  1. My take on all this is that the school board hired the best candidate for the job. He might not have been the one that you would choose or that I would choose but its the one that they chose. The people of this area elected these school board members so any gripes you have can be taken care of in the next school board election. Myself, being a Jeff Stewart fan, I know this had to be a tough decision. Jeff still had alot of backing in this town and there had to be alot of emotion to get this right. I don't think we'll ever know what went on behind those closed doors and maybe thats for the best. Hopefully everyone will get behind this new AD and we can get Liberty athletics back where it was 3 or 4 years ago. One problem that most people had in the past was that they didn't believe there was much of a push for the other athletic programs and I personally believe that was true. We need to put alot of emphysis on all the other sports Liberty offers, both girls and boys. There has always been alot of talent in this area but we have always had alot of this talent walking the halls or moving down the road to Dayton. We need to restore the pride here in Liberty and get these kids motivated to be in sports instead of roaming the hallways during the day. I am personally looking forward to getting this new program started and hope the best for these kids and this community.

  2. I do believe Huffman is going to surprise some teams next year, I just hope Liberty isn't one of them that gets surprised. At the rate things are going around here we may not even have a new AD yet!!!

I really don't think that Huffman beating Liberty or anybody else in the district should come as a suprise to anyone who remembers what kind of team the Falcons had before they moved up to 4a. The last 2 or 3 years Huffman was 3a they were at or near the top of the district and this was when Barbers Hill was in this district also. They will have big numbers, attendance wise, so you know that will make them competitive to begin with and this group of seniors that Huffman has, and I think I'm right, but they haven't lost to Liberty since Jr. High. Correct me if I'm wrong ETBU. This should be a very exciting district and I am looking forward to it and hopefully Liberty can get it together.

  3. I think most everyone in the Liberty is just getting impatient with the whole process. I was impressed with the quanity and quality of the coaches who applied for this position in the begining. But like most people here I too am concerned about the top applicants turning down the job for which they applied for.  Hopefully the board is doing the all the right things to hire the best coach for our program. Only time will tell. This will be a pretty tough and competitive district and the sooner we get a coach in place the better.

  4. He left in 2000 to become the OC at Tatum in East Texas.  Tatum went 2 rounds deep and they led the East Texas area, 3A schools, in offense I believe.  He was given an opportunity at Dayton that was hard to pass up from what I understand.

Coach Nations, from what I hear, would be an excellent choice. He left Dayton once before to become the Head Coach for another school (Dont know for sure the school) but came back to Dayton after only one year. From what I hear this coach runs the spread and the kids like him alot.

Thanks for correcting my mistake. I heard today that he was the OC at Tatum. Still sounds like a good choice.

  5. You're right about Liberty not having any business playing Dayton. It's been about 4 or 5 years since Liberty would've been able to compete with Dayton. Have heard a rumor that Liberty will scrimmage Hardin this year. That will be good cause it would be a good game and with these towns so close it would bring alot of interest. Still hearing Sadler will most likely be the next coach. The coach from WOS would be great to have also.
