Let me get this straight… we don’t like it when Englebert belittles other people, but we should all vote for a guy who can’t do anything BUT belittle other people? Makes perfect sense to me.

Let me explain this in a reasonable manner… we don’t need new laws, we just need the ones we already have to be enforced. Illegal immigrants aren’t voting legally in federal elections now. Making it “doubly illegal” won’t change a thing. But the real problem is PROPORTIONALITY. Illegal immigrants ARE counted in the census, which affects how areas are represented politically, and how federal/state money is spent. Let’s say that you live in an active district full of 400,000 Republican voters. Your community hashes our differences and elects representatives who try to do your will, in theory. Money flows in, money flows out, etc. This is an extreme illustration, but follow me. Nearby you a second district. This one is also 400,000, but 399,900 of them are illegal, and can’t vote. So the 100 registered voters make all of the decisions for the entire district, and they do so without even having to consider the wants/needs of the 399.9k who can’t vote. Dems don’t necessarily want illegals to vote, they just want them to be counted in the census. It helps them to consolidate their power. Think about the 7 million or so people in Houston, then consider how many of them can’t vote… that’s how you end up with crappy leadership over there.

That’s just not true. Democrats didn’t get on board with a stupid Republican idea to create obstacles to voting. Nobody ever answered me. If you had to prove citizenship before you were able to register to vote, could you? Would you be able to produce a copy of your birth certificate by the end did September to register to? ”This ain’t about me! It’s about them dirty Mexicans!!!”

Congratulations! We’re less than four months away from electing someone not named “Trump” or “Biden.”

There’s a common misconception that separate outcomes are “proof” that racism exists, even when there are more plausible explanations. There more white people in prison for “white collar crimes.” Does that mean that the system is slanted to unfairly punish white people for committing those types of crimes? No, it means that more white people COMMIT those types of crimes, which leads to more white people are in prison for doing those types of crimes. There is always an immediate rebuttal that states, “oh, yeah? But when black people and white people commit the same crime, black people get longer sentences!” And that claim is never substantiated with actual evidence… because a closer examination of the two examples submitted always has some mitigating factor.

You’re missing my point. Why didn’t my white parents go to college? Because they made choices that led them into different directions. Why didn’t your black parents go to college? That was racism. No, it’s not. NONE of my grandparents finished high school. Neither of my both of my parents went to college. I didn’t go to college on a basketball scholly. You’ve literally had it as good or better than me, but you still claim to be a victim of racism. That’s ludicrous. A lot of people from all races end up in poverty. According to you, more whites than blacks are on welfare.. so by your way of thinking, since there are less blacks than whites in poverty, black people have it better than white in the US and racism has been solved. Good to know.

But they did. How can someone say “those dirty racists burned down the black Wall Street (Tulsa) in the 1920s, then say “we didn’t have anything until the civil rights act of 1964? Were they exaggerating about the “black Wall Street,” or when they say “we couldn’t have anything until ‘64?” Because both can’t be true. Did HBCUs exist? George Washington Carver went to college in the 1880s. It didn’t suddenly become possible in the 1970s. The fact is this…. My parents chose not to go to college, just like yours chose not to go. But 50 years later I’m not blaming it on racism. The problem with false claims of racism work like this… they rob people like you who make good decisions of the credit you deserve. You didn’t make it “despite all of the racism,” but you’re forced to say that because the success you achieved with hard work invalidates the racism excuse that others like to fall back on. You, by existing, invalidate their claims.

They make bad decisions, for the most part. Having kids out of wedlock, dropping out of school, wrecking their own credit, bad work history, felony convictions, etc… And occasionally just bad luck. Those are the uniform reasons that ALL people end up in poverty. How stupid would I sound if I said “the reason why I’m broke today is because ONE of my 32 great-great-great-great grandfathers was financially ruined in 1865 when Lincoln freed the slaves?” Bad personal decisions lead to poverty.

Like I said… anybody who keeps saying “those people breaking, windows, fighting the police, and especially the ones dragging the gallows were invited in” is specifically a traitor and doesn’t support the Constitution, or the United States. They just want trump to be the boss. ,

Anyone who watched what happened after Trump lost the 2020 election and subsequent failed attempt to subvert our peaceful transfer of power, then supports him again is a traitor, plain and simple. That’s what you call people who continue to support a would-be despot who tried to overthrow the government. They are a threat to democracy. You don’t want democracy, you want Trump.

No offense, but no living black person did, either. In America, we’re always one generation from poverty. You can get out of poverty or go into poverty in a single generation. Trying to say that someone’s lack of wealth in 2024 is directly related to things that happened 160+ years ago is just dumb.

I don't think you've read the bill, honestly. I've attached a summary. It's not about producing ID when you go to vote (which I believe should be done). It's about requiring people to show proof of identity along with a photo ID when registering to vote. Do you really think that there wouldn't have been THOUSANDS of frivolous suits filed by angry red-hatted fools after the 2020 election? How would you like to find yourself, volunteering to be an election worker, then sued personally, with your life's fortune at stake if the attorney that you have to hire to represent you doesn't prevail at your trial? All because somebody believes in fairy tales about "election fraud?" What happens when all election workers quit volunteering because of the personal exposure to baseless litigation? I'll ask again... right now your voter ID card shows up in the mail like clockwork. How would you like to have to go down and re-register between now and the early part of October, with a birth certificate AND your photo ID? Are you prepared? I wouldn't be.

Pretending that these requirements are aimed at anybody but minorities is lying to ones' self.

I want voter ID laws. They make sense. But at the same time, there are a lot of people that want to make it harder for minorities to vote. You only have to look as far back as Texas 3 years ago when the Rs in the legislature tried to eliminate the "polls to the pews" efforts that helped so many black people get to the polls. [Hidden Content] There are federal laws already in place that make it illegal for anyone who isn't a citizen to vote in federal elections. They're basically wanting to pass a law that requires proof of citizenship when registering to vote. My guess is that most of y'all would lose your mind if you turned up to vote in November and found out that you weren't registered because you never went back and re-applied with proof of citizenship (not just a drivers license). My solution is that the Rs have EVERYBODY re-register. Even if your in your early sixties and have proof that you've voted in every election since Carter was in office. You still need to prove your citizenship when registering to vote. That would fix the problem. And all of y'all have time to spend a morning and $25 down at the Vital Statics office in the county in which you were born getting a fresh copy of your birth certificate, right? That's no hardship at all. The fact is this... if there actually were any fraudulent registrations, the people who accepted the application aren't going to suddenly stop because a new law states pretty much exactly what the law already states. The whole thing a charade to fire up the older white people. If the Rs wanted to win elections, they'd try to lure actual registered voters to vote R, instead of nominating candidates that most people hate and then disqualify people who would vote against their Messiah. And the Ds are using the same legislation to fire up their voters. The fact is, there was no widespread fraud, and this legislation is just a big bunch of hot air.

So you have to take a birth certificate to the polls with your photo ID if you look like you might not be a citizen? Sounds dumb to me.

Trump is the only departing president in our 248 year history who tried to stop the peaceful transfer of power after he failed to get re-elected in 2020. He tried every way possible to stop it. From “just get me the votes” to fake electors to stopping the counting of electoral college votes in Congress. He’s a power hungry would-be dictator who promises to persecute those who don’t agree with him. He (and his unwavering supporters) are a legitimate threat to our democracy, but you’re fine with that, so long as he’s the one in charge.

Because I’ll be honest…. History is going to be much more kind to Obama than Trump, and for good reason. Obama might be a progressive, which I can’t stand, but he is a decent person. You can’t say that about Trump. Obama tried to make sure poor people could afford health care… Trump gave his rich buddies tax breaks. Trump borrowed more in four years than Obama did in eight. So much for trickle down economics working for anybody.
