  1. The Lumberton players were not the ones, you are correct....however....running through the catcher and shoving catcher is a violation of the rule and if deemed malicious the player should be ejected and the slide at 2B was what got the coach on the field....should have been an automatic double play because you can't make contact with the 2nd Baseman past the bag or to the side of bag...this rule was put in for safety of all athletes....personally I like the take his a$$ out play but not allowed any longer....Coach was protecting his players from injuries. And umpires that do this job as a hobby for the extra cash and don't read or understand the rule book are a problem.

  2. Sounds like you have better contacts than I do so maybe 2/1 but by the looks and all that is left I still believe 2nd week of February....Probably around 2/8 to 2/10. I know they are excited and ready to get on it.

  3. PNG has 3 good pitchers in Leckich, Henry and Vidrine....after that velocity goes down and strikes become an issue...a few sophomore pitchers with good arm strength but can't find the strike zone. PNG won't be able to survive on the sophomores if they can't throw strikes.

  4. I was told by Coach Carter that Henry and Leckich pitched extended innings Saturday in Lufkin.

Bridge City and PNG will have good seasons.....Runs were scored by both teams when they got to their number 4-5-6 pitchers. Hitting for both teams was a little iffy.....I think BC had 3 hits and PNG had 3 or 4....both teams will have to hit better.

  5. New athletic director/football coach blamed carter for students quitting football and going straight baseball. I know for a fact this wasn't true. Carter was varsity football coach and wanted all his players playing football.

The majority of people in Sweeny are scratching their heads as well.

Carter is originally from Louisiana, another reason PNG is a great fit for Carter and his family.
  6. Coach Scott Carter to PNG. 400+ career win, 200+ wins in 9 years as Sweeny head coach.Undefeated district champions in 2011,2012 and 2013. State tournament appearance in 2012. Carter was reassigned in Sweeny by new athletic director so as most coaches would do started looking to relocate. He was chosen Brazoria County Coach of the Year.

(on a sde note) Carter also has a daughter that was an all conference softball player at Lamar University so it sounds like PNG is a great fit for him and his family.
