  1. they could never make up their mind what kind of sports they wanted to emphasize after the great basketball teams of the early 80s. after having a 25-4 record and losing only two games to La Tech and 2 one point road games there was no NCAA bid. That was when Pat Foster called the NCAA selection committee "white-collar criminals". At that time they explored being independent or joining another type of conference. baseball also suffered greatly with the departure of Jim Gilligan in the late 80s. He returned to restore some of the luster in the early 90s.
  2. speaking of McNeese - 40 years ago on March 9, 1984 Lamar beat McNeese in a Southland Conference tournament game to win their 80th in a row at home. amazing accomplishment.
  3. is it a stall? just following the score not seeing live.
  4. Lady Cards take care of business beating Northwestern State in their last conference road game. FINAL Lamar wins 80-64. Lamar now 22-5 with 12 wins in a row. Final regular season game Wednesday at home against Houston Christian. One thing I like about their play in the recent games is that they're getting off to fast starts and not having to expend a great effort to work back into the game. For a while, it looked liked they were not ready to play at the start of games.
  5. Lady Cards beat A&M Commerce on the road 74-58 to get some revenge for their only conference loss of the year. Meanwhile, the UIW CARDS beat Southeastern LA by a score of 53-51. This gives Lamar a two game lead over SE LA with two to play. Lamar swept SE LA during the regular season so this should give the Lady Cards the #1 seed and the conference title. Congrats Lady Cards now 21-5 and 15-1.
  6. Lady Cards ranked #25 in this weeks mid major poll. Road games at AM-Commerce (only conference loss) and Northwestern State Thursday and Saturday.
  7. Cardinals lose 13-2 in 7 innings. Cards not looking very good when playing the better teams.
  8. Playing McNeese tonight who is winless in conference. Looking to wrap up one of the top two seeds then you only need two wins in the conference tournament to go to the NCAA tournament. Ranked #32 in the mid major poll this week.
  9. Lamar wins opener against Southern Indiana 4-2. Next game at South Alabama.
  10. [Hidden Content] Highlights: baseball opens Friday February 16 at South Alabama tournament; Lamar picked second on preseason conference poll; first home game is March 1.
  11. Nope Memorial a game behind BH and a game ahead of both Nederland and Crosby with two to go.
  12. Lamar wins at A&M Corpus 63-57. They finish the first half of the season tied for first with SE LA. They beat SE LA at home. Their only conference loss was to A&M Commerce at home which I consider an uninspired loss. Overall their record is 14-5.
  13. Lamar beats SE LA 74-64 at home...now 5-2 in conference play. Next game Monday at home against New Orleans. Really like that little guard Pryor.
  14. Lamar blown out in second half final McNeese wins 88-69
  15. Nice road victory. Lamar trailed most of the game and came back to take a lead near the end of regulation. Nicholls tied to force overtime and Lamar came through with the victory. Next is McNeese on the road Monday. McNeese probably the best in the Southland right now and undefeated at home.
  16. Lamar falls to Southern Miss tonight at home 82-79. Final game before Christmas will be Thursday night at LSU.
  17. Not sure what happened tonight just disappointed I didn't get my free chicken.
  18. Brooks has been a disappointing hire to say the least. He had a poor record in Houston in the mid 90s. He seems like a good assistant but not head coaching material. I've had nothing but good things to say about Tic in his Lamar days. They threw him in when Knight had the team all messed up and you can tell the man knows his stuff. The sooner the AD moves on to a new hire the better for Lamar. Since Pat Foster left in '86 it's pretty much been 40 years of nothing but futility. One from the good old days
  19. Yep 55-29 at half then up to 66-36 at 14 minutes before they called off the dogs and let Lamar cut it to 20. Final SAM 90 Lamar 70
  20. Lamar loses 86-83 at UTSA. Lamar led by 8 points with just under 4 minutes left to play but couldn't finish the job.
