Good luck with that! Until someone beats them, Navasota is the best 4A team in the region. Don't mean to be rude, but between Huffman and Navasota I think we already know the answer to that question.

No matter the trash talk between the two teams fans, I hate to hear this about any teams kids. I hope its not as bad as it looks. Wish the kids a speedy recovery.

I will agree with you on one point, WOS should have gone further and done more with the talent that we did have the past twenty years. We have had some flameouts in the playoffs when we shouldn't have. The past several years undoubtedly we ran into not just better teams but the BEST teams in the state.

2 losses in preseason does not define a team. I'm sure WOS will bring their A game. When they face HJ as I'm sure HJ will as well. Should be a really good ball game. Both coaches will have there teams prepared. As fans we just get to see a playoff type game a little earlier. Good luck to both squads. And may they represent our area well come playoff time. And by know means am I assuming that we run through district. Liberty wellllllll. I think we get in.

Teenagers, you never know what you will get. I hope it doesn't affect either team.

At this point, the 2 losses are not an issue. Coach T's first year (2012 i believe) we started 0-3 or 1-3.

My pleasure. I haven't been on since high school, and this whole thing got my blood pumping a bit! I do think I know a bit about basketball, though. For those that know who I am (if some of the ol faithful HJ guys are on here), I think they can vouch for me, that basketball is where I am far more knowledgeable and have made the most noise. And yes, I've been under the tutelage of a few of the best in the state. I'm just over here now because we've finally got a group worth talking about.

I know what he was implying, but in my opinion it was the exact opposite for WO-S. Now every team in the district has seen them lose two games already this year, one to a struggling Newton team. You can bet that every team wants to get revenge for what West Orange has done in the past. I don't care how you spin it, a loss is a loss. To try and take anything positive away from that (the moral victory or loss being a win crap) or for a loss to be acceptable in the WO-S program further proves that they aren't the WO-S of old. And yes, awful typo, probably discredited my argument more than anything. Ha!

Stangx I respect your football opinion clearly you know the game and are up to date on current topics. Clearly you love the game, that is obvious.

With that said can you honestly believe that one loss can send all of the pre-season work, preparation, and training out the window? Because if that is truly your beliefs then I seriously need to reconsider my first impression of your knowledge. We lost 4 games last year yet went 3 deep in the playoffs.

I like hooters, and Superman is over rated, anyone that gets weak around a rock has issues...Give me Thor, or Wolverine.

Hope you are not implying that I said any of those things about WOS because I have given nothing but respect (that they have earned) to them.

I have never thought that our team (HJ) could not be beaten, in fact I posted a few weeks back that I don't make predictions because we are dealing with teenagers and that alone opens the door for anything.

We go into WOS as an underdog and we get that. If WOS beats us so be it wont be the first and probably wont be the last. WOS is a football power house plain and simple have been since I can remember, but things turn and tides change look at the many football teams that are not the power house they used to be. You can not tell me that WOS is having a typical season because a typical season is undefeated.

HJ is enjoying the success at the moment we had a great season, and our future looks bright, we have some solid up and coming under class man ( our 8th grade team that is now freshman defeated WOS last year first time that has happened since I can remember).

as far as your statement "Losers won't be the same team" we handled it fine last year let's see how you handle it this year because rather you like it or not you have slipped 2 games into that "Losers" category already this year.

I love all the talk on these threads, that's what makes sports fun...you can talk all you want until you have to lace up the cleats and trot out there. HJ isn't scared of WOS, they have made that point VERY CLEAR, but as most of you know from your old beer drinking days...."You aint gotta be scared to get your butt whooped!" ;)

I know everyone gets on here to talk a little smack my self included..its all in fun..I mean really what would this board be without a little smack talk? Very boring..I do believe HJ is not looking past OF.coach is not going ro let that happen..OF seems to be a good football team this year..and I do believe the WOS-HJ game will be the game of the year just due to all the hype..good luck to all teams this year and may everyone go injury free

Hondo go ahead believe that change is what WOS needs! That my friend is your choice. As a previous poster said I do know a thing or two about coaching. For some reason when WOS wins everybody is on the bandwagon but let them loose and certain few want to say that a change is needed. From what I have seen everyone gauges their success on how they compete against the Mustangs. I feel that right there says enough about the program and coaching staff!

I believe those deep runs that CS and Navasota attained only lasted about 2 more games after they played WOS, I believe WOs has been in the quarterfinals the last two years. Let me see Huffman went how deep last year? I don't think WOS runs scared of anyone, especially Huffman. Newton had NEVER beat us, no excuses they won. That doesn't make WOS not the premier team in this part of the state. I believe WOS, LaGrange, Hooterville, and then LaMarque. You notice Huffman is not even in the top 5. Has Huffman EVER been out of the region? Forgive me if they have but I hadn't even heard of them until a few years ago. Kinda been a little while for LaGrange too if i am not mistaken. Speaking of living in the past, say no more than the word LaMarque. I  remember you saying that Huff and Puffington would beat us last time. Hmm, another crow eater with Mustang envy (49-6, if I remember right)

I think your a little hard on ole Chuk. It would be hard for another coach to come in here and run T's 52 defense. One of the advantages we have had is the constant of the Chain Gang defense. We teach it in Lil Mustangs all the way up to high school and have for years. Several teams have talent perhaps equal or slightly less to the Mustangs in our area but are a good coach away from turning their program around. A good coach means a lot, just ask hj. A good coach can make the talent better, a bad coach and it really doesn't matter the talent level. We have gone through a lot of assistant coaches in our history, not all of them were good coaches. The one constant except for a year or so has been Cornel Thompson.

We have been blessed with a lot of kids that can really play football, but I will tell you for sure some of the best football players never played football at WOS. They didn't want to go through the conditioning he makes the players go through. Just for the record I am talking about black, white, and hispanic kids. Yes, talent will rise to the top, but it is the coach who either gives that talent a place to shine or have that talent on the bench and never see the light of day.

We are really blessed in our communities to have outstanding men teach or our kids at the peewee level. We are oustanding because we are all on the same page. Bring someone else in and that page, like it or not, does get changed and would have take some time to be adjusted to.

Your way off base with the Penn State remark.  Believe it or not, he knows a thing or two about coaches.

I got news for ya Stangx I think some of these boys were looking past Tatum at OF. Trust me when I say these boys know what teams they are going to have to play flawless against and OF is on that list.

This is going to be one of the best games of the season! Both teams have VERY talented athletes and WONDERFUL head coaches. This game is going to come down to which players have the best mindset. I assure you our Cats are not coming into this game lightly (as I KNOW DuBois' Hawks are not either).

And at the end of the game - the boys and coaches will meet at the 50 yrd line to pray together, be encouraged together and be praised for ALL of their hard work - together!

First of all these are kids playing this game not pros and even pros look ahead and there is nothing coaches can do about it. IF the hj kids are looking ahead, OF bites them. hj is coming off a huge win over Tatum, hard to get up for another team after a huge game that kinda determines who you really are (just ask WOS last week). I honestly don't think hj plays up to their capabilities this week and OF goes all out. Should be exciting.

OF does have a chance, just think hj can overcome them.
