to play - they both fought hard and well; the music was "bearable" but very tacky after the game when playing "Another one bites the dust". Classless. When you come to the reservation to play, I pray for good umps, a well-played game decided by the players ,and you won't have to wear ear plugs to tune out the loud obnoxious, tasteless music.

I am so proud of Jon and Mitch. They have played ball together since they were 5 years old, have come through Pony Colt Leagues at Groves American, Nederland Babe Ruth Leagues, the Drillers, the SunDevils, and have been successfull all the way through. Coach Wells drove all the way from Alabama to stand behind Jon and Mitch when they signed which shows the integrity of the coach and the committment that the school has for their players. I wish Jon and Mitch all the luck in the world and will being a lot of road trips!

The only thing more incredible than PGN making the list is the story of Easter, with Jesus being ressurected from the grave. If anyone can pick PNG as a top 12 team in the state, t Heck, as much as you don't want to admit it, Vidor and LCM are better teams. Wake up pollsters, this is a East of the Trinity Team! If PNG has no errors, hit homers, stay "motivated" and pray, they still get smoked in the first round. Good luck indians.......LOL Well, the neat thing about PNG is that they don't trash talk. They play together as a team and don't have to resort to trash talking. Let's take one game at a time aand see if PNG derserves the top ten. Three seniors have signed or will shortly sign with colleges, so they are apparently good enough for the college coaches. Again, lets let the games speak for themselves.
