  1. I've seen alot local high school baseball in the past 20 years:

Pitching........The pitching is way down from prior years, no one is touching 90 as I've seen in the past.  Angelle, Parker, Blacksher, Harrington and Elhert could fit in during SETEX best years of baseball 1995-2001

Position players.....No big difference, pretty even over the years.

Defense........This is the biggest difference in high school baseball from prior years from my viewpoint, too many errors in today's high school baseball teams.

Yes, way to many errors today.  Everyone worries about hitting and seems to forget about defense.  Defense and pitching wins championships not hitting.  Ex. the BC and Jasper final game of the year.  That was some bad defense for two teams that are supposed to be state threats.

Coaching........Much improved from prior years, local AD's actually hiring baseball coaches instead of football coaches having to coach baseball

  2. I think he handled it quite well. His team won 4-2.  Best of luck to HJ in staying alive tonight.

I was not saying that He did not handle it well.  I am sure he did not even notice what anyone was saying.  All good players block out what is going on outside of the field.  I was just meaning that if any player worries about what the fans are saying.  They will not succeed in college.

  3. If Stringer can't handle the student body form HJ.  When he gets to college, he will fold like a deck of cards.  It just gets worse from here with the fans.   College fans are much more rowdy and rude.

Also, some of you people on here sound absolutley stupid. Pointing out everyones mistakes. I doubt very many of you are english prof. and most of you would do poorly on an SAT.

My daddy can beat up your daddy.  Waan, waan, waan.

  4. For all the kids that have not been contacted yet don't get down.  Some of you may have heard of a guy by the name of Tyler Reeves from LCM.  I May be wrong on some of my info.  So please excuse me, but I don't beleive he was highly recruited out of High school and ended up going to wharton Juco. Then to Texas Tech and was drafted last year in the fourth round.  So just because you don't start out big doesn't mean you can't end up there.

  5. Why do you think that Schooling, Calhoun and Hargrave have not recieved any offers from anyone???

I have never watched Schooling play,  but I have heard he is pretty good.  How hard does he throw and does he strikeoout very many batters.  If he is not a high strikeout pitcher and uses his defense more.  Then he will probably not be very highly recruited.  If your stikeout totals are not very high in high school. Regardless of your ERA are   winning %.  You probably want be very good in college.  If you are a ground ball pitcher in high school you will be knocked around in college.

By asking how hard he throws, I mean what does he pitch at not the fastest he can throw.   Just because you throw 90mph 1 time in a game.  Does not mean you throw 90 mph.  It probably means you pitch more like 86-87 on a consistant bases. Scouts look at how consistant you throw at what speed. Also what grade is the kid in?

  6. TVC184 you are correct, all are looked at acording to potential or projected growth. I do know they look at things you wouldn't think of including parents size (frame), shaving, among other things. The oddest thing I thought (at the time) was told to me by a local scout for the Rangers was a pitchers trunk (butte).

That is funny you say that. Because, I have heard the same thing about the size of your rearend.  They look how much power you can project from you lower body potentially.

  7. I have a son that plays strictly baseball and he does not pay for anything (except his parking pass for the semester).  They gave him books, fees, and tuition.  He does attend a D1 school.

Where does he live and who pays for that? Also, how does he eat and who pays for that.  If the school does not pay for both, then he is not on a full ride.  If he is on a full ride. The school would provide him with 3 meals aday.   I know of someone in D-1 that is gettin 85%. Which is everything but housing and meals.  This is the best that I have seen in baseball.

I have heard of players on 50% academics and 50% athletics. That is about the only way to get 100% in baseball.

  8. You are nuts, Dishon is everything people say.  He is a five tool player and will be very much like Collen Delome at Lamar.  If Billy Bryant would steal bases more, this kid would have 40 stolen bases on the year.  I will put his arm and defense against anyone in the state from deep center to home plate.  He is everything he is cracked up to be.  The only thing that is in question will be his adjustment at the plate from high school to college.

  9. The bottom is that everyone loves to beat the top dog.  For the last few years BC has been the cream in this area and they are still pretty good.  BC is very deserving of there rep. We have been blessed with some very good players for the last six years.

Since 1999, BC has had a Division 1 OR Major league prospect on the mound. That will win alot of games.   Dan Fletcher for 3yrs Cinn. Reds,  Luther Sanders for 3yrs  K-state scholorship, Derek Blacksher  for 3yrs. Mcneese state,  Kevin Angelle, for 3yrs, San jac./Texas Ranger. and now with Jeff Stringer for 3yrs Lamar univ.

So with that kind of talent coming through your progam people have a tendecy to get the big head.  The problem is that other people get tired of hearing about it and just as fast as you became good, with arragance you can fall just as fast.  So BC needs to get serious if they want to continue our winning ways.

A 42 game winning streak in district can make you get complacent.  Respect is the ultimate in sports, If you don't respect your oppent everytime you step on the field,  they will beat you!

So lets get back to playing Cardinal ball!
